Viola players Hessel Moeselaar, Floris Faber and Geerten Feller have been playing together in 3 Violas since 2015. All three studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Marjolein Dispa They are open to many styles and mix that in a special way. Where they used to be inspired by other artists, they are increasingly creating their own sound by composing the music completely themselves. In addition to their own arrangements and compositions, improvisations are a permanent part of the repertoire “Clockwork” is an accumulation of rhythmic motifs that fit together like mechanics. Time is always ticking in the same way, while all kinds of things are happening in the meantime. For the pieces “April” and “May”, 3VIOLAS collaborated with the project “Talking Trees" by Bert Barten, in which he converts electronic impulses from a tree into music by means of a synthesizer. 3VIOLAS have made an arrangement of a beech tree in the months of April and May.
