I'd call it a testament to your teaching that this time I was able to look at the first part for a few moments at the start and pretty much plan out in my head how you were likely to go about building it. I was spot on. Super big thanks again for this series.

Learning how to work smarter not harder with every video you put out 😁 I have been following along for a few of your videos. For this particular part I decided to try it myself before watching the tutorial, my method involved turning on 3d sketching and using the sweep command along the path at the appropriate angle.

Thank you very much, I am recently switched to Fusion. Here there are some key details, important ones mentioned here, learned a lot. And the problem with the blue tangent line (though it is fully constrained), has been fixed; now, it is fully defined. Thanks again

What I would do to align the bottom circle with the middle of the line (around the 14 minute mark) is use a vertical constraint. Select the center of the circle, then hold SHIFT and hover over the middle of the line to display and snap to the midpoint. No dimensions required and it will still move if you change the length of the line :)

Great tutorial. It took a while, but I was able to get the drawing fully constrained. After some extrapolating from the dimension given in the drawing, I was able to determine that the entire part was 193.847mm long. The distance from the tip of the second part to the front edge of the first part you drew is 65.847mm. Whew: big fun! Thanks for the information; it was a great learning experience.

the no. of teeth you typed in are still in "degrees". What makes it work is the ratio between the no. of teeth equals the ratio between the tooth-radius of the two gears. Hope that helps.

A cool trick for working from drawings is to insert an image of your drawing into the window as a canvas 😉 Love the angle bearing block tutorial. A lot of useful info in that one. Thank you! For cutting the hole through, you can do the offset plain again, just like the boss extrusion, and do two sides to object and select the faces.

I like how you can grab parts of the sketch and drag them around when they aren't fully defined yet. Why is it sometimes it lets me do that, and sometimes it does not? I can click on a piece of geometry and move it, unselect it, try the exact same thing, and it won't move. Try again, and sometimes it will, sometimes it brings up other dialogs, etc. It seems very glitchy. Thanks for this. I learned a lot. Like how to create a line tangent to a circle during creation. That one has been buggin me!

6 mins in... mind blown! O_O I didn't know you could do that either. I did feel the previous guess work was a sort of false economy but I think I was dividing by 360 or something in my own stuff.... so I guess it makes sense that if both sides of the equation are divided by something... you can discount it.

Thanks a lot Sir..Learnt lot of new skills and tips I have one question that I could not chamfer the edges...It shows Error: The fillet/chamfer could not be created at the requested size. This might be occurring at the ends of the selected edges. Try adjusting the size or using multiple separate operations. Check that the selected edge chain ends at a sensible position, and if not try selecting more edges. How can I adjust?

In part 214..Thanks in advance
@bradtallis8968
@bradtallis8968 3 года назад
@Mian Bilal- This error is usually caused when you are trying to chamfer a very small edge. For example, when you go to extrude the horizontal part up to the curve of the vertical part, if it didn't "snap" right to the corner and maybe was just a little short, a tiny edge would be created and the chamfer would fail there (this is just an example). If you want, create a copy of your model and create a shared link and share the link here so I can take a look at it.

If you type in the 50 for the bottom hole and divide by 2, you'll get the 28, but ... it won't stick if you change the 56. You have to ref the 50 before dividing by 2.

On the last example (angled barrel on block). Why not create an offset plane from the first angled plane? So your sketch lives "inside" the block. That way extrude to would work.

ON the last piece, why not make Round/Tube sketch on the CENTER line of the cube and then Extrude to Both Sides/Symetrical?
@davidl1813
@davidl1813 3 года назад
Great video, but you can work out all the dimensions from the drawing without any guesses. It is just a long-winded process. For example, the length of 89mm in the upper drawing is made up from the dimensions in the lower left drawing. ie: the R6 + 56 + R27 = 89. Similarly, calculations can be done for the remaining measurements, it's just a pain and the drawing should be labelled better to avoid mistakes.
@MikkoRantalainen
@MikkoRantalainen Год назад
While entering diameter, why not "r15" not setting 15 mm radius instead of diameter? And whenever it's asking for radius, you could write "d30" to set diameter to 30 mm.
@darranedmundson1505

Hi Brad. You seem to opt for the horizontal/vertical constraint in situations that I'd mathematically describe as being collinear. For example, the line segment and point on the circle at 14:50. Is there a performance penalty here for using the collinear constraint?

The second part @40:55 can be made from a single sketch and only 7 features in the timeline including the sketch... Let me know if you found how or if you could make it in less features! :P
@slarti4242

Six features including the sketch and fillet. 3D sketch is the keyword with that. P.S. Extrude from object to object works IF you don't start extruding from within the part.
@slarti4242

Actually, it can of course be cut to five features, because the fillet can be done in the sketch as well.
