Just in case someone else run into the same problem I did: these no longer ship with locking washers, but have locktite (or an equivalent) instead. Dont think you are missing parts, you aren't.
I just got mine. According to the online instruction only the locking washers left out are those for the cross bars and to be used with loctite. For some reason, locking washers for rail-to-roof and for wind deflectors are also left out. Now I have to wait for their response to see what is supposed to be there.
@@l.nguyen860 Did Prinzu ever answer you? I'm guessing although the instructions are not clear, the deletion of lack washers applies to the entire assembly.
Seems kinda cheesy to have the one silver bar even though it’s difficult to see once installed. It’s only an extra $2 to upgrade to black for a 4 foot section of 80/20 extruded aluminum. For a $700 rack, I feel like that should be included.
10:33 caught you looking at the end bar that’s standing on the shark fin. The last bar is horizontal - then in the next shot it’s upright. For 3rd gen the last bar needs to be upright to fit passes the shark fin right??
A metal drill bit would help drilling that, spade bits are not as accurate and harder to keep straight. to keep it straight use the shortest but possible!
Hi, Can you also add a revised list of what hardware user is supposed to have? I got no locking washers at all (for rail-roof and wind defector). Thanks.
Do you have a video of installing a light bar with the Prinsu light mount? I cannot figure out how it’s supposed to work. I don’t feel like it came with enough screws and doesn’t align the correct way. Thanks!
We don't currently have a video of light installs, but we get asked a lot about it. I'll see about putting something together for that. In the meantime shoot us a message on Facebook or Instagram and I can better answer your question via pictures.
My cuts on the weather stripping did not look that good. Anyway, I installed this bad boy today and looks DOOOOOOOOOOPE as F. Just waiting on the light bar.
Wait a second. I recognize that license plate. Are you guys based in Idaho?? And if so can I just pick up my rack that I ordered tonight instead of paying the $50 bucks for shipping? 🤣
Oh nevermind, just looked it up and see you guys are in IF. I'm in Boise so I'll take the shipping instead. Alway nice to Buy Idaho though. Now I feel even better about my purchase 😉
Hi there, our engineer uses the silicone in the link below. www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b/versachem-5169/chemicals---fluids-16461/glues--adhesives---sealants-19861/gasket-makers---sealers-19581/166cc2694828/versachem-clear-super-silicone/73009/4776665?q=silicone&pos=3
I have a Tacoma Crew cab with a Four Wheel Fleet Camper mounted on it. I would like to get that rack just for the purpose of mounting a Longer Wind Deflector for pushing the wind over the camper. Do you offer anything longer than the non-cut out wind deflector? If not, can you make one?
John Allen, the wind deflectors we manufacture for this rack are all the same length and unfortunately we are not able to create custom products at this time. If you are interested in the rack and need more information please feel free to call our sales team. 👍208-360-9542 or 866-522-0697
I added silicon just like in the video, but kind of moved the spacers around quite a bit when trying to fit the bolts through. Would it be ok to put a little silicon between the spacer and the weather stripping on the top side of the rubber? I guess I want to know how critical is it to make sure there's a seal around the bolt? Thanks again for the video!
I know this is 2 years old, but for anyone installing now, IT IS important to put a bunch of silicone. I had rain go down my A pillar and short the starter as I guess I didn't have enough. Big bill from shop to find the short.
Hey Tom! Although not recommended, you are more than welcome to leave the weather stripping off. This stripping reduces wind from entering underneath the wind deflector. The noise level will decrease as well.
10:52... though the cheap out silver bar was "complete covered"... guess not. Pretty weak promo... didn't mention the shark fin antenna crossbar adjustability... which the rack was sitting on when you first set it on the truck... and you installed the crossbars directly over the moon/sun roof. Us consumers are smarter than you think... and we do our homework.
We would love to help answer your questions. The crossbars are all fully adjustable. They work around the shark fin antenna as well if that is what you were referring to. As for the sunroof you can install the crossbars however you want depending on the type of view you want. The wind deflector options are setup so you can use a light bar with a cutout or not. Let us know if we can help with anything else!
That's the wind deflector with the cut out for a light bar. Once that is installed, you won't see that. Lol... Guess some consumers are smarter than others....
Are you all going to develop your special edition roof rack designed for the Trd pro factory snorkel to be more functional as Toyota intended? It’s awesome you cut out a tiny piece to fit the snorkel head, but it seems like it was halfway thought out if you can’t even rotate the head of the air intake 180 degrees when driving in heavy snow/ ice like Toyota recommends. I may never have to rotate it but it’s one thing keeping me from purchasing this rack. What if I have to in the middle of a trip and literally can’t? Haha
The best way to deal with this is with a snorkel cover/sock. The rack could not be changed enough to accommodate the rotation of the snorkel head. That being said we have never had any issues with our TRD pro and snorkel in heavy rain and snow so I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Hi there, did you purchase your roof rack recently? Older products may not have received the new crossbars. If your purchase was recent and you would like to discuss swapping the crossbars please give our customer service team a call when you can. (866) 522-0697 or (208) 360-9542
@@octaviolozano6890 Can you please reach out to our customer service team at info@cbioffroadfab.com or you can contact us by phone at (866) 522-0697 and anyone of our team members will help get you taken care of.
too cheap to powder coat the bracket, and do you think , since there isn't any paint, they could mark where the nuts go so when you put the air deflector on they're all in the right location. Petty I know, but for the price? I cant take it anymore, for an ugly ass roof rack that costs way too much, you'd think they would send an install cd or something a little more professional, considering the money there making on some aluminum extrusions and erector set scraps, $200 extra for the black texture paint. send me two please.
I'm not entirely sure of what you are referring to but I'll try and answer your questions. I'm assuming you are referring to the silver crossbar that is used for the wind deflector. That particular crossbar is anodized just like the rest of them but it is a clear anodizing rather than black. We wouldn't want to harm the coating in any way to mark where the nuts go as that would weaken the finish. The wind deflector crossbar is different than the others so that is the reason that is is clear and not black. As for installation we have a great PDF install guide as well as a video install guide that work well for most people. We also have a great customer service team that is always willing to help with any install questions plus our tech is more than happy to hop on a phone call to get people taken care of. As always if you have any particular questions or concerns please reach out and we will get you taken care of!
