If anyone is following this tutorial and is having trouble getting the logo to show in color, in the Bevel section in Element, turn on "Use Layer as UV" At 2:24 you will see he has that turned on but doesn't mention it. For me that was turned off in the default settings and took me a while to figure out what was missing. Also if the edges of the logo aren't straight or look wonky check these things: 1. Make sure the logo.png size is 1920 x1080. I had to put the logo in that size in photoshop and save it again. Then use that file to precomp. 2. When you Auto- Trace, check lower the Tolerance and Corner Roundness, to get straighter edges. You can see it when you hit preview before it actually Auto-Traces.
HERE IS THE COLOR GLITCH FIX: Make sure your "LOGO" layer is HIDDEN, make sure your "TEXTURE" layer is in view (NOT HIDDEN). When in ELEMENT 3D settings, custom text and masks for LOGO layer like said in video, but when doing custom texture and maps, when you link the TEXTURE to the Layer 1, changing the "sampling layer" to "FIRST FRAME" is what fixed it for me. I hope this helps anyone else stuck. once back in after effects, if your text/object is black/gray, switch the "Custom texture maps" layer 1, back to "current time" instead of first frame and it should work.
I have a problem , please help me out. i will be grateful. if i make logo using 3d models like box, cone etc present in create section of element , then that model is able to be saved and imported into 3D element scene . but when i autotrace any image in after effects and then apply video copilot's E3d effect load image on texture map and auto traced mask in mask map and open E3d scene set up and extrude that model in preview and and load texture on that and save it in folder whose destination is Documents/VideoCopilot/Models , then i am not able to import it . the E3d scene shows it, but E3d preview does not show the model but it is showing the gizmo of that folder which contains model . please help me out.if i make logo using 3d models like box, cone etc present in create section of element , then that model is able to be saved and imported into 3D element scene . but when i autotrace any image in after effects and then apply video copilot's E3d effect load image on texture map and auto traced mask in mask map and open E3d scene set up and extrude that model in preview and and load texture on that and save it in folder whose destination is Documents/VideoCopilot/Models , then i am not able to import it . the E3d scene shows it, but E3d preview does not show the model but it is showing the gizmo of that folder which contains model . please help me out.
@@SmertimbaGraphics thanks for response. I can make model via auto tracing a layer, and save it but can't import it if i want to use it in another project
I have followed all the steps correctly. But when I search for 'Element' in the effects and presets search bar it does NOT appear. I would like to add that I did in fact rename it before hand to 'elements'
Hello Guyz......If you are facing a problem with the texture mapping issue.....Just Create a new comp of the same size as the main comp and load the image into the layer section as it is.....and then try to follow the steps as mentioned in the tutorial
Another excellent tutorial. Although I can't afford Element 3D so I have to use Blender to get these kind of results. A bit of an inconvenience but it's free. Which is ace for a small business like me. Keep up the good work mate. Love your tutorials.
Hello, Blessings from Perú, how can i do if i dont have the Element plugin? Im learning After and have y made a couple of animation thanks to your videos, I'd really apreciate it if you help me with this little problem, btw is after 2024
Great tutorial, however, when I try to rotate the camera my logo does not rotate on the same axis, it disappears from the camera. It doesn't rotate like yours, could you give me a tip on that
Try doing this instead: add a null object, make it 3d, then parent a camera to the null object, animate the rotation of the null object instead to get a desired angle
pros brasileiros que asistem o video, FOI O UNICO TUTORIAL QUE DEU CERTO PRA MIM, e olha que texto o after effects e element 3d PAGOS, assisti um caralho de videos que nao deram certos e só me atrasaram, esse ai me salvou
When I create mask from AUto Trace it creates a separate solid layer for auto trace mask. And when I go into Element 3D and extrude, nothing shows up. Please resolve this issue ASAP. I have a deadline.
When in auto trace windows, there's a checkbox that says apply to a new layer, make sure it is not checked, then masks will apply to the same layer instead of a separate new one
This tutorial has helped me a lot. Used the tips in this for several projects. I have a request. Could you make a tutorial on how to animate the extrusion of a logo. As in the logo is flat, and then it extrudes up while the camera is at the side so the extrusion is visible?
Wow, i didn't know that holding ALT and the mouse buttons we can alternate the tools for camera, i always used the C button to alternate, thanks for sharing, great tutorial!!!... Greetings.
Amazing video! Very new to this space, so bare with me. But I'm curious if you can achieve this same effect (or similar) by exporting a 3D object created in illustrator? I have a simple logo that I created in Ai but I'm looking to make a short video of it slowly spinning in place.
I don't think you can achieve the same effect with built in 3d functionality. You have to build a 3d shape directly in after effects, but if you have a logo in illustrator it would make the creation process a lot easier, you could just import AI file and convert it into a shape.
like this tutorial very much - did i get it right, that i need a additional plugin (named Element 3D?) to create this? where can i find the plugin? thx :-)
Very helpful video but how do you spin the logo? I followed the steps but during the final step in camera rotation, my 3D logo doesn't spin correctly can you help me please?
Hello all. I am following this tutorial, but when I get the 1.27 create the layer/solid "element" and go to the preset, I cannot get as it is shown, I don't have the "video Copílot" that appears there so I cannot continue with the tutorial SO, Some how can I get that plugin (I guess is one) or help about it to continue with the tutorial.
When I select Custom Layer 1 in Diffuse (in Textures in Scene Setup) following all of the steps, it doesn't show my original texture in the preview window and when I hit apply, nothing changes. I'm using a .png and followed all of the steps exactly as you did in the tutorial. Are there other settings that must be in place for this to work?
@@SmertimbaGraphics I did all of the things you mentioned. I also changed my texture image to the same dimensions as my composition but that didn't help either. I may try to uninstall/reinstall element 3-d and see if that solves it. I appreciate your help!
When I click on autotrace, instead of just tracing the same "logo" layer, it creates another additional layer "auto traced logo" on top of the "logo", and then nothing appears when clicking on extrude. What could be happening? (remember I followed EXACTLY the same steps as you before this)
Hello. I have a doubt. Following your example, when I click on extrude, the logo appears all black. Does not appear in white. It gets totally dark. What could it be?
Nice way to keep the original color;) I had separated the elements in photoshop to put the colors one by one ^^, keeping in block can you do localize effects? Like rotating just the Burger while leaving the rest fixed?
I was thinking of doing that kind of tutorial at first, but then I realized not many people would go through the hustle of layer separations or auto tracing, so I decided to go with a simpler approach 😁 But yeah, separating the layers allows you to have more control over the elements as well as applying textures to them. That could be a video for future. Thank you for the feedback❤
@@SmertimbaGraphics Thanks lots for this tutorial; I'm learning a lot from you. A tutorial with separated layers with individual effects and textures would be incredible. Cheers.
bit of a late comment but i seem to have followed the steps correctly and when i click extrude it creates all the stuff on the middle/right hand side of the screen but doesnt create my model (stays the same as when i opened the element scene setup). Any ideas?
Hello can you help me . When I click ok after doing all the settings in element 3d the model appears black on after effects composition . Can you help me with this😭🙏
i followd the same steps but my logo in not showing when I apply diffuse I've tried five times even i reintall the plugins I've change the logo png file but again same issue its not showing my actual logo when i apply diffuse please help
There are ways of making 3d logo without plugins, but it might not look as good in terms of reflections and stuff. here are some examples: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vv-6nYHgVk4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hjcmafZQqHg.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AncnuhGuzvE.html
@@SmertimbaGraphics thanks buddy, honestly out of so many videos yours are the best, as I said before no skipping and you can achieve what you want, 👏🏼
I’m having the same issue, but I’ve done this 4-5 times correctly and love it. For some reason, it’s not centering anymore. I added brand name after Texture_Brandname, then removed the brandname and it centered but stretched it vertically…. Weird.
Был один затык. Спасибо. Дело было всего в одной кнопке. Orbital Around. Я всё думал, почему объект не 3д. До 2х ночи не спал. С утра стал вникать. 1 кнопка, Карл! СПАСИБО!
Hi! I have a question. The logo (png file) that I am tracing is a circle ring (like a donut) but when I auto trace in after effects and open in element 3d, it displays the full solid circle (not a donut/torus shape), its just a solid circle. The png file does have the inside ring cut out. Can you assist in how to trace it so it does cut out the inside? For example, think of the letter B in the burger king logo not cutting out the 2 inside holes)
I recreated the same scenario as you have described and it worked fine, meaning that it had a torus shape in element 3d. Make sure you when you auto trace the logo your preview is on get it to trace both outside and inside circles using the alpha channel
@@SmertimbaGraphics after I hit ok after seeing my settings of auto trace i cant see masks they are only avalible in layer but i cant visually see them in video screen
@@SmertimbaGraphics Thank you sir, and any ideas why the bevel texture wont load? im doing it exactly as you but i always have to load it through file because its still white
