In this video, I will be showing you how to make a 3D paper lampshade using triangular units. Simply cut down the watercolour paper with the template, followed by assembly of 20 triangular units. This result in an abstract 3D geometric sphere which resembles icosahedron.
With the geometric design, this lamp/lantern is a great decorative item for your contemporary living.
Please use a low energy LED globe that is lower than 10 W for this DIY project.
This pendant lamp measures about 25 cm in diameter.

your handcraft is definitely amazing.but most of papers are too thick, they block too much light. And it is difficult to replace the bulb.

Thank you for sharing this video! Do you glue the small flaps as well? I’m trying to make this lamp, but when I have glued 5 triangles together the gap in the middle is much wider. I don’t see you glueing the smaller flaps in this video. (Only a pinch of glue in the middle of the gap)

Oh I allready found out. You have to glue the small flaps straight away when you shape every single triangle. If you do it later when they are glued together it’s very difficult.

i think you can simply print a bigger template on a bigger paper. that should solve your problem. don't think adding more than 5 units will work on this template though i'm not 100% sure as i haven't tried it
