I second the inflatable kayak idea. Katie has one and it felt very solid and secure.

So pleased to hear that your second big sail on the Atlantic was a bit calmer than your first. 210nm in 33 hours is quite an adventure in relatively kind seas, but think how bad it could have been if you had departed a few days earlier. You are both very brave for taking this on. Thank you again for sharing your adventure with us.

Yes, we learned the hard way that hope is a bad choice with the weather... The second time was much better, albeit it was a lot of motoring. But - unless you are a hardy strong wind sailor - which we are not - very often you face the choice of (too) strong winds or no(t enough) wind. For the crew and the boat's sake we try to err to the latter. But we'll continue pushing the envelope... slowly...

Hi Daniel & Kathrin, re kayaks, we have an inflatable double kayak which works well for us. It’s an Itiwit X500 from Decathlon. They do singles too which might suit you better. We have proper sea kayaks at home so like the fact that it feels solid (same construction as modern paddleboards) and can take spray decks to keep you dry and warm. Hope you have a good winter in Largs with Mark & Asha - we hope to visit them over there at some point so will maybe see you then.

Great film, nice run. Do you not have a genneker or a reaching sail for down wind?

It‘s a bit of a handful just for the 2 of us…

Well done Daniel. Not an easy passage. And over 200 miles in little more than 30 hours is a very good score. My last passage from Porto to Cascais, in Portugal, was 162 miles in 31 hours. All motorsailing with 10 winds right on the back. I must confess that after I get into the Med I am not sure I will go out again. So to see Scotland I might consider Chartering a sail boat. Do you happen to know any charter company operating in Scotland? Thank you and till next time. Maurizio

Thank you Maurizio. You know, that‘s what we say too - once in the south we might never return to the cold. That‘s why we started up here… There are plenty of charter companies and boats up here on the west coast of Scotland- not a problem to find one. But further north it might become more difficult to find one. Let me know when your desire to sail in Scotland becomes overwhelming …

@@sailingpolaris thank you Daniel. Starting from the North was also my original idea for this trip, but the boat got ready too late. We will keep in touch. West Scotland will be fine for my first Nordic venture. Maybe the summer after next. Next summer I will tour the Med. Looking for your next video.

Beeing far from knowing how to sail even on a lake, I can only imagine what it means to conquer the Atlantic. Happy to see that you managed to do this unharmed. Kayaks sound like fun. I came across some nice inflatable Kayaks while researching for potential equipment for our home on wheels. Maybe something for you even though the inflatables are not as sturdy as fixed ones Take care and looking forward to welcome you in good old Switzerland ❤
