I absolutely enjoyed this video. Only suggestion I have is, I want to see where you are hooking up your test leads. Maybe a drawing of the transistor and tell us what we should see when hooking up our test leads. Great vid
Patrick is my dude. I've done a lot of business with him. I have a sundown sfb 5k that im trying to repair but not having any luck with it. I'm just now starting to try to learn amp repair. Would you mind answering a couple of questions for me when you have time please?
Hello. I am not familiar with those amplifiers. I would recommend pull out a couple of those MOSFETS and placing them on an Oscilloscope or transistor tester to determine electrical characteristics. From there, you should be able to find comparable FETS. a.co/d/67bfNAx
I deal with Patrick a couple of times on different items I have the same amp and like it! and a custom sub quad stack 15 he made for me. I was wondering how can I get in touch with you to have you check and repair a different amp that I have thank you advanced for your time.
@@joshholden8561 thank for the reply I’m in Michigan so you’re not that far away I’ll keep you in mind when I’m ready to send this app and it’s just an extra one laying around it turns on but it doesn’t do anything other than that I’m not using it and probably won’t, but it might be worth it just to send it in to get your expertise on it It’s a Rockville 2000 W half bridge amp I think it says DB 16
No input short nor output short hmmmm without opening it up id think a fet gave its best shot at life lol n dropped the ball but a popped pow input cap wouldnt suprise me n at turn on ya got fans already imma stfu n learn and thank you for teaching clear easy to grasp
HELLO I HAVE A TARAMPS HD3000. IT UST WANT COME OUT OF PROTECT. NO VISIBLE PROBLEMS ON BOARD EITHER SID. MOSFTES DINT READ OUT RIGHGT FRO WHAT I CAN TELL. ANY IDEA ON CHARGE TO REPAIR AND WOULD U BE INTERESTED
Shitty power or voltage n current available is the only reason full bridge becomes touchy its trule 2 pos classd amps strapped running off one power supply transformer set up. Its extremely easy to learn and understand the claszes of amps and wich n when either of 4 types shine and or outperform the next
If any amp has a single input theres your clear as glass reasoning n fault if you consider it a fault or accept it as. Misdirected misguided truths that are very very simple to understand.
So this amp n all of every amp shouldnt use bolt down mosfet holders because as things heat n or cool they grow or shrink that being a known fact measured by coefficent of expansionor coe for short. Ok now thats clear n non-arguable those same fets that are best to be clipped not clamped alwalys move on the surface their mounted too as its only purpose to remove heat allowing those thermal units to transfer to aluminum heat sink. The thermal paste along with kapton or other insulaters used arent forever nor are meant to be soooooooo guess ill just say it um.mm ya that thermal transfer paste n insulation arent meant to nor will last forever. If ya got big bucks into shit amps like say any jl 1k mono any deamore amps any amp thats worth value id assume we as consumers purchase to use a very long time if not our entire lives but that thermal paste sure tfk isnt made to last as theres hundreds of odd types n formulas of thermal paste all created with various intent of life span and just a guess but every amp ive opened up all use white plain azz thermal paste wich in normal usage has a life expectancy of four years n or less depending on hours of use and temp changes moving the fets every time across or against the sink that the kapton is supposed to prevent but cant cause their bolted tight n movement of using the amp straight up simple to grasp wears through the kapton usually faster the tighter its bolted rather than clamped so that the clamp allows for expanding n contracting of that pos aluminum heat sink. Now ill let ya get back to showing us all what ya found or how ya found it
