Received mine today and I can vouch for everything you're saying. It's a lump of expensive shit! The handle is useless and android app integration is AWEFUL. Going to return mine if I can. Waste of money.
I think the scanned object should not be placed on white paper, but on a characteristic ground or turntable would be better.Another object with rich texture features, you can try to scan with texture mode.
I agree. The turntable has ruts and numbers printed on it. The idea is to give the scan alignment features. In the Mario doll scan, since the scanner sees only what is up close, it could not see the room background to use it as alignment features. That is why some users lay the item flat against the turntable, scan again, then take both scans and merge them in the software. In summary: user error. If the reviewer used instead of a white paper a newspaper, or some flat thing with lots of details, the scans may have been more successful. Disclaimer: I'm not associated in any way with the makers and suppliers of the product.
if you look closely, on the Mario scan, there are big parts its just not scanning, even after several attempts. like the 2 buttons, and the forehead. this have nothing to with missing a turntable or a white paper under it
Doing it in such a dark enviroment surely played a part. This was staged for failure given multiple points showing incorrect usage of the device.@@ZaxMan3D
I'm trying to stay neutral on my view of this scanner. While I don't think they'll be able to truly live up to the hype they are trying to create, most of the issues highlighted in this video seem to be user error. There seems to be 0 effort put into adjusting software settings, adjusting lighting, proper scanner manipulation or part preparation (like using powder sprays).
Appreciate your point. Of course I adjusted settings and lighting. These are simple objects and don't need preparation. I scanned the same objects with the Mole and they are perfectly fine. Hopefully this will be fixed today.
I see a lot of user error. The side bar gives a guide to the distance you should be away from the object. You clearly are way too close for the sensors and are often getting red bars showing you to adjust your distance. Looks to be doing an actual good job at the cloud map considering how often your distance to the object is in the proper zone.
i am struggling with my seal received it few days ago and cant manage to get a correct scan... on your video i see device emits white light mine only blue is that normal guess not
3d Scanning and ever. technical is !! Always a learning curse““ no technical product works on the fly. Have you ever tried 3d photogrammetry? Then you know you have a really bad setting. The dcanner will do a good when the person know to handle it. But if a noob try you will get bad results.
Thanks for this. I have the lynx, and knowing that the seal is using the same software setup, and has similar alignment issues as the lynx is helpful. It clearly has better resolution, but looks like I has the same problems as the lynx.
Hmm) Interesting). I just backed up for it. This will be my first scanner). I really hope they will update software on both sides to make it look like on their videos). Did you had the latest version of software? Just asking).
@@TechWallsReview thanks for an informative video. Has 3Dmakerpro fixed the issue with the quality of the scans? If not, have they given you a date for the fix?
Good thing i watched as i was just about to prepurchase one. I was going to use to to scan full cars and engine bays but seeing thats its struggling to do small pieces. Ill keep using my iphone to scans cars and engine bays
It is not clear from this video if you got SEAL or SEAL Lite. The two version seem to be in identical housing, except that seal lite has worse resolution. It seems to be a bad choice by 3dmakerpro, to put these 2 scanner versions with almost same name and housing.
Man...I am one of the super early bird backers. I was so excited about this device. I hope they're able to fix these issues! Thanks for making this video.
Thanks for the video! I wouldn't call this test particularly scientific. Your hands are wildly unsteady. They also have a hand accessory which I believe is a gimbal, which might help you in handheld mode.
