If you noticed, next to the medical wards, there was a prophylactic room. Before sailors went on shore leave they were issued sexual prophylactics (i.e. condoms). Upon returning to the ship each sailor would have their genitals examined for signs of VD. If a sailor showed and signs/symptoms of having acquired an STD, if you noticed in the enlisted men's head there were red seats which were called the "hot seats" and they were for those who had contracted sexually transmitted infections to invent any potential spread to the sailors who were STD free, as VD could affect combat effectiveness. Just like one can receive an NJP for being sunburned in a manner severe enough to hinder one's combat effectiveness.

Congrats on 3k! I love the Texas, it’s such a nice and old ship. The AA guns that you can move around are really cool too. Also, THE GEORGIA IS OUT!! I watched Wargaming’s video and the guy said it could get 11.3km secondaries, with the same accuracy as Massachusetts secondaries, have a 3 minute SPEED BOOST and recon plane. What more can you make out of that? It’s almost not American anymore! (Though it has American accuracy). Here’s more, I know I’m annoying. I’m currently 6 steel away from Flint. (REEEEEEE) so whenever I get to rank 7 and get more steel, we can have a smokescreen if we do the 3 Atlanta division! Anyways, great video, congrats on 3k, and have a nice day. Side note, just want verification that there won’t be a stream today. Thanks :)

Great video. Love looking around these old tubs. We were talking about seeing this last year but never got round to it. Got to the USS Constitution, Albacore and HMS Belfast only, last year. Keep it up

The torpedo looking thing you spotted early on does exactly what you said. Its called a paravane. They would tow them off to the side of the ship and attempt to cut the wires on mine a so they could deal with them. Loved the video man, keep it up!

1300 is 1:00 PM in military time and 1600 is 4:00 PM in military time. So, the amount of hours the barbershop was open afternoon was 3 hours.

How did you not know that the Battleship Texas is 105 years old? "Admiral Mountbatten" you need to wake up at 0430 and do some PT if you can't elevate (or on the other-side traverse the dual 40mm). Regarding your comment about the ineffectiveness of AA, by the mid 1940s the dual 40mm AA guns were controlled by a fire direction console and the guns moved via hydraulics from the gun site (with analog direction and range finder calculation) and the guns were fired from those consoles as well. By the time the USN had the fire control consoles, the manual traverse, elevation, and pedal firing mechanism were only used in case of a system failure). I am a professor of military history at a flagship state university in Texas (about 150 miles north of La Porte) where I teach history of the Colonial/U.S. military from 1750 to the present, Civil War & Reconstruction, U.S. Naval History, History of Nazi Germany, History of American Foreign Policy, a special topics class on the Civil War, a special topics class on WWII, and a class on post WWII U.S. military history. I'm glad to see that WoWs is getting your generation excited about the history of the U.S. Navy, but those who play the game should not just rely on the specs and info the game provides, but get into some archival materials regarding the history and operation of the military hardware you "armchair command". All in all good video. For someone who isn't a military historian, nor a veteran, I give you good marks on your videos. BTW, the cocaine alkaloid (the white powder which makes people high from the dopamine surge it provides in the brain was removed from all Coca-Cola products by 1915 when the Harrison Narcotics Act was passed in 1915....By the labeling that bottle of Coca Cola syrup was produced after the regulation of the alkaloid from the Coca plant and opiate products in 1915). Regarding your mentioning of narcotics several times during this video in WWII soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen were provided with 20mg dextroamphetamine (especially airmen and long range patrols which were > 48 hours and the morphine syrettes they carried contained 1/2 grain of morphine which is equivalent to ~ 30mg of morphine and was administer subcutaneously)

JT Stonewall Aggie Class of 2004 Ah yes I’ve been seeing your comments pop up all over my videos the past couple of hours. As for the age of the Texas I knew she was launched in the 1910s I just wasn’t sure of the exact year. I’m not sure how much you’ve seen about myself on the channel, but I am actually a high school history teacher back in the boot state. And no I am not in the best of shape, far from what a USN sailor would be in during the 1940s. But I appreciate your comments and info, as far as digging further into materiel, I actually have recently purchase “US Battleships” by Norman Friedman to accompany my night stand. But glad to see you’re enjoying the videos!

Until youre on the deck of the ship, i guess you never really knew how big these damn Battleships are. WoWs dont do them justice lol
@finnmoore8551
@finnmoore8551 5 лет назад
Indeed. I swear the scale js so far off in this game. Cruisers the size of battleships? Seems a bit iffy to me. But I'm not an expert in ship sizes.
@rinjaniii326
@rinjaniii326 5 лет назад
@@finnmoore8551 Well im no expert either but its not necessarily about the length or size of ships that makes them diffrent. Its the tonnage they carry that classifies them, see.
@finnmoore8551
@finnmoore8551 5 лет назад
That makes sense. I imagine the battleships are all technically more massive in game based in their health pools.

@@sealordmountbatten From what all I've read about her, and what you said, they are basically forced to keep pumps running at all times. There has been a couple of times a pump burnt out, causing a list and closure of the Texas to visitors

You mention the benefit of going to "officer school" (which is OCS, ROTC at the college level, a Corps of Cadets at a University with a highly regulated, uniformed ROTC program, graduate from a service academy, or in times of warfare if you are a senior NCO and attrition/casualty rates are high there exists the possibility for a battlefield commission. Regarding the china and getting to eat in the officer's mess. Yes, it is nice, however as an officer you eat the same food as the enlisted men, usually with the only difference being a higher selection of condiments. Your meal is served to you on china with silverware on a nice table. That is because of the term, "an officer & a gentleman". A ship's silver service is only used for banquets, special occasions, etc. It is not regularly used. The sh** of it is, officers have to pay for their meals which is deducted from your monthly pay. Whereas the enlisted men get to eat for free. But, you do have better quarters, better uniforms (which you also have to pay for)

God help me, I actually caught myself thinking, why go to all the trouble for a tier V battleship? Clearly, I play too much World of Warships.
