Nowadays rappers pass off written's as "freestyles" using Big Daddy Kane's definition (free of style writing) as an excuse to not go off the top when asked to kick a freestyle. Nobody is expecting your freestyles to be as good as your writtens, but it's a necessary skill to be considered a great MC. Just saying why call yourself the best if your're scared to freestyle?
