Thanks for this! I love your videos I have heard great things about teaching textbooks. I don't use it but am looking at it starting on middle school, the math I love ends at level 6.

We have used it before. I think it can be great for some kids but not for others. Def worth a try though!

Great choices! For my upcoming 3rd grader we are using the following: Sonlight B Bible, history, read alouds and 3rd grade literature Sonlight Science K with her younger sister. It’s for 5-7 year olds and they will be 6 and 8. From Christian Light Education: Language Arts 3 (that includes grammar, handwriting, spelling & writing). Reading 3 Math 3

Great choices! We’re sticking with TGTB for ELA and math, but I’m going to add in a novel study each semester. For science we are doing Bearean Builders Science in the Beginning. Social Studies will be part 2 of Our Star Spangled Story from Notgrass and Patriot of the Week from Little Patriots Learning. Bible is a mix of Not Consumed and More Than Words. I make my own handwriting for cursive so he’ll continue with that and then loop in some scripture copy work from Arrows and Applesauce. We also do Treehouse Nature Study. I’m Actually working on my yearly scope and sequence while I watched your video!

Do you feel TGTB teaches reading well? Due to a lot of difficult circumstances going on in our family right now AAR is just too much for me to keep up with right now. Looking for something simple but effective for my upcoming first grader for learning to read from the beginning and for math. Is TGTB simple and effective? I have a soon kindergartner also. What are you using for your upcoming kindergartener?

I will be doing a kindergarten video soon. I honestly think TGTB works for reading for some kids. I feel like if your child struggles with reading at all then AAR is the way to go but if they seem to catch on quickly I think TGTB works. It really just depends on your child though.

We've found TGTB to be very sound for reading. They had a kindergarten prep course that was a great resource before starting kindergarten. Their curriculum was very similar to what my son did in Pre-K. It's very phonics based which is great.
