Last year I had my last trackday in Ohio and the Z nearly stranded me outside of Pittsburg. It was doing weird clutch things and by the time I got home I couldn't get it into / out of gear while the engine was running.
This video is about the teardown of the vehicle and finding the issues.
This would be a great video to watch if you are considering dropping the transmission on a Z34 or are wanting to install a CMAK kit or wondering if the CMAK from Zspeed is worth it.

How many miles did the car have? Mines at 96k and looking to replace slave soon but not sure if i just do a full clutch job

I’m in this process now but my gear box/tranny won’t separate from the motor easily. Everything is removed and I can only get a 1/4 inch gap but the gear box will not come off. Was this a struggle for you at all?

So first, double check all the bolt holes. IIRC there are 8 big boi bolts going from trans to engine and 4 littler bois going from engine to trans. There is a drain line on top of the trans held in by one of the big bolts and I forgot to fully undo that one my first time. Then if you are a million percent sure that everything is disconnected. Just wiggle it while you pull. Wiggle the trans left to right, wiggle it on its axis of rotation (like doing a barrel roll? If that makes sense?) More than one person is recommended if you don’t have a lift and a transmission jack, because they can wiggle and you can pull. Also check that you aren’t hitting the trans tunnel or that the shifter isn’t still installed (it would hit the body as you pulled backwards) It takes a little effort to get it out but it wasn’t like an hour long endevour. It was like 2-3 minutes worth of “shake it!”

How heavy was that CMAK kit?

Heavy meaning how much weight was added to the car? Or like how quality did the assembly feel?

@@konradchristen Sorry yes I just wanted to know if the item itself was heavy seeing as how it was made of steel, I have no doubt it is quality!

@@joaquinmalagon9343 I don't recall how heavy it was truly. I don't remember thinking "wow I am adding so much weight to my car. But in hindsight for the reliability of my clutch once making this mod, I literally wouldn't care about how much weight it adds because the vehicle behavior is so significantly improved.
