According to various industry sources Superyacht MULTIVERSE is the 4th largest explorer yacht in 2023. MULTIVERSE, also known by many under her previous name ULYSSES has been cruising the Leeward islands during early August 2023, calling the BVI, St. Barthélemy or as seen here in St. Maarten.
The yacht was berthed at the time of filming in the commercial port of St. Maarten for taking bunkers and in preparation for receiving new guests on board.
The 2016/17 built vessel is full of superlatives. The steel construction of hull and superstructure took place in Norway. Green Yard, formerly known Kleven Shipyard, is not a traditional builder for yachts. Actually they are known during the later years in the world of commercial shipping for producing excellent work ships serving the offshore industry, like platform supply vessels or anchor handling tugs. But they also built smaller cruise vessels, reefer ships or chemical tankers.
Looking at their designs in general you can say they build vessels for mainly trading in harsh environments. Most probably that was one of the reasons why the first owner of MULTIVERSE decided to award the guys in Ulsteinvik in Norway with the contract for an extreme expedition yacht.
As the story goes the wealthy individual from New Zealand had been confronted by the builders to agree for such kind of product only under the condition that he’s going to sign for TWO units - based on Kleven’s platform MT5006. Not a bad choice if you are looking for a yacht with hardly any limitations in cruising the globe.
And so it happened, both parties came to an agreement and that is the reason why there are two nearly identical sister vessels existing with the names ANDROMEDA (first unit - which previous name was ULYSSES) with a length overall of 352’/107m, a GT of 5,397 tons and a slight difference in some deck space design.
Thereafter, MULTIVERSE (which was at that time named ULYSSES and subsequently the first ship was renamed to ANDROMEDA) had been delivered. Right after the completion of her construction she went for exterior and interior outfitting to Dörries Maritime in Bremerhaven/Germany.
The yacht has been fitted with a helipad (originally fitted with a Bell 429 and under its new owner replaced by an Airbus Helicopter H145), and some toys…like a Princess 68, a VanDutch or a Hydrasport 53 which can bee seen in this video.
Stay tuned for more captures and additional information on our channel for this yacht during the next couple of weeks.
