On the side from everybody talking about Lia (well deserved applaus), the NHRA driver was the nicest bloke that ever came to this show. Such a nice and humble guy!
Fun to rewatch this one. R.I.P. reminiscing moments. I almost forgot how much of a beast Lia is. Definitely Kens daughter. 14 and she's over here treeing an nhra pro. Oldie but goodie! The Hoonigan legacy will live on through Lia
For the better part of a year and change I was doing Chemotherapy every other Monday for all of 2020 and part of this year. These vids on Mondays were the only things I would look forward too during my treatments. I felt so weak, numb and disconnected but "This and that" and Hoonicorn vs" plus the comments I feel helped me stay in a positive mind set and helped me heal. No cap. All facts. Thank yall.
That young lady is lucky as HELL to have a father that obviously loves and cares for her as much Ken does. He has a great kid and I wish both of them the best in their futures. Great episode guys!
@@sherylellingson3538 well I mean they did take safety first and teach her how to fully be capable of driving it safely but also very fucking fast, i still agree thought
@@VegaVermilion i mean he’s probably been teaching her stuff from the get go, but actually putting in the work to become that type of driver handling THAT type of car in a couple of months, that’s something else. wow
From teaching Lia donuts to this.. really incredible. It's amazing to watch Lia's progression in race cars ,.. but the way she handled the 1400 herspers "pony" ,..just wow. Also, i think that was the most down to earth and humble competitor I've ever seen on the show. I had a smile from start to finish. Bravo guys and thank you for sharing this with us! God Bless!
@@bingchilling233 don't exactly remember where I saw it. Maybe on their Instagram. But there was a short video with clips that were a fraction of a second each with the cars that went up against the Hoonicorn
Alex is fun, knowledgeable, a great sport, and “that’s a real competitor” everything a professional driver should be. Lea is a complete savage behind the wheel, while still being in control, also a great sport, fun and seemingly humble. Also trade marks of a professional. Keep it up Lea, that was awesome to see!!!!
So cool to see this all come together, thanks for having us out! It was an honor and we had a blast! Did I mention how GOOD the driver mod really is, yall wait till you see all 4 smoking and that things going sideways and she stays in it! Thank you for the opportunity!
Just watched the BTS video on your channel of the race, you had a lot going against you in this race and you still came out and competed. It was very entertaining to watch!!!
I remember watching Ken teaching Lia to do donuts in a RWD car not even two years ago. Now she's doing it like a pro, and in an AWD car. With 1400hp. Damn.
wait how was that over a year ago? i watched that video not too long ago and i swear they said she was 14 in that video, and in this video they say she's 14 too, so how could the two videos be over a year apart?
Lia is an absolute savage. Her reactions off the line and the ability to keep the hoonicorn straight is extremely impressive. Alex is chill as hell, would love to see him back on the channel.
That was sick. I was thinking it would be another Hoonicorn blow-out, but the driver of the NHRA car is a savage for even attempting to get a 4k HP car down that road.
@@rileystevens5735 Can you explain to me what you mean by that, Riley? It makes no sense to me. If my memory serves me correctly, Hoonigan owns the car, and Ken Block owns Hoonigan, therefor her owns the car. I’m confused as to why he wouldn’t be able to drive it.
Seeing lia’s raging on the hoonicorn is such a wholesome moment. Starting back to watching her drifting the escort to now drag racing a 1400 hp awd monster. Only now does the livery makes sense with the 00 number, the absent of the monster energy sponsor. Props to hoonigan and the vette driver is such a all round humble and very professional sportsmanship driver
i mean its probably not sponsored by ford anymore also so hoonigan is there sponsor for it. that is why they can invite all cars and have a real race, cause when it was ford they couldnt lose, the match up sucked.
@@reggiexp69 yea ken is not sponsored by ford anymore, maybe thats also the reason he can let others drove the hoonicorn now since its his car now i think
@@aalonbullard9320 exactly and if you go over her ig acc you can see her do all sorts of other motorsport disciplines such as rallycross, gokarts and all. I see a bright future for her if she continues with this kind of discipline.
You know what would be insane, bring in 18 yr old Milan and his 6 second 3200 hp TT Viper to take on Lia. Two young drivers going head to head would be epic.
I guess u haven’t watched all the spoiled kid in indonesia probably less than 12years old from motorbikes to cars from drag to track circuits and compare to this. This is nothing

As a guy feed with a silver spoon and lived with those kind of people, holy fuck you want to punch alot of the parents (IE kids, but you get my drift.)
@@bombastic00 I can absolutely believe that. But this isn’t a show about cycling in Amsterdam. This is a show about an iconic American car drag racing other awesome cars. Got it?
@@danajane6674 absolutely, but op was referring to the fact that she doesn’t need driving lessons. But driving a car in crowded cities need more atrention than only knowing how to drive ;-)
Definitely one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Just here enjoying some of Ken's awesome moments in his memory. We definitely still have a piece of him in Lia. What a savage driver. I hope she will continue to pilot the Hoonicorn in the tradition of her father.
All this is true, but I prefer cars which are fun and usable in the varied situations of the real world, rather than one trick ponies which need a specially prepared 1/4 mile stretch to do "their thing". That the Hoonicorn could get anywhere close to a dedicated drag car in a straight line makes it worthy of respect considering it could also be used on a rally course or winding road where the drag car would have no chance.
@@josuelozoya1599 True, and I'm sure the drag car is even more impressive on the strip, but the fact that it needs that specially prepared surface to reliably win makes it less of a car for me. If you're on a drag strip you're going to extremes and there will be something even more extreme and even less practical that could beat you. On real roads/real world situations the Hoonicorn is an incredible all rounder that very few can match.
@@rosstee how can you say that as if the hooni doesn’t need special requirements lol again how come the they don’t take the dragster head up on the strip? Oh yeah because the hooni wouldn’t be able to perform as it requires a need for asphalt to perform at its best lol I love the hooni but these guys did all the math for that car just to get it right and outrun damn near anything so when they come up with these races they already know who’s going to win thanks to math and science lol I would love to see the hooni step out of its environment to race and if I’m not mistaken the hooni is a 1 trick ponie as well we love to make excuses for the hooni I wanna see how it performs on a drag strip this is like telling a football player to try and outrun an ice skater with cleats on lmao
Alex Laughlin is a class act. It sounds silly, but a car like that on no prep always has a disadvantage to an AWD car. When you watch the 1320 video no prep races you see that as long as the AWD cars can keep from scattering their drivetrain they dominate. Beyond 900 or so HP it's a traction game.
@@randr10 not always the case. multiple factors come into play. power, tire width and compound, driveline setup, tuning and forced induction. watch street outlaws when you have a chance. i know this no prep stuff very easily.
@@randr10 it wont matter if someone runs all wheel drive when the next guy runs a 20 inch width drag slick. i have seen countless AWD cars get trashed by literally grudge match spec race cars. in fact i bet big chief could do this
Under normal circumstances the Hoonicorn would of got dragged but on some random stretch of road in the middle of the desert, with no prep and on a conservative tune/launch we all know there’s going to be disadvantages for a car that’s an NHRA dragster, because they’re fine tuned for certain conditions
The "luckiest girl in the world" will be feeling a bit less lucky now. Thanks Ken for the entertainment and I pray that Lia and the rest of the Block family get through this tragic time.
No way Jose, that Lia would be feeling less lucky now, to be born with a true super hero for a Dad we all are lucky to have Ken block to inspire us. There is not a way to express the admiration that I feel for this man.that I know everyone knows this frase " I want Viper", in my dreams with all respect " I want Ken". Make no mistake my friend Lia is a and always be the luckiest girl in the world
Haha yes great to see. Its even worse, proud for him see that kid literally smoke an nhra driver, beat him on reaction time and his own game. Not to mention she doesn’t lift for a second spinning the wheels more than half the track.
I’ve also got two daughters (8 and 15) and was thinking exactly the same. I mean, I’m super proud of Lia and I don’t even know her! She was incredible!
Vette driver earned a fan today. I'm gonna look out for this guy. What a super chill, cool and humble guy. You know that vette would crush the Hoonicorn on a prepped strip, but he went safety first and lost to a 14 year old girl with grace and class. Helluva guy. And a helluva day for Lia and Ken.
if gonna go with a fully prepped strip for the vette, would also need to give the hooni any similar pre run optimization. edit- and yeah, came back to this for a rewatch after the driving test, vette guy is cool, and the evolution of Lia has been something that is just so wholesome to see under Ken and Lucy's parenting.
Reminiscing of these memories we were able to witness on camera between lia and Ken, an absolute legendary icon. RIP Ken, rest well and I can’t wait to see how Lia will continue his legacy after this tough time
12:12 this is legitimately the most smooth and enjoyable way to do in video to do promoting for companies. Not as in your face as stopping the entire video for a silly commercial that seems scripted, just a footnote like “yeah these are the fluids we use, we trust them,” and just like that I’m hooked.
Ken & Co. are a big enough name that they can probably negotiate a low-keyed plug-in-passing, rather than having to deliver a couple pounds of blather.
I love how they give her the respect of space when shes doing her donuts and not chasing for a shot lol wishing her the best in life in whatever she chooses to do.
@@johnxina9853 Where I live you can't legally learn until you're 18, but I knew how to drive since I could reach the pedals which is like 9 or 10 years old. Tell your father to teach you. If you want something, work for it. Don't find excuses. That's not how you get far in life.
@@diestaatssicherheit9063 yes, they are nowhere near stock, so they are definitely “track” cars in the sense that they are used on professional corses by professional drivers
Props to the Vette guy for turning down his car and making it a good race on a horrible surface. More often than not every single guy that comes on here with a million horsepower RWD car ends up just blowing the tires off.
@@zachmoritz9856 on a prepped surface the stang would look slow. It’s crazy how fast it is. But a 4000 hp drag build is gonna smoke it on a track. They should do this with a pro stock car on a prepped surface.

This video legit made me tear up a little bit. I can't imagine how Lia must be feeling right now. RIP Mr. Block... Your legacy will live on in our hearts and gas pedals.
Gotta respect the humble character of the vette racer (I forget his name). He didn’t even throttle out, literally giving Lia the win. We all (should) know that the Hoonicorn doesn’t really stand a chance against that monster. Great confidence boost for the kid.
He did exactly what he predicted before the third race. He didn´t present the win to her. He reacted to the track for his and his cars safety. Everybody knows that the Hoonicorn doesn´t stand a chance on a prepped track. On this track though, it is indeed a win. Btw, i don´t think she needs a confidence boost in any ways. Not sure about the dude whos going to ask her for a date though....
Nah he's got a 4k hp monster on an unprepped, nasty surface. If they were on the strip on a prepped track, Lia probably wouldn't have stood a chance and everyone there knows that.
That's automatic disqualification in real street racing. Now some dumb people play this "chase is a race", these are the same people that redlight all the time at the track.
@@robertelmo7736 I agree with you 100% but I think we can all give her a slide on being excited in the FIRST HEAT especially considering she can't legally drive on the Hwy 🤣. She was on point after the jump
I thought she took off before it was time lol. Corvette just needed to warm up to when he could jump. Clearly the 2nd, they left at same time and he won. Then the 3rd she pulled another fast one. Lol. But good race.
A little tear in my eye... I'm seeing this video for the first time - just days after learning about my favorite driver's passing. Lia is AMAZING. I can't wait to see what she does. And I think part of my emotional response to this video is the fact that my own daughter's name is Lia (now 18 years old)... same spelling... a leukemia survivor (diagnosed at 11). Now I'm a Lia Block fan, too. My condolences to the Block family.
That NHRA driver is an incredibly good sport not to mention a great ambassador to the sport. Ken's daughter... Scary...I can't wait to see more of her driving!
that was a great race. Alex is an awesome sport considering he had a lot going against him on this but it was fun to watch. The last time I saw any footage of Lia was when she was trying to learn how to do figure 8's/learn how to drift with that fox body...look at her now! nothing but pure confidence in her abilities.
Bruh does anyone remember Ken’s “Teaching My Daughter How to Do Donuts” video like a year ago with her struggling a bit at first driving a Vanilla Ice 5.0, to her consistently launching, shifting, sliding, and just generally charging it in the Hoonicorn? 🤯 I was stoked about the Pegs and 3 piece crank on my Haro when I was 14 🤣🤙🏼
At only 14 and she has all the confidence in the world. Mad skills! Reaction times are top level. Keep humble and you will go far young lady. To the NHR driver, congratulations on being a champion and humble. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
@@smm7540 id firmly disagree. Being better doesn't give you right to be an ass. I know that's not what your implying but still. Being genuinely nice, regardless of skill, is always the best road to walk down.
Agreed, I was watching Ken tensing up thinking I would've been fine, not tense at all...after my heart started beating again. I can't imagine putting my little girl in a monster like that or hell my boys either.,
lol, just lucky strike on birth lottery. I appreciate people which parents had nothing in common with racing and they still are shining in motor sport.
The Hoonicorn is a beast, I can't imagine how much goes into driving it. And she is 14! This was one of the most impressing things I've seen in a while.
RIP Ken. I gotta say though this is why I love AWD so so much. Not just in a straight line, the extra grip is insane. Back in the 90's I was a poor kid with a legit 10 sec naturally aspirated fox body mustang with, get this: a 410" stroker with steel crank and rods but carbed. It was a blast on a prepped track but dry roads felt like ice. I ran a top loader 4spd because I couldn't afford a tremec trans. I could smoke Eagle GTs at 65 in high gear on the highway just by punching it. Later on I had an 1800lb 66 911 with a carbed and hot rodded 911SC 3.0 liter, another totally tail happy car. Once I got a chance to drive a newer AWD 911 turbo it was all over for me with RWD. Mad props to the NHRA driver for giving it a go on that course and !ad props to Lia, fantastic driving! We all miss your dad, we can all see you are living up to your surname!!!
Not sure how it's possible to feel so proud of a kid thats not mine, but wow that was incredible. She absolutely is a legend in the making. Definitely the best episode so far. I look forward to watching her continue to learn and grow in her carrier as a driver.
I wanna see them both on the strip now. Let’s face it, 1400hp and 100lbs heavier isn’t beating 4000hp 100lbs lighter. He probably couldn’t go past half throttle and was spinning the whole way. Lia can drive though props to her
@@michaelgamble2848 Corn just got gapped by the 2000hp heavier GTR and you think the 4000hp lighter drag car would lose on the track lol i need whatever you are smoking

I think it should be aknowled here that the real MVP of Hoonigan is their video editor/editors. The level of editing perfection is unrivaled on this platform.... Much like the Hoonicorn. Mad respect. My main reason for binge watching this channel (other than the Hoonigan scumbagg beast mode content, of course).
I’m so happy to see the hoonicorn back, and even happier to see the reigns being passed down to his daughter!!! This is exactly what I had dreamed with my daughter before my accident caused me to lose my ride. Awesome job!!!!!
I love how much kens daughter has improved her driving since the last video I watched where ken was teaching her how to drift! Hope my daughter takes a interest into the sport someday. Any father would be stoked to see their daughter drive like that!!

Oh yes it would have indeed!! The Hoonicorn is an amazing car in many ways!!! However, on a real drag strip, the Vette would have beat it every time! They are very different cars, to say the least! The Hoonicorn is designed for drifting, and the Vette is designed for Drag Racing.
