@@thelastdragon5551 Because there are thousands of games Nintendo owns the rights to and that have never been released on anything other then their home console.
@@blackstealth8168 Ain’t that the point? They’re a traditional company. Their software sells their hardware. And you know Nintendo don’t take revenue loses on their consoles. BTW. I think you’re arguing about Nintendo not porting their games to PC, Sony, Microsoft, etc. OP saying Nintendo’s future consoles. Which is not true. Not false either because they’re not bringing 100% of the legacy games to IE Switch. That’s just cannibalizing their own current software sales.
@@thelastdragon5551 nintendo makes 0 effort to preserve their games, leaving you to buy old and used consoles that are being sold for much higher prices due to age and them being more rare (also bc more and more consoles will die off with no replacements bc they no longer are being produced) and will then swiftly punish anyone trying to circumvent that nonsense so they can experience the games on more durable, modern consoles. nintendo doesnt care about ensuring we can enjoy their products in the long run, but will also hunt people down who try and enjoy their products in the long run. wake up bro
Oh, thank god! My New 3DS XL was at System 11.16.0-49U, while Luma3DS v13.0.2. It's been pestering me to update to 11.17.0-50U all month long. I was so skeptical thinking it would've bricked my console. However, everything turned out fine! No issues overall so far. 😅👍
I have a homebrew'd 2DS. I've been purposely avoiding updating because I didn't know how without losing my homebrew. And I assumed the process would be a bunch of work. I didn't realize it'd just be a matter of updating Luma then doing the system update. Have a like for how easy and simple this video is to follow.
Same did it last night after booting it up for the first time in 2 years got pulled in by free themes after I updated I was like ummm I’m sure I wasn’t meant to do that dam. Best not to do things when your sleepy and excited just wanted to pay now I’m worried I’ll end up with a bricked system iff my 200 in one card in
All I've ever heard for years was, "Don't update your 3DS, you'll brick it!!" "Use another DNS to block their servers!!" This video proves them wrong. It's ok to update your 3DS. I did it 10 minutes ago with success! Thanks!
I already homebrewed my 3ds by the Dumping DSiWare method but it’s still interresting to see the others. I wonder how it’s even possible to hack a console by so much different ways. I am admirative. Good video, good explanation. Congrats! 👍
To think it's making 0 profits because of them as well 🤣 Personally I spent more money buying stuff on 3ds than switch this year. I knew it was shutting down server wise so I bought a bunch of cool games and themes. It's also the only way to play some GB Pokémon games on a semi modern console.
@@neonmangoz homestly i think thats the reason they shut it down, so people buy games out of panic. I bought a few games and havent played them at all :p
Hey, Anton! Do you ever plan on making a homebrew guide for Wii U? I would love to hack my Wii U and your guides are really great! Keep up the good work!
Works as of Feb 2024, I updated both an original 3ds and new 3ds xl units from luma 9.1 to the newest 13.0.2! I got universal updater from the github and installed off SD card as a CIA. After I updated luma using the the universal updater, I was then able to update the console just like normal ! thank you!
My 3DS forced an update on me since its firmware was so old i couldn't access the internet which meant i couldn't do most of the methods available. (I was on like 11.8 i hadnt touched the system in years) and because it updated before i had a chance to install the homebrew, it's like all methods have been closed to me. :( its really frustrating, especially since its an Old-3ds and the eshop is dead. wish me luck guys. maybe a miracle will happen
i'm not in the modding community and installed this stupid update from 3am tiredness and now i'm pissed off, i can't do anything as i don't have anything on the ds to scan the qr code let alone install luma was it, i don't really know what he was talking about i wanted to get a mate to mod it at some point i hope some one get around this thing and makes it available to the public ahh it's frustrating
Well do you have any of these games an actual copy digitally or physically? Cubic Ninja Any DSiWare Title Pokémon Picross Steel Diver:Sub Wars Freakyforms Deluxe R4 Card Mario Kart 7
Thank you for this video! I always want to make sure I update correctly to not lose my jailbreak so videos like this are extremely useful! Keep up the good work and thank you again!
despite I'm using the latest luma version and it's safe to update, I'm not updating right now because I'm not taking any risks with it, especially when you say the homebrew launcher could disappear from the home menu. you can still use many online features on 11.16. the only thing right now I see you need the latest version for is nintendo eshop which we all know is discontinued already. you can still play games online and all that other stuff. there's no way I'm letting nintendo mess with my 3ds consoles until I know there's a safe way where it doesn't mess with my homebrew apps or anything else.
If your console is running Luma 10.2.1 or higher, it is 100% safe to update. You can check your Luma version by holding (Select) while booting your console. If your console is on an older Luma version, you should update Luma before you update your console to 11.17.0. If your console does not yet have custom firmware, do NOT update to the latest version unless this guide instructs you to. If your unmodified console is ALREADY on 11.17.0, this guide has been updated accordingly. Specifically, New3DS-family consoles have a free software method, while Old3DS-family consoles will need to use alternate exploits that rely on external hardware or software.
when i was following this tutorial and updating the firmware, for some reason it made my version go back. so i recomend downloading from github, erasing the old ones and putting the new ones in their place
My modded 3ds is updated to 11.17.0 forgot to update luma 😢 I can’t update anything on it now. Can still play the games I put on it just can’t update download more games or use Wi-Fi. Not gonna add anything else on it either just incase. No clue what to do about it to fix it.
Just tried to homebrew my brother's slab 2ds after successfully homebrewing mine back in May. When I got to the step where I was supposed to enter the DSiWare section of the Data Management menu, it just showed an app with a garbled mess as its title. Seeing as my brother's 2ds is at version 11.17.0, I was worried I did something wrong until I found this video. Looking forward to seeing your next patch video!
I just tried to do (yesterday) the method from 11.16 only to realise that I can’t even do anything about modding my 2ds anymore. (I’m stuck at the DSiWare section where you have to make ur console read it, but it doesn’t want to bc of the 11.17) Will it be possible to find a way like the 11.16 method to mod it on the 11.17 ?
hey could you update the title of your 11.16 homebrew video to keep people from updating their 3ds to the newest version? I followed your tutorial and now i am screwed
Every time i want to update my 3DS it says, that there is an error, i see the loading screen, for the update, but after 1 minute or so it says that the system ist restarting and i shpuld try again, but it want work, can anyone help pls
I have a new3dsxl running 11.16 with current luma v13 and when I go to do software update, the bar doesnt load and at the end it says encoutnered an error updating. I have wifi connected.
just noticed my FW is the 11.17.0.50. RIP wish I knew that before starting a CFW process ugh. Hope a fix or update comes through so I can play some sweet games without buying another system so soon.
I plan on modding my 2DS soon. It´s still on 11.16.0-49E and the update only just showed up after I tried getting into the eShop. Of course I haven´t installed it for now. Should I wait for a 1.17 homebrew guide for the system and update before modding or should should I mod now and wait for a guide to safely update?
Hi i dont know why but i put a micro sd card in an adaptor and its formatted fat32 but my 3ds xl say could not detect an sd card. The software on the sd card could not be displayed
So I accidentally updated my system before updating Luma3ds and am no longer able to download cia files; is there anything I can do to download cia's again? Or would I have to re-hack my 3DS?
so if i have a normal 3ds xl with luma 13.0.1... can i update to the lastest version without losing the modded aps/homebrew?(i have an older firmware 11.6.0-39E)
just updated mine with luma 13.0.1 and I had no issues other than my theme was back to default after the update but nothing major so I think you should be fine! :)
Since I updated my 3DS XL with the latest version, my game files on the Sky3DS card cannot be read. I replaced it with R4 SDHC Dual-core, but it still couldn't be read. I saw on RU-vid that you have to download the software first. I've searched but still can't find software that is compatible with my 3DS XL. What do I have to do?
I had an modded wii and I was going to settings and it says do you want to update and i updated it and then it got bricked now I’m never gonna update any modded device
I have a huge question... So I've been playing Dragon Quest 9 on my new 2ds xl for quite some time, this game unfortunately has a lot of online features needed to get 100% completion. In short, will modding my new 2ds xl help me access those features? (I forgot to mention that I have the actual game cartridge!)
So Luma version 13.0.1 is now available. I hadn't updated since v11, so I got that safely taken care of. I'm assuming the Nintendo 3DS official update is still 11.17.0.5? I keep getting prompted to update, and I'd hate to update into an OFW that isn't currently supported.
I am so happy that I didn't update my 3DS when the prompt came. I was using Luma from version 10. something so this likely would have killed my system. Crisis averted!
I wasn't able to see the Luma version until I updated it so if anyone encounters that problem just go straight to updating the Luma I was all worried my select didn't work lol😅
A bit unrelated to the explanation on the video but I was curious if the update affects or blocks a R4 flashcart that previously worked without any issues.
Hi Anton, I installed the 11.17 Version before Updating Luma, but the Homebrew still works fine. Updating Luma after I watched your video worked. I initially hacked my 3DS with your old 11.16 video some month ago. Should i start fresh or leave it like that?
When I downloaded the app for the first time in the newest version and I realized that there was also GoldMode9 to update, I had a question: is it a problem to update GoldMode9 and Luma3DS with the console on?
Hey man, I know I already bothered you earlier, sorry for that. But I really need help on this and just can't figure it out on my own. I'm doing the ninjhax method, I had to buy a copy of cubic ninja for this. After a while you get to a part where you have to open slotool (however you spell that) from the homebrew menu, when I try to open it, it just locks me in a red screen. The guide said that if this happened, I should just try doing it again, I've been trying so many different things and the red screen keeps popping up. I'm getting desperate at this point. Would you happen to know how to fix this?
Update: if you have a old 3DS that’s still on 11.16 DONT HOMEBREW IT. I had a old 3ds that was 11.16 and when it was the part where I had to update it it actually UPDATES IT
