So... Thanks for the detailed explanation. Particularly the part that it is (was) a factory action and barrel. Lets me know that the issues I am having at 300 yards with my factory Remington 700 are probably behind the gun and not in it! And, thanks for all of your amazing videos. You are an amazing team!

Nice shooting as always. That factory barrel has earned its place on the mantle! I use the USO level’s on a few of my rigs as well. It’s built solid and has stood up to some abuse but I learned the hard way to always double check things. Scope level to the gun, bubble on the rail said level, but things weren’t adding up. I was always having to hold for more left wind than everyone else shooting with me. Found out there was some discrepancy between a level scope and what the bubble was telling me was level. Lesson learned, always check the reticle to a plumb line! Cheers!

Mark our range goes out to 1000 meters and we are shooting both the 6 mm and the 6.6 Creedmoors also I shoot a .338 Lapua built on a 700 action and that one has a 29" Hart barrel almost everything is Night force for optics. We will be going out next week for the first time this year Spring is finally here. My buddy just picked up a new H&K factory long range rifle and HK built it on an AR type platform its a 7.62x51 I want to compare that to my X series Rock River also in 7.62x51 and see how it compares. Its interesting that HK mentions nothing on break in for their barrel? I think it best to error on the side of caution and run a good procedure on it for its first time out! Watching you shoot sure makes me want to stretch things out a bit further than a click Mark! Great shooting and you are great at bringing us mortals back to reality with every clip you and Sam put out! Thanks

Mark, out of curiosity can you tell me what kind of foot pounds of energy that bullet has at that distance (3617yds)??? I also have a .300 win mag & ABSOLUTELY love it, they farthest I'm able to shoot it here is around 1600yds, and I love they groups I get with it, 11.85" groups, not bad for a TOTALLY factory rig. Savage 111 LRH,long range hunter, heavy barrel - muzzle brake & Hornandy 208gr A-Max hand loads. Thanks Mark, and keep them videos coming.

I wan't do do my first 1000yds, question for you... 6.5mm CM or 300 WM? I don't have any of these rifles, I have .22-250 Rem, 243 win, 308 win. All for hunting, but I want to ring some steel at 1000yds, not easy in the UK...

@@markandsamafterwork Made a hell of a lot of sense, I guess some of it comes down to affordability.. a decent 300 cal bullet in the states costs $1, here in the UK it costs £5 or $6... so a Lapua 338 is not affordable to us poor mortals to be reloading. Because we are so limited in England, 1000 yds is probably all I can get on any of my permissions & ranges are pathetic, so I have learnt a lot from your comments. I guess what I want is to shoot a gnats knackers at 1000yds and it's not achievable... strange, I'm also tuning my .22LR, horses for courses you seem to be saying and its absolutely correct. Thanks for reply bud.

.300 win mag is a great cartridge. I made that switch in 1999 and never looked back. Killed lots of deer and elk with mine DRT. I've shot it longer ranges, but 2 miles holy crap and 9 seconds flight time is a long time out in the wind for sure. Amazing

Well now you've really done it. I got into 243 win after watching your videos, now I've ordered a 300 Win Mag. Just a thought, are the Zeiss Conquest V4s available in Australia? The 6-24x50 might fit the bill for one of your "budget" rifles. Should be about half the retail as the Attacks you like. MOA reticles in SFP, roughly 100-110 minutes if elevation. Can't wait to see the updated rifle, thanks for the video!

Hi Joe, ah well 2/3's the cost and that is 90 moa adjustment, but still a descent scope, but a little more than a budget cost, here are my thoughts on that subject ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A83oARkPL4Q.html Cheers

What rifle are you using for this shot and let's say I had a Benelli Lupo or a Browning BLR in .300 wnmag (24 in barrel) and tried this, would it work and why not if it wouldn't?

Grabbed a .300 WinMag for deer as a youngster ....and 180gr loads...shot one deer...exchanged for savage tactical 308 afterwards. 300 does terrifying damage to anything smaller than mid size game...tore her opposite shoulder completely out. Worst part; it didnt drop her and I was literally following chunks of meat/lung for 200 meters. Threw her on her side on impact, but she jumped up and tore off. Crazy energy on the 300 WinMag.

Been shooting a 300 win mag since 1977 have never seen anything like that...never had an animal get up after a 180gr @2900fps (muzzle) punches it....and this 300 has filled alot of tags from alaska, washington state, montana.....moose elk grzzly black bears whitetails and muleys....only had to shoot 2 animals more than once. 1 black bear and 1 cow elk

Awesome video !! Which barrel maker are you going to go with for your new barrel?? I'm looking for a 28 inch for my 6.5 creedmoor and there are so many barrel makers out there!! It's really hard to decide!!

Thanks Man, this will be a Maddco barrel, but I really don't think there is much in a barrel, any good barrel maker in the right profile is going to work well, Cheers

Do you find that some ammo performs better at extreme distance than at average long range shooting ? I mean like the ammo stabilizes at a longer range so it won't shoot as well at short ranges like 100yrds but out performs the ammo that shoots a tight group at 100 yards for instance at extended range? If that makes sense.
@markandsamafterwork
@markandsamafterwork 3 года назад
Rarely, but some ammo/combos can settle down over 2 or 300 yards, but good from there on, Cheers
