Not The Footage I Was Hoping To Record It’s Never Good Seeing A Brilliant Loco Having Problems. It Sounded Very Unusual On The Outward To Preston And Was Stuck At LAncaster For A While On The Return. Eventually it got moving again before running into trouble again around hest bank before crawling into carnforth. All Good Now Tho As 403 Was Back Out A Few Days Later
LONG LIVE THE 37s

Amazing engines, beutiful design. Every single vehicle needs attention occasionally, but its a tough old boot when despite its injuries it still does the job!

Yes. Isolate the compressor, make sure its not on fire and carry on using the other on. With only 4 carriages still plenty of air

I was stuck on that train for 2 hours at carnforth right in front of the station but we couldn’t move into the station. It was probably the funniest thing that has ever happened to me on a train. It was boiling hot in the coaches because there was no AC and there was no free water or anything. Thanks northern 👏🏻.

Deltics used to bring 40 or 50 wagons into Shildon Shops for repair when I was a kid in 70,s, wonderful noise, which I never forget
@beeble2003

Are you sure about that? Deltics were express passenger locomotives; seems very unlikely that they'd use one for hauling wagons for repair.

Obviously this engine was hot 3:19 but I wonder if they would start easier when cold if the engine speed governor was overridden for start up so that the engine wasn’t flooded with so much Diesel while turning her over trying to start.

Push-pull operation was in use between Glasgow and Edinburgh for many years using Class 47s. There was a nasty accident at Polmont in 1984 when a train with the engine propelling derailed after hitting a cow and 13 people died.

@@alexsteel5959 No it didn't. The Edinburgh-Glasgow services were push/pull class 47s until at least the early 1990s. Class 86/87/90+DVT combinations were in use on the WCML until 2006 and the London-Norwich line until this year, and class 91+DVT is still on use on the ECML.
