Good advice Tony, I’m a knuckle buster, d ring strap and the old ratchet binder on our similar tractor. This is a great reminder of securing your load and not loosing in oncoming traffic. Great video and you’re a good personality too. 🇺🇸👏🏻👍🏻

Great video Tony. I’ve heard some horror stories using nylon straps. That’s why I only use chain and binders.

I appreciate this video. Always more to learn with loading and strapping equipment to a trailer. Do it right and don’t use worn out or cheap tie downs because you may pay heavily for your mistakes.

I really like them new style rachet binders. I have the old style rachet binders and the 2" straps. I've used them knuckle busters and after almost breaking my wrist more then once I quit using them. Stay safe my friend

I have 4 of the Perless ones too and 4 chains and smaller ones to Tie down the Loader, and /or back hoe Which is required in most situations. When not stored in the Trailer Box I use and old hand truck with a Milk create strapped to the bottom and I can hang the binders and the hooks on the Cross bars with the excess Chain in the Create . Might invest in the Newer style that You tighten down with an Impact Thanks Guys.

Thanks! Wasn't aware of the axle straps. Probably should mention to never put the hook through the loop of the chain.

Liked your video, a lot of good info. I too switch to the Peerless for all the reasons you covered. I would add another feature of the Peerless Binders is that the handle can be locked with a padlock; to prevent someone tampering with your load or wanting to take them.

I have been using straps to haul cars since I was a teenager.. I would go over the rear end and front crossmember in 4 points.. If I am going long distance, I check all the straps at every fuel stop or if something looks out of place.. Another good video from the knowledge of Tony 😁👍

Best thing to learn from this video is...........When you don't own a proper trailer (boat, camper, horse, motorcycle, lawn mower) it's best to have friends or family that will let you borrow one. Trailer D ring rating is also important to DOT.

I'm sure you've seen them, but a company called mudd customs makes nice little tractor D-ring attachments for the front. Otherwise I'm with you tony, I use the axle straps!

Thanks for giving your Old Best Friend a lift! Lots of great info in the last few videos!👍 Was the hook on front axle right beside where you put your strap around not recommended for securing a chain to it? I have 4 short chains made up for just the tractor so I am not dealing with all the excess chain. I keep a couple longer ones in the box for attachments or material but the short chains sure speed the process up! Have a great week!

hi there good show , may want to chain Chris down , couple things i went to the G80 chains because they were stronger but lighter according to the manufacture 20 years ago . don't know how they did that , i now have had 3 failures in china steel or metal products , will not use it anymore , appears to me to be brittle . keep that in mind . have you seen the new binders you use your impact driver on ,you two take care . john

We use chain binders to hold down the stacks of crab pots on deck they save our lives.

Lube the screw type binders, they will rust up.

Great content Toney. I like your thoughts process about the passenger side working, but I'm not sure if you noticed all types of load binders on semi's trucks are on the driver's side due to D.o.t. regulations. This is so the driver can view the load management of his load if they become loose during travel. (In most cases) your trailer is covered by the the towing vehicle's insurance but not the content on the trailer such as (tractor). And if your trailer becomes disconnected from the towing vehicle while in transit, you have no insurance and can be held liable 😭. Some states Dot. regulations require business owners to carry liability insurance on trailers weighting 10k or more. If you were to call your local scale house and ask for a courtesy inspection most weigh scales would do this without citing you a volition. That would make part two of trailering video for you and some awesome content for your subscribers 👍👍

I have taken my 20’ chains and cut them in half. Why have 1/2 of your chain potentially dragging or laying on the deck. I’ve also made 2’ and 1’ chains for when it’s really close to the tie downs. If you hook two chains like you did, make sure the working load limit on the shackle is double what your chains are. I also replaced all my cinch hooks with slip hooks to let me hook them directly to the d-rings.

On the ag models the tie down points definitely need improvement. On the industrial / construction models the tie down points are way better.

I use chain binders with a cheater pipe . To me it's easier than the other type . But that just me !

Only tool missing is the speed binder

Dot says any chain attached to the item gets 50% weight rating. Any chain that goes over/through (trailer to trailer) is full value. Assuming you're chain is 6500# the 2 chains only give you 6500# not 13000. If the tractor is over 10000# the hydraulics need to be strapped down too.

Always tie down, cross your chains, in a x pattern. Make sure your load is forward of the trailer axle, check tongue weight.
