@@chasechapman4689 hey buddy, are you running on rear lockers? oem? ARB? tell me, i'm building one N150, wish could have that capabilities, like this kind of content
I have one, same color, same year, mechanical A1. I have loaded it with up to 25 sheets of 8mm plywood in the luggage rack. I load it with up to 5 sticks of firewood inside. This 4runner is a beast. Greeting from Patagonia Chile.
Looks like an awesome time! Nice job! I got a 5th gen, but 3rd gen are my favorites. That maroon was on sooo many Toyotas in 90s and early 2000s. Easy to notice, because so many were/are on the road for so long!
Been to Moab, without a 4x4. I have now a 199 Toyota 4Runner 5speed manual. Never have done any 4wheeling, the time has come to this with mine. I love it!
Holy smokes I use to own that 3rd Gen 4Runner. Took it off road all the time never did rocks, hell I lived about 3 hours out of Moab. Dang never went to Moab when I owned it. Hey thanks for putting this up it was great to see what the 3rd Gen can do, Wow I've never personally given the 3rd Gen much attention as a rock crawler now I must adjust my attitude.
breeze787 hmm..did you buy it brand new? I’m the third owner and my cousin was the second owner. But yeah she’s a great rig and is an absolute beast on the rocks. Has yet to fail me.
@@chasechapman4689 Yeah I bought it brand new he smelled like strawberries and was pretty smooth riding even off road. Now I've got an FJ Cruiser and he don't smell like strawberries but I get a lot of looks and the FJ is so much fun to drive but man I can't believe how those 3rd gens made it through all that gnarly stuff at Moab. Put on some more vids man those 3rd Gens were impressive.
@@chasechapman4689 Yeah I remember going over 100K a milestone but when we cracked 200k he felt like he was breaking in. He ran smoother and got 1 mile per gallon more so from 17mpg we were averaging 18+mpg. Awesome vehicle and I love watching your videos wow!
breeze787 my cousin bought this at just under 100k miles. I’ve changed a lot to it from it’s original form. But yeah it’s a great rig. Unfortunately she no longer gets 18 mpg haha. More like 15.
Great material! Great car, but also a great driver... May I ask what has been customized in this 4runner? I want to buy me a 3rd gen as well but haven't decided yet on which model, I've heard some people referring to the 2000/2001 diesel as one of the best options... Any help is welcomed!
A year i go i had a pretty bad car accident on a 98, since then I’ve been terrified of driving, today i have a 2002 and i feel so bad because they look so fun to drive them off road
It's always hilarious watching these plain-ass Japanese suvs keeping up with if not outperforming jeeps that have more money in aftermarket parts than the actual vehicle.
I love the jeep guys " it's a Jeep thing you wouldn't understand" Oh but I do that's why I drive a 3rd gen 4Runner. If either of mine won't get there you probably have no business going lol.
RealOT TripleOG personally I wouldn’t invest in something as expensive as an air locker for a 2WD model. Better off selling and purchasing a 4WD. Hell you could just by a 4WD with the stock e-locker and be better off that way imo.
I guess that depends on your skill level with a stick shift. There are places on here where you would have to be very good at manipulating the pedals for the right moment and all. But certainly possible.
I'm not trying to lift my ride anymore than I need but I do plan on off-roading like this. If you did it again would you change anything? How much total lift?
Brad total lift is about 1.25”. So it’s small. Tires are 31.6”. I’d say this height and tires is as small as you can get by for Hells Revenge and Poison Spider. If I did it again I wouldn’t change a thing. All the major components for off roading are maintained or recently replaced and the rig had absolutely no problems completing the terrain. I’ve invested about $7k total on the rig over 3.5 years so very cheap.
Ruiz Paul yes it has a rear lunchbox locker. Lift is just pieced together. Just leveled out in front with Bilstein 5100’s and in the rear a 1” lift with 5th gen 4Runner coil springs. My UBJ on passenger side is almost toast so I’m finally doing a full 2” lift all around next week.
Impressive stuff on a back locker. While checking out your runs I've been thinking... of procrastination with my 92runner mod for boosted front e-locker pull over, and transfer weight to the front , although I've never seen Aussie rock is sticky black...
@@chasechapman4689 31x10.5x16 or 33 would be even better for walking Rocks . And for better Rock grip drop your air to about 10 LBS. Most only go to 20 lbs. Much better walkability at between 9-12. I like 10
Monty Holland 33 would be better. But I didn’t need 33. I like the challenge of doing difficult trails with 31.5’s. I was also aired down to 18 here. I can’t risk going any lower because I cannot forego any more ground clearance as I need it for the trail. I had no problem finishing the trail at all.
@@chasechapman4689 thank you. Rear locker right? I have the opportunity to buy either t4r with rear or another t4r with a center diff lock. Trying to decide…
GsXtC21 mods are 265/75R16 BFG KO2’s (31.6”), Bilstein 5100’s all around, 5th gen 4Runner rear coil springs (1.25” of lift), rear Spartan locker, Tundra brake upgrade. Everything I need and nothing I don’t is my motto. Has 292k miles.
@@chasechapman4689 cool. I am from brazil and i have one 4runner 2001 diesel, i want do 2 pol suspension lift. Did you have some tips for me? Im thinking use one stronger coil spring on rear and spring spacers in all 4 springs
Bruno Lorandi just depends on what you want to do with it and what your budget is. This link is a great resource for deciding what lift to put on your third gen. www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/66976-3rd-gen-4runner-lift-information-faqs.html
