Man, you are a hero! I reserved lab time for a quiz, and thought it was for a different lab and wasn't prepared at all, and this saved my ass. You're doing a great service, and also, great advice/tip about activating the router g0/0/1 after the sub-interfaces; great idea!
As always thanks for the great step by step guide! Was confused why I cannot ping from PC-A to PC-B. Turns out I have to configure VLAN 4 (even though no VLAN 4 is used at S1) so that the switch recognizes the VLAN tag and able forward the frame.
Good day Christian. Can you please explain the downsides of missing the "native" option while configuring the subinterface g0/0/1.8 on R1 @ 26:11 in your video? I've watched your video after I have done the PT and I configured all except this in my PT, but pings and reachability was still OK. So I'm trying to understand if by missing it, that would not affect somehow negatively the functionality. Thank you in advance!
If you miss the native keyword, the router will use the vlan 1 as native, in this case if you specify the native vlan on subinterface with encapsulation dot1q 8, router will use vlan 8 as the native
