David Bacon, they are Pedro Brumester, Mário Laginha and Bernardo Sassetti (1970-2012), all portuguese. This piece is a part of a concert that took place at Centro Cultural de Belém and released as DVD by the national television RTP in 2007. By the time Sassetti died, they were planning to repeat this show, i think. Bernardo left us due to an accident, when he was walking near the sea, on a cliff. This concert included pieces from Mozart, Bach, Béla Bartók, Samuel Barber, among others and is unfortunately no longer available.
What a stunning interpretation and execution. I have never heard anything so good as this. It must be the finest performance of Bolero on record, orchestral or otherwise. Thankyou for that very interesting information. How sad to think of those tragic deaths, the performance adds to Ravel's genius the genius of this interpretation. As Cocteau said, in the hands of an artist, a copy becomes an original.
I love this three piano arrangement. Where can I find the sheet music? I would love to learn this with a couple of my piano player friends. Seriously, I have looked all over the internet for this arrangement and can't find it anywhere. This is brilliant!
Hi, Irene. I'm affraid but you'll not probably found this anywhere. This arrangement was made by this three portuguese musicians. Sadly, Barnardo Sassetti is no longer among us has he passed way a couple of years ago on an accident. You must try to contact Pedro Burmester or Mário Laginha to get the scores. This is, indeed, an absolute masterpiece.
Thank you so much for your reply. I'm sorry that Barnardo Sasseti is no longer with us. He was a beautiful pianist. But thank you for giving the names of the pianists in this concert.
