I thought the principle behind the torsen differential is that a wheel gear cannot turn a worm gear. It looks like you're doing that here, by you turning the axle shaft (wheel gear). Maybe the worm gear doesn't have enough pitch? Maybe a little more resistance is needed somehow? But what a genius design!
There is flaw in his design. Housing for worm gears should be connected to what he calls Top Axle Slot in his 3d files. It should also be connected to big gear which in his files is called big pan gear. All of those three (housing, big pan gear and top axle slot) should rotate while "torsen locks itself"
What has to be considered when manufacturing the gears? 1. Is there a positional reference of the spur gears to each other? Tooth on tooth or gap on gap? 2. Is there a positional reference of the spur gears to the worm wheel?
@@rossfilbrun6525 the shafts are meant to lock up when one loses traction. Due to the backlash and tolerances in the gears, they spin in opposite direction. In a real Torsen Differential they won't be able to spin opposite directions
@@ronitpithani2661 I think this is normal in a torsen differential, when you rotate the axes in opposite directions, they rotate with an open diff, but when you lock an axis and rotate the box, it blocks, or i will be wrong. could have shown this in the video
The files for this on thingverse are wrong. the axle splines are to small and to many for the splines on the sungears also the sungears are too tall for both to be put inside the gear housing. even one at a time as is directed
You know our hearing works just fine... There is no need to cramp up the volume of the soundtrack. Something not so energetic worked just fine for this video
Very. So many video makers set out to do two things at once, entertain with "music" and educate. So one interferes with the other. It's distracting, so, detracting, so Irritating.
You can press "M" for mute. Or lower the volume. Or lower the volume in your operating system. Or turn your speakers down. Any of these are preferable to leaving negative comments on the internet on a video that is not even about the music.
@@neilbarnwell Or I could be honest and risk “offending someone” or “melting a snowflake.” By the way, there aren’t really any “safe spaces”, so thank you for engaging because communication is important and I’m sure you follow you own advice and aren’t a hypocrite like some.
