sooo soo happy I found your video! I am on the quest for going 100% twinkly this year and your vid has gotten me WAY more motivated now! I am anxiously awaiting all deliveries. I am jealous you have it all the way at the top of your house! Nice job and thanks for sharing!!
Twinkly app update 12/7/20. After updating the app a firmware update is needed on gen II devices. The first few I tried to update it failed and I lost connection with those devices. I did the following to get them back on. 1. Restarted my IPhone. 2. The devices that failed on the firmware update I unplugged the device, after plugging back in you get the option to update again. That worked on 4 of my devices that failed to update.
I was getting worried cause this year i added a 600 with my 250's, that puts me at 1600 now. But now i know, i'm good going up to 4600, and it's still grouping together, lol. Nice setup, maybe next year i will have 2 more sets and be over 2500 LEDs here.
I know it’s not an end to end. How do you hook them up? Do you have to plug each power adapter to an outdoor cord? If so will it work if it rains? Thank you
Hello, first great job and, WOW. Was going to buy some 600 to wrap on outside tree but I’m unable ro tigure out how to since they are made of 2 sets of strings connected in the middle wehere the controller and power is? Would you share how you resolved that, and, how did ypu daisychain them to wrap uor tall tree? Thanks
That looks unreal! Beautiful home you have as well! Are these the Pro version, or just regular Gen 2? How are your lights holding up over time, any durability issues? Thanks
They are mainly Gen 2 . So far the only issue I’ve had is one of the 225 light strands had an issue with the power supply. I emailed Twinkly and after a few questions from their support team they mailed me a new power supply free of charge. This year was the 4th year using these light. I typically put the up in October to use for Halloween and they stay up until after new years. I’ve been happy with them.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and answering all the questions. This is awesome. I wasnt planning to do any lights this year, but I'm highly motivated after seeing what you have done to keep alive the Christmas spirit during these difficult times. Would it be too much to ask for a tutorial?
Take a look at my other video. It’s not a tutorial but I answer a lot of questions. Here the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hRuy9abxkx4.html
How long are the wires from the end of the lights??? Do you buy leads that extend the wires to some sort of plug station where you plug them all in????
I have bought 5 x 600 twinkly, but the old metjodbwith ws2811 look more bright and more powerful than twinkly , I think its not worth the money for twinkly 1 set of twinkly 600 cost 250 usd, you can buy alot more ws2811 and with a esp32 controler you cand do same things like twinkly fo even more , eill be a bit more work with ws2811 but the final result its alot better:)
That is awesome - obviously you have these grouped into one. I am assuming you are using the 2d mapping? how far away did you have to stand to get them all in one map? and did it work the first time?
Yep 2d. I mapped from just about the same location as this video was shot from. It took a few try’s. The far right side above the garage kept getting left out.
@@jasonduvall1 what light sets do you buy for this set up?!! I’m wanting to do mine and yours look unreal is this all just regular strings or are they a combo of clusters?! Some are so thick what do you use to put them up!?
I also wonder what setup this is? Strings, clustee or what? How do I get so thick lights on the gutters? I also want to try this here in Sweden this year! Amazing how well you did this!
WOW!!! Dude, this is fantastic! I was looking at these lights and trying to figure out the difference between the standard lights and their "pro" version. The pro version seems to require some kind of controller thing. Do you know the difference?
Here’s my understanding, but check the twinkly website to make sure. The standard ones like I have (I have gen II RBG) each have their own controller build into each single set there’s no connecting these physically. The pros do not have the controller built into each set of lights. With them you get a master controller that you can hook up multiple pro string sets to. Both I think are great options. If you go with the standard ones it’s really easy to group them together from the app and map to get them to work together.
Ru Going to be keeping those up year-round? Also did you say that these are just RGB and no white? I’m pretty sure you said that in a prior video but I don’t understand because I still see white light?
My HOA won’t allow me to leave them up year round so I will have to take them down after Christmas. I started putting them up around the first week of October for Halloween and have slowly added more. Yes they are RBG and yes they have a white. It’s kind of a blueish white. My guess is that the RBGW have nicer whites
So I am guessing that you had to run an extension cord to each strand of lights and then run all the extension cords to a multiple strip outlet ? Just curious how many extension cords did you have to use?
@@SonofDarnell I have 4 extension cords for the twinkly lights but on the ends of the extension cords I have 3 way splitters/adapters that the twinkly lights attach to. I honestly have less extension cords with this set up than I use to have with my old school lights. Mainly because how long the 600 twinkly light strands are.
I want to do the cluster lights on the top of the roof line like you have. It says the 400 led kit for $170 is 236 feet long. Is that actually how many feet they will cover? Your look awesome by the way.
Make sure your not dropping off your WiFi/network. I was having issues early on because of how far back I had to stand to map them all. I was losing my network connection. I moved my router to the front of my house so I wouldn’t lose connection.
how many lights on your tree? I have a 600 light set and two 100 light sets on mine. had to map the 3 sets as a group. Since I did that i cant get them to work in sync with the lights on the house. It wont let me create a large group with smaller groups
I have 5 of the strands coming from one power outlet on a splitter. 1 or two from others. FYI incase your not familiar with twinkly lights they do not connect end to end. Each strand is stand alone.
I had a one or two issues over the 3 months I had my holiday lights up. One of them I think the issue was the distance from my router. The other one was I think I had to many wireless items connect to the router. After removing some items it seemed to clear the issue. Are you using the the timer in the app to control the on and off times?
Yea, I'm using the timer to turn them on automatically when I'm not home but sometimes the colors are off. I think my router might be the problem like yours. I have the Tmobile home router.
@@dustinfigueroa1205 I had to use a wifi extender with it's own wifi ssid so it's solely used for my twinkly. Even then, if I add new lights I noticed reseting the router has fixed many issues.
