a shared variable should provide latest valuE of variable to all process (if Declared Volatile) then how process w is retaining its local copy of var.

Doubt!! after executing read of Process(w),Does read(x) store value of x in local memory of Process(W)? is only line x=x+1 and x=x-2 is a critical section?

sir please explain this question. Suppose there is a rope that crosses a river (or canyon, if you prefer). There are monkeys on both sides of the river that want to cross the river using the rope. Lets call the two sides Left and Right. The following constraints must be satisfied: 1.At any time, only one side is allowed to cross. That is, either the monkeys from the left side should be crossing, or the monkeys from the right side should be crossing. Presumably, if both sides were allowed to cross at the same time, they would get stuck when they meet. Worse still they would fight, and perhaps kill each other. 2.The rope can take the weight of at most 10 monkeys at a time.

Sir how do we know kab kis process ko context switch karna hain aur konsi order main process lo use Karna hai? Alag alag order main liyetho Kya x ka value change hoga?

Questions is asked for maximum possible value, we have to apply all the possible combinations to get the maximum value. Here logically the Y,Z were decreasing the value so initially so X Y was taken to get the maximum value.

Hi sir, you explained the concept very well. But as the definition of the critical section, we can't preempt a process while in the critical section. If I am right then how the process is being preempted from the critical section. Please clear the cloud.

we can preempt a process from anywhere whether it is in critical section or not.

we can context switch in the critical section by another process but it will be of no use because another process will be trapped in while loop.

Sir just wanted to know can context switch occur after wait and before reading the value of x? if yes then what will happen? because if that happens then we can't ignore process y and z as it will read the value of x again.

Sir, ur explanation was good. But,the given solution is violating the first and mandatory condition which is mutual exclusion. How can you say that given solution is correct to solve critical section problem?

sir can u also make vedio on .. a problem is given in which no. of shared variables are given nd say two processes are given nd order is given that first shared variable is completed before second process completes shared variable 1 , ... then how many semaphores are required ? ... as in GATE2005 One question was there?

because in the question it is said that each process is executed once, and as we need to find max value we take them in any order but once.

the question asserts that each process executes only once until all processes have executed . And that's how it is simplified!

akash singh here where in the qutn written about execute each procress once ??... becoz here no bounded wait so each process can execute every point of time after came back from critical section.
