I like long format better, and I miss a lot of the shorts, but I totally get the exposure part.

1. I’d be interested to see how many of your views for long form videos were from subscribers. You could then try to put a dollar value on the percentage of revenue from new subscribers from shorts (and at that to the value of shorts) 2. You mentioned focusing on quality instead of quantity, but did you have a sense which of your shorts were going to do well ahead of time? Seems like there’s a lot of randomness that is difficult to predict, in which case putting out more videos may be the better strategy. 3. Do the same shorts perform well across platforms? If not, is there a certain style of short that does well on specific platforms?

I'm guessing that 50% of the shorts I thought would do well, did well, and the other 50% were random or even ones I thought were "throw away" shorts. generally shorts that did well did well across all platforms. There were outliers that only did well on one platform.

i tried something similiar(different account) where i posted a short a day for 30 days. i gained a lot of subscribers but my views on long form stayed the same but my CTR dropped a lot on my long form videos. Which most likely means, subscribers gained from shorts had 0 interest in my long form and youtube probably tried pushing my long form to this audience and weren't clicking or watching. what has been your experience? you doubled in subscribers, are you getting more views on your long form videos than you were a year ago?

I’ve seen an uptick in long-form videos and they seem completely unrelated. My new long-form content does seem to be going to all subscribers but not at the rate of shorts. YT will push shorts to anyone and everyone it seems. My long-form content seems very limited in who it gets pushed to or the competition is just higher and my content can’t compete.

Time to unsubscribe. Ppl dont like shorts spam, make real videos instead. And stop using premiere feature. That and shorts ruined youtube.

"ppl" here is anecdotal, do you have specific information to draw from on this conclusion? I think you'll find that doing regular quantities of shorts versus long-form videos will actually take you less time and generate more traffic and (probably) revenue. A high-quality, long-form video can cost a single creator 3-4 weeks of their time and perhaps there will be no payoff, but a 1-minute short with minimal post-production may cost you an hour or so a day, but drive much more engagement.

I love the shorts! Seems like most RU-vid videos can be compressed into one minute rather than being drawn out. If I want more detail, than I can watch the longer form version.
