Paimon has been getting more and more out of pocket but this quest was wild. Even MC had some "ummm" moments. They definitely didn't earn the help they got on this one. It's so crazy when you combine it with the fact that Furina's whole lofty persona, which is fake in the first place, wasn't even her preferred approach. She tried to be decent and her people thought she was whack. The MC knows this. I really couldn't with either of them in this quest. Furina being the star she is hard carried the whole crew
Well, once again, I think none of this is actually unwarranted. Remember well Nahida Story Quest Act 2: Paimon had a real hard time seeing beyond appearances, even when told several times about looking at the essence of things and people, so it's more than normal that she'll behave like she did with people who treated her like Furina did during the Archon Quest. On the other side, Traveler never got into her psyche by the fear of losing her; remember his last words before touching her tear drop: "I still need answers"; and also, his reactions to her negative to open herself to him and give him her secret was met with a rather resented "...fine.", which means that his whole reason behind watching Furina's past and context was truly selfish, and he didn't really weigh on her suffering until she exposed it to him during the Story Quest Even if Neuvillette told them what happened, both Traveler and Paimon still had strong emotional responses towards Furina, so we'll have to wait until we see what will happen in her second Story Quest (if we ever get one, because something tells me we'll probably have a Neuvillette part 2 more than hers). On the other side, Furina needs some good time to try and get rid of her fake-Focalors persona. So, all we need to do is wait...
@@erikboncoref.7020 I mean, you are wrong but pop off, I'll just remind you that that "...fine" is what furina imagines the traveler would say, the traveler was still sitting in the audience during it, also I feel you all are really downplaying all the good gestures the traveler shows to furina but then again you all probably lost braincells after the mention of boundaries, also sorry if this seems overly emotional, I'm writing this after seeing so many comments like yours and it's late at night
@@endernoob097 eh nope; when the Traveler is seeing the scene, they're at first hearing their own voice coming from behind a box, but when they get to that point, the seat becomes empty and the Traveler is on stage. On that point, they became part of the play, and then, when Furina tells them to finish watching the play, they vanish as the lights turn off and goes back to their seat.

I rewatched the scene and there is no way to tell if the traveler has actually moved from their seating no angle during that scene can you see the travelers seat, unless you are talking about mihoyo moving the model for the one scene in which case I would see it, but that doesnt mean that in universe the traveler moved onto the stage and then back to their seat, or in other words there is no way prove what you say
@@endernoob097 the fact that when you see the Traveler in the public not being able to see himself when he "enters the stage" and then when he appears on stage he's no longer in his seat. If they wanted him to be also "spectating himself" on the play, they would've put him on his seat as well as on the stage (after all, when he saw his own Akasha Terminal message, they showed him seeing himself); it was deliberate to make you see that, for the first time, he was actually interacting with her in her inner-self play. Later, when Focalors is making her last dance and Furina is doing so, he's back on the seat.
Her rudeness to other characters is honestly what I find most irritating about her now honestly, I really like most of the characters in the game and I don’t like Paimon in comparison, so her being rude and backhanded to characters that I like and want to get along with is very annoying. And Furina is such a sad victim to her, She's immature and judgmental of other characters, She's very unintelligent and has to have everything explained in childlike detail to her like the scene where Navia is shedding tears for Melus and Silver, like read the f-ing rood Paimon.
I don't get why people only point out paimon, the traveler themselves were being just as rude, the only difference is that they're not voicing their lines, but their dialog options were just as unacceptable, why were Turning a blind eye to the mc is beyond me, I'm not even surprised at paimons behavior, she has always been a insensitive asshole, that's nothing new, I'm more disappointed in the traveler, esp when they know the truth behind everything, I expected better of them, traveler and paimon were not great in this quest and I absolutely hate the fact they had furina actually agreeing with them as if she's the one at fault, being weird which was so frustrating, even when furina finally told them to get off her case, there was no reason furina had to apologize, this was def one of worst showings for the mc and paimon imo
People are bashing both and rightfully so. Especially me when it started from the AQ where the only reason why the traveler wanted to save furina from the death sentence is "I still need answers."
Lol all the writing really went into the archon quest, and then you have Furina’s quest with Paimon using bully tactics as comedy, and Dulphy literally fat shaming Lauwick, like what happened to the writing with compassion I saw especially during the time Collie and Sucrose had those conversations about being introverts…I thought they really hit the nail on topics that would positively affects people’s mentality…not denigrating it.
In Paimon defense she didn't witness what the traveler saw about Furina's suffering all these 500 years, she had no clue how sad Furina situation was Paimon usually sympathize with people a lot and feel sad for them but for Paimon furina is just furina nothing change in her perspective for her
Overall i agree that paimon is been mean here and there, but whats more concerning to me is that mc's attitude is also questionable since we dont have a lot of progress in terms of friendship with furina, and mc just acted like we are close. This is the weirdest part of this quest. Because mc really dont have any time to build up the relationship with furina, he/she is not supposed to act like a close friend of furina disreguarding any cultural difference between chinese and english, yes chinese and english speaking world have very different understanding when it comes to personal space and friendship, thats part of the reason i think paimon's horrible lines is fine cause it might just be a translation problem, but you are either friend with someone or you are not a friend with someone, that is undoubt in both culture, thats why i think the big issue is about mc here not paimon.
It's not cultural difference or anything of the sort, it's just the writers for some reason doing what they did here. Apparently, the Chinese version was even worse in terms of rudeness and Chinese were really pissed off about it
I saw someone put forth the idea that Paimon probably has no idea how to act around Furina, since Paimon never saw what the traveler saw in her inner world, and Paimon assumes that Furina is happiest when performing and over the top. On thebside of the Traveler, it's more a case of breaking Furina out of her shell and expand her horizons, knowing that Furina being cooped up in her home most of the time is definitely not going to be good for her; especially when she was created with so much curiosity and love for life and the world around her.
I think there is a timeline difference there between story quest ans archon quest, and its been a while since mc and furina met each other. If you do this story quest right after the archon quest, you'd be way too invested into furina's past and emotion, and overreact to mc's attitute towards furina. But i also DO agree that some paimon's voiceline is very questionable, and never were we really had any relationship development before, so i do agree mc's approach is a little bit too aggressive, and giving vibes like"assuming we are close but actually is never true in the first place"
Paimon is so rude in certain lines, i went back to the chinese verson of this quest since i understand chinese in native level, and the script is technicially originally wrote in chinese, found out a few of these very mean and rude lines is, at least in my understanding, translated"poorly", because in cn they really just having a casual chatting and dialogue overall are relax, its more like paimon roasting a friend than what en presented(which is paimon actively been mean and toxic considering the fact mc KNOWS what happens to furina in the past)
I think the English Translator is generally disliking Furina, At the end of her memory, when she refused to share her secret, other travellers: ...eh... or ...uhm... /EN Travellers:...Fine/ EN Lumina: ... FINEEE!!! But then... You can't possibly see any friendship between Furina and Traveller for them to act buddy-buddy toward her... They pretty much stabbed Furina in the back at her lowest moment, then twisted the stab to make sure she bleeds.

Because in the entire 4.2 quest traveler is standing aside with fontaine people, and asking furina THE selution to prophecy, the effort of tring to bait out her secret is just the means, not the ends, not to mention it is neuvillette's idea to put her into the trial forcefully, traveler is more neutral in this case. The first half of the archon quest had the entire possion area flooded, bunch of people died, navia lost her closest friends, as players we know something is going on about furina and she surely has a plan to save everyone, but as traveler they dont, they aint even sure if furina's secret is related to the prophecy, but something nees to be done when people literally dissolve and disappear, someone needs to be responsible to this whole mess, and that one is and has to be the current leader of the region, hydro archon furina, but what she did when such national catastrophe happens？ She did nothing, she went to the opera house to watch another show, she runs away when neuvillette is desperately asking foe her help, what would you think if you are one of the victim in the poission incident？
@@SanarySeggnete but one thing you mentioned is correct, traveler really doesnt have a lot of casual moments developing relationship with furina as friend, so the entire story quest feels rather awkward to the player(not the traveler since they literally wrote the line)
Paimon is fine .. she's in character. She's blunt and careless with words always. It's Traveller who's the insensitive dolt. Knowing full well the truth behind Furina, the Traveller still treats her as a fraud.
Paimon was being really rude in this quest. I've been noticing that she's been getting more and more bitchy. I wonder if this was intended by Hoyoverse? What could it mean?
