@@BigMuff75 one of the best games of 1999 with probably the most advanced graphics of that time. And it run very well on a Voodoo 3 2000 in 1024x768 maximum details.
So many memories... I had a Geforce 256 back in those days. I came from an ELSA GLoria XL that was good for 3D Max but terrible for gaming, massive difference.
@@efpcvintageplanet3406 Considering that the Voodoo 3 2000 was a mid-range card sold for 129 $ and released almost a year before Quake 3 it still manages to run the game very very well in 1024x768 with all details at maximum.
@@RealHero101111 Quake 3 runs surprisingly well with the Voodoo 3 2000 in 1024x768 maximum details. And Quake 3 not only was released almost 1 year after the Voodoo 3 but it also had very high system requirements for that period.
@@novinovic298 That is true for very CPU dependent games like Max Payne, Deus Ex, Warcraft 3, etc. But Quake 3 is not very CPU dependent, the P3 650 mhz doesn’t bottleneck the Voodoo 3. I tested it with much fast CPUs and the frame rate is the same.
@@3dfxvoodoocards6 Intresting considering other games based on Quake 3 engine do like strong CPU myb not as much as some other engines but it helps. I wish someone will do a proper retrospective of cpu performance in most popular engines of late 90s-early 00s era
@@novinovic298 yes later games that used the Quake 3 engine needed faster CPUs to run well. But Quake 3 being the first game to use the IdTech 3 engine, not so much, in 1024x768 a P3 500 mhz does not bottleneck a Voodoo 3 or TNT2.
@@Wobbothe3rd that's correct but I make those videos to see the FPS with the Voodoo cards in the games of that time. Image quality is of secundary importance.
@@jake_reviews_games Thank you. I tried to run Interstate 76 in Glide with the Banshee and Voodoo 3 but I couldn’t make it run properly. If I remember correctly the game showed some visual artifacts no matter what I tried. I will have to try again to make it run and if it works I will certainly upload a video with it :)
@@wowitsshit9734 A few months ago I tested Quake 3 with 3dfx OpenGL and curiously it was a little slower than with default OpenGL. The difference was minimal anyway.
