Ive always had an OEM+ type sleeper vision for my 3rd gen and now that I've seen this I want to build it even more. and now its gonna have a UZ in it??? Piece of art
Very excited for the build I hope you do a very in-depth information build on this I would like to try to see if I can do this stuff myself to my third gen 4runner.
@@DirtGarage gotta love the R series! This one will see some stress for sure, but with Marlin parts inside eventually, freshened up, it should be up to the task
I've had the same idea because I have A LS 400 and it's great on gas and I hear the V6s are not. So I would lovea suv like a 4 runner and drop that 1 uz in it
Excited to see the outcome! I've had my 3rd gen since new. Just dropped a 3.4 imported from Japan in it and redone about everything under the sun on the truck. Love my 3rd gen and next engine...... GONNA BE A V8 SWAP!!
I’m with you! I like as simple and “all business” as possible. OEM appearance with insane guts that you wouldn’t know about unless you opened the hood or looked under it
Yes, or LC100 4x4 2UZ also, both will go with no body lift. Body lift makes it easier though. They are sort of a more shallow mid sump than a traditional front sump like an ls400. Will need upper and lower pans, baffles, pick up tube, dipstick and hardware
Super Awesome 4runner Now even better!but could you do some follow up on driveline stresses especially in 4low with that new New beast motor.. 4runners are beast but I'm curious about this conversion.
Thanks! Will have to keep shenanigans to a minimum in 4 low. It’s more of a light throttle crawling gear. I’m picturing shattered 7.5” front diffs in my future if I try to get into power in 4wd at all. The rear in 2wd I am not worried about at all :)
Was planning on building a 1uzfe but could not find any proof that they actually can make that type of power. Everywhere i see people rate them at 350 even with a power adder
That’s likely thin rod engines on super low boost, like 5psi and limited supporting mods. If you’ve got FB, head over to “1uz, 2UZ and 3uz forced induction technical” page. Plenty of 1k+ whp examples.
I'll be watching this build for sure. My engine is running great, but I've always told myself, if it goes I'm doing a V8 swap. 3rd gen=best gen P.S. I love the steelies. I've been thinking that the OEM steelies from the new broncos might fit these rigs, but haven't done any research on that.
I need to get on it. I have a lot more parts gathered up. Some minor changes of direction (for the better). Still running the truck with the V6, so no actual surgery happening just yet! Getting closer!
I’ll be saving it in case I ever want to go back original with the truck. I will not be cutting anything or doing anything irreversible to it, it’s just too clean. I figure it would be smart to save the engine, trans and all of the harness for a day down the road or another project at least
It’s a lot of work. I have a close friend with a 2jz, single turbo, r150 3rd gen 4runner. It was a ton of work. That is a long engine, so tight fit length-wise. His 4runner runs like an animal though, and still retained 4x4
The driver side, which you're displaying to us here, is two different colors. The front fender and door are different color than the rear fender and door.
@@jakeofallterrains9048 oh! Sorry I thought you meant something about the engine haha. But nah, it’s never been wrecked. All vin matching bumper to bumper. Even the glass is vin matching. The tops of the front fenders, and roof had clear coat peel. The previous owner sent it to a body shop that did a poor job blending the re-spray into the doors, so you can tell in certain dim lighting. Once its all mechanically done, I’m going to have it done right. It does get to my OCD some
