Thanks for the video. Bout to do the same and watched a few videos and no one ever talked about the belt which was a huge reason why I haven’t done it yet
@@jcwindevillose so I'm still running the stock belt because the tensioner pulley was still within specs with the stock belt and haven't had any issues 👌🏼
One quick little tip if you're struggling with putting a shorter belt on, you can remove one of the long alternator bolts and let it drop just slightly in the cradle. This will shorten up the distance just a bit letting you get the belt over the alternator pulley. Once the belt is on, use a long flathead screwdriver or thin-ish prybar to lift the alternator back up and slide the bolt back in. EASY PEASY!!! :)
K060923HD is the famous "Green" Gates Belt part# recommended by MechMan. It is a 92-7/8" (not an exact 93" length belt as mentioned by the that parts seller that posted in the comments, which is why I am sharing here)
Curious, have you scanned for codes and see if you get a P1637 Alternator L terminal code? I did a mechman alternator in October 2022 and installed the same way No battery light or engine light, but that code continues to show up
Also, your blinker spaz is most likely due to a faulty LED, or LED diode that is built in to you internet bought light housings. It's not uncommon for the GMT800 platform to spaz when retrofitting LED's or any other aftermarket electronics. These trucks have a very sensitive electrical CANBUS system that can be impacted by the smallest things!... there are a few tricks you can do to eliminate LED fast blinking, such as specific turn signal relays designed for LEDs, diodes with at least 5ohm resistors(dependingon how far off from stock you actually are), or CANBUS friendly LED lights. Hope you get it sorted out! Great looking truck BTW 🤜🤛💪
Did you have the 145 amp alternator stock what rpo alternator code ?. Do you have to use harness or can I just plug it in without wiring into fuse panel? I understand I'd have to upgrade positive and negative wires from alternator but I fail to understand why everyone uses some kind of bypass which I don't like idea of bypassing stuff. Your lights are having issues because such low draw it is making relay think it is out. Maybe look for blinker relay for LEDs? Also I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe LS with Bose same color I want to upgrade my alternator so I can run an inverter when my home loses power.
I'm currently running my stock belt because I'm still in the proper range indicated on my tensioner pulley. So I would start with your stock belt size and figure out that length and then you could try going to a little bit smaller of a belt if you're alternator pulley is smaller than stock. If the smaller belt is difficult to get on because it's a little tight, you can take a bolt out of your alternator so that the alternator swings down so you can slip the belt on.
I'm currently still running my stock belt because it seemed to still be within specs on the tensioner pulley and I haven't had any issues yet, but I'd like to go with a little smaller than stock in the future
