His passes were sick. Best highlight passer of all time. I mean which player can throw half court bullet passes from half court..lmao??? And hes so small..lol. His jumper improved. U say U miss that Sac team back then??? Well everyone says LA Clips were known as Lop City. Well Toronto Raptors back 1999 & early 2000s were lob & dunk city..lol. T-Mac & Carter were crazy..lol. Even the home crowds were cheering for the Raps when they were dunking...lol. We had alot of high flyers here. Even Antonio Davis could dunk. Then later yrs we had Bosh, Demar, Ross, Jamiero Moon, Weems, TJ Ford, Andrea, JV, Keon Clark, Jones, etc... LOL we had alot of slam dunk champions & former contestants..lol. We still do even now..lol. During the Carter era we were so exciting that American stations came up here to Toronto & broadcast our games..lol
Jay Will threw that behind the back elbow pass is what separated him from the rest. And he did that in an actual rookie allstar game..lol. No mistakes & it was so quick I needed the replay to see what he did. Best highlight passer of all time. But with smart fundamental passing & Basketball IQ passing. I think Magic & Kidd were better in that regard & made the right plays. Had less turnovers than Jay Will. Best Dunker of all time has to be Carter. Especially what he did to that 7 foot French dude in the Olympics..lol..sick...haha:)
Graham Thalacker Dude he never did an off the elbow pass in an actual game & he couldnt throw a bullet half court around the back passes as fast as Jay Will..smh...LMAO 😂??? Notice I ONLY stated that Jay Will is the BEST highlight passer. I never said he was the best pin point/accurate passer. And not the best fundamental passer in the game. Hes still very pin point/accurate. But his passes are very risky & can cause more turnovers. So Re-read my comment carefully in what I am saying..lol
Justin Yau I'm not old enough to remember seeing Pistol Pete play live but I've seen him on RU-vid clips and he was a great passer as well, but white chocolate had some really unbelievable passes in real games that I haven't seen anyone do before or since.
Some of you people seriously under-estimate the level of the NBA. It is extremely, extremely hard to get to the NBA.....Anyone who does make it, doesn't make it through dumb luck, they are DAMN good. Jason Williams is an NBA level player. I can think of an example showing the level of the NBA with Acie Earl. An absolute nobody in the NBA, playing 1-2 minutes a game. Went to other leagues including the NBL (Australia) and was putting up 30-40 a game. Anyone who makes it to the NBA, deserves respect... It really frustrates me how people disrespect players who may not be overly skillful in the NBA, like Quincy Acy (present) and Ben Wallace (past) (apart from defence)...These guys are great players, in the best league in the world.
That's ture, anyone of them is a great basketball player. Don't remember who said this, anyone in this league could be a superstar or a score machine, all you have to do is let them shot the ball during the game. Let alone those who are already famous, in good way, apparently. Just it is impossible to let all of them to be superstar, there are players such as Jordan, Kobe, T-mac, Iverson, Lebron who are extremly incredible which make the rest of all, umm.., you know, seems not that good.
Nash still has the skill just his body is getting to old to do it. If he went against guys like Jason Williams is going against he would look like he should still be in the nba because these guys are not getting payed big money so less likely of an injury
The one thing I will always respect about J Will is that he always looks relaxed and composed. It was also cool how even in retirement, you can see how fun he makes the game for everyone on the court.
"White Chocolate" - one of my fav NBA player of all time. This dude and And1 tapes got me pulling all sorta silly stunts on B.ball courts way back when - lol
Dude was freak nasty. Even back in high school he was ahead of his time. I remember him at DuPont throwing balls off the glass to Randy Moss. He had handles as good as anyone who ever played. His crisp passing and vision were insane.
I am a great passer. It is not vision or you can call it that. It is knowing where people are going to be. It is strange, you just know where people are at. I just do not have his handle, actually my handle is awful, but passing I can make people look dumb.
I loved him as soon as he came into the League. He didn't always make the best play, but come on, the NBA is about entertainment too. It's nice to see him looking healthy.
Basketball is (in my opinion) the most artistic of all sports. This is why so many highlights are compiled and all set to music. When it comes to a player like Jason Williams this is what people fail to realize. They were not in the NBA by accident. There are two types of basketball "Style" "Style as opposed to substance" and "Style by way of substance". For all great players, whether you are an NBA player or a playground legends it comes down to one question, "Is your style at the expense of your substance?" Ultimately (more so than talent) stability will determine your success and how you are seen in the court of public opinion. The issue is when the art of the game makes the team play unstable. Jason Williams is a vastly talented basketball player with a wealth of fundamental skill that he extracted from to do the amazing and impromptu things he did on the court... He was a guy that had "Style by way of substance" and yet the Sacramento Kings traded him for a capable but much less talented Mike Bibby. Why? Because Jason Williams could not answer the question that was posed to Bob Cousy, Earl Monroe, Pete Maravich, Nate Archibald, George Gervin,Connie Hawkins, Isiah Thomas, Tim Hardaway Sr., Allen Iverson,Steve Nash, Jamal Crawford, Kyrie Irving (to name a few)... "Is your style at the expense of your substance?" For the great majority of players good enough to be talked about but never made the league, they all get a pass because while they provided great art on the court they simply didn't have the skill to be in the NBA. But for Jason Williams, Kenny Anderson, Michael Ray Richardson, Steve Francis... guys that we loved to watch but faded into near oblivion the question remains... "Is your style at the expense of your substance?"
Even HE say Sacramento made the right choice but since I was not a Sacramento fan AND they didn't win it all WITH Bibby, and I LOVED to watch Jason, I wished they had've kept White Chocolate...
The NBA is entertainment and guys like Pistol Pete and White Chocolate entertained. Their styles rubbed some people the wrong way but their talent and showmanship couldn't be denied...
My sister-in-law taught Jason in elementary school in Charleston, WV. Jason was high school team mate of Randy Moss (of the NFL). My brother and s-i-l were and are still good friends of Jason’s parents. When my nephews were little boys, Jason taught them how to play basketball.
say what you want about jason but that fact is he saw plays that no one else saw and that's what made him fun to watch. i really believe if he had a coach to temper that vision with more disciplined guard play, jason would have been a special player.
He was smart and quit before injuries started. He is against people his own age were never nba players Nash would look this good to. When Nash went to the lakers it was kinda selfish of him as he knew his body can not handle the nba not his skill. But nonetheless he when from 6th all time assists to 3rd time all assists in lakers so I don't blame him
Oh please everyone, he's better than all of you here. At least he got a ring. Stop spreading negativity and start to appreciate what he can still do, okay? Please.
Won't lie this has motivated me to get off my ass and start back hooping....although I'm not an ex nba player lol!! Good to see he never lost his skill, I imagine there's a bunch in the same boat...
The opportunity for creativity the game of basketball provides is my favorite thing about the sport. Fucking Jason Williams had more creative moments in one game than I would have had in a year of hoops. Brilliant.
Jwill is soo underrated.... sure he may not have had a illustrious career like some of his PG counter parts.. but he is still prolly one of the best in game passers in the NBA history
38 is still young!!!!! My father last dunk was @age45. And he's 6'1. Now he's 60.. and still balling with me in men's tourneys. He travel all over to ball up in the U.S. running around like he has 21 year old legs.
Meanwhile, 38 year old Dirk just dropped 40 again in an NBA game as a 7 footer in March 2016!!!! So under appreciated. JWill was one of my favorite player growing up though... behind Dirk
I always enjoy watching guys with vision and handles. He's got panache which may not sit well with teammates focused on the business of winning. Nice to see JWill on the courts.
The NBA is a very exclusive club where only the best of the best make it, and those better than the best of the best start and play 20+ minutes a game. And those 5 players that make all NBA are better than those that are better than the best of the best
Hes 38 goin against players half his age. Austin Rivers, Courtney Lee, Patrick Ewing Jr, Nick Calathes (nba players) and a handful of D1 college players are shown in the video. Jwill killin professional overseas players also the last 2 years. Quit bein haters and enjoy one of the greatest entertainers in league history still doin his thing!
The greatest point guard of all time.. when him and iverson went at it.. it was truly something special and we'll never see a match up like that again I'm afraid.. legends.. real legends. He is the reason I played basketball. All good things must come to end but are never really forgotten. Miss watching you play the game.
Difference between Jason Williams and the rest of the street ball legends is that he did this shit in the freaking NBA where they actually played D. This guy was born to dibble a basketball.
