37308 went to rescue failed 66250 that had failed, the 37 is seen here growling up the Lickey Incline with the dead class 66 in tow and the empty steel wagons filmed from Vigo Bridge. Date was 17/08/2003
Poor thing, flogging it pieces to pull up the grade! Nice one though, considering that's a first generation Diesel. Lucky to capture the scene on video. Thanks for posting it 😉👊👍
😮Fairly new to the thrash and clag scene but have the class 37 sound etched on my memory due to one appearing out of nowhere for the Weardale cement trains at Stanhope, County Durham when passing through. I have become a Lickey incline fan even tho I have yet to visit it.
Lack of serious clag shows how clean these older engines run when worked hard under load. They may not be as fuel-efficient as modern locos, but they still work.
Cleaner running shows least they burnt the fuel they got through, English electric 12csvt engines apart from 37/9: mirrlees blackstone mb275Tt or Ruston Rk270Tt
This is just a slight slope compared to the Tyne Dock to Consett branch up here in County Durham, double headed 37's used to haul 800 ton iron ore trains up a 9 mile stretch with 1 in 49 and two stretches of 1 in 35 with some wicked curves, two 9F's did it in the days of steam...
@@bonkeydollocks1879 I'm sure it is, I don't want to get into a dick measuring contest over rail line gradients but the Consett branch was brutal, have a look...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eeOnudmiqzU.html
I'm glad a British designed and Built loco is dragging this shed out up a severe grade like the Lickey. Why do we have to import shit from abroad when we make better ourselves without even trying?
Yes much quicker between Pz - Ponsandane, and the Cleaning Sidings at Long Rock, but the Coupling was soooo heavy. With the 08 Pilot, one hand could be used, but with the 50, you had to get underneath to couple-up each time.
Thanks for noticing that Ben, but it is me in both cases, I changed to Ex B.R. because that's what I am now, not sure where CJB came from though. Cheers Chris.
Ex B.R.Buckeye man. CJB oh right I only said that because u questioned wether wat engine the 37 had and I thought u said u worked on them or drived them or something and I thought u should of know wat engine it had and I thought it was some one else who didn't know sorry
Isn't the diesel motor just a generator for the traction motors? So you're not likely to hear it struggle, as it doesn't take the weight of the train itself?
It's a single loco carrying hundreds of tonnes including another failed locomotive, not to mention it's dragging all that up the steepest mainline gradient in Britain. What do you expect? Idiot.
