I've really been fighting through these last few weekends. I've run out of money and time ahead of my redundancy and having to move out of the house.
This episode, I cut and fit the back door panels using what used to be the rejected ceiling panels. It's a ball ache.
I paint the ceiling and using some editing magic, I make it look fun.... it wasn't.

Been binge watching your progress on the van build for the past couple of days now matey, and ive got to say I love your no "bullshit" approach in the whole presentation of your videos, putting me in good sted in preparing for our van build. Thank you for taking your time in documenting your progress for others like myself who are looking for "hints, tips and inspiration" ( best in-depth progression van build I've found on here so far ) looking forward to your future videos ! Slight moment of gut wrenching fear at "let me show you my pump!" Followed by a wave of overwhelming relief!! Looking good, it's gonna be a cool pad on...slightly soft, wheels! ;-)

I kinda have. I did some exercise in a couple of vids... I talk about food in others. I might be the last person to give van food tips. 😉

Curious, why did you use oil based and not acrylic wall paint?

Good question. The primer in THIS video is water-based, the top coat in the next video is oil based. My decision came from the kind of finish I wanted. Im shooting video and harsh reflections are no good. I wanted a flat white, as close to matt as I could, while not being susceptible to moisture damage. Acrylic gloss has come a long way, with the way it flows and dries. My experience of eggshell is that water based dries way too quickly on the brush and doesn't flow well at all.

Mevi OK cool, just the finish then, I was thinking it had something to to with moisture absorption or mold or something similar. I o ly ask because I'm about to paint my panels antique white, (they'll be covered with cladding later but the inside of cupboards will be left white.) and didn't want to screw it up by using the wrong paint.

I need to explain better in the videos! A lot of my rambling ends up lost in the cut! I fully expect (and want) to redecorate from time to time. Wood will get dings, scuffs, stains, etc. whatever you paint it with. Bathrooms generally dont turn to shit within a year and people put waaaay less thought into paint finishes beyond picking up a tin of Dulux Bathroom.

Im always curuios when people say " Im out of money" When I utter those words, that means I have 0 money. I cant buy a cup of coffee. No savings, nothing in the bank. flat fucking broke.

Very true. Every purchase takes me further into the red I'm already in. After my redundancy pay next week, that's it until I find another job.

Mevi I've been self employed now for the past 10 years, wouldn't have it any other way to be honest!

I really admire that. I honestly have never had the stones to do it myself. There is very little self employed work in my career in mental health/ substance misuse/ criminal justice.

Well I guess that is a trade off for being your own boss. Wishing you prosperity. 😊 I can see the appeal though. Maybe one day, but in the short-term, I'll temp or something. Vanlife is cheap.
