I can remember like it was yesterday. This guy took my playing from average to intermediate almost instantly. His boxes really unlocked the guitar for me. It was like an explosion of licks just came out of those boxes for me. That was 8 years ago. I learned all this from his free stuff on RU-vid. Can only imagine what his course would have done.
either you got it or you don,t this stuff only makes you move faster because you already knew it''just didnt have the time to go thru it, and pick it up' this shit has to be in your mind already''if you ain,t got it,, you ain,t got it,, try learning Donny Osmond,,LOL'
Dude I've always wanted to learn how to play Stevie Ray stuff Albert King licks I'm from Clarksdale Mississippi and I know did Albert King and Eddie King and b.b. King I've seen all of them but I'm going to tell you something you do a good job on teaching I'd like to buy that lesson that DVD so I'm thinking about getting it I learn just by watching this free lesson on that first lick I never knew how to do it but I learn how to do it and it might matter of 10 minutes
When I was a beginner and I watched a guitar lesson, I always said to myself 'why not film that guitar from a first person view?'. And look at you, the first guitar teacher I see to actually do it.
Dude, I got to tell you. I Have been playing for 40 years and I know all those Albert King licks. But I must say, your way of presenting it on video is stupendous.Best teaching method ever. Plus, you really know how to play the shit and come correct with it.
To all you people complaining about the tuning, if you can't handle him being a half step down, then you are not ready for this stuff anyway. It's really not a big deal. Are you just going to play these licks in the key you learn them? No (I hope not) learn to move the licks around.
13 years later still helping out players!! Such a wholesome time in RU-vid. I love how open you are at the start saying how this an Ad for your Full Lessons :)
Although Albert King was one of his greatest influences Stevie had many influences including Hendrix, T-Bone Walker, Freddy King, and Wes Montgomery just to name a few
@@rogercelletti1170 also Albert Collins, Jimmy Reed, Slim Harpo, Lightnin Hopkins, Otis Rush, Lonnie Mack, Ray Sharpe, etc etc. SRV is like a encyclopedia, you can find a lot of blues and rock and roll masters in his music
Did I miss the heads up that the tuning was non standard, that would help? Video looks great but all other videos are in standard and it's a hassle to detune. Great lesson though. Are all lessons detuned or is this just an Albert King thing? P.S> Thanks for the great lesson and great visuals.
I came to appreciate Albert King more and more, obviously i first ran into Stevie ray Vaughan. Hearing Kings riffs, one easily finds out where Stevie had his licks from. Thanks a lot for the lessons ! tho i myself play on an Ovation guitar, still makes it great to play the blues :)
You are the best..with feeling..a great sound.. a simplicity..S R V would be proud of you if..thank you to continue to teach, to propagate the soul of the blues.. thank you so much.. thank you for demystifying the guitar for us..and Let the Good Times Roll Mr .steviesnacks !!!!
This lesson is so sick it should hospitalized! I will binge watch this til I'm Albertish! Vaughnish! Another eviction notice looms due to practicing into the wee hours of the night. You can expect eviction after evctiin for playing drums all nite.
littlejon64 To me AK has a richer Gibson tone while SRV has a wiry Fender tone. They are both great tones, but AK's tone is well-suited to his style which uses fewer notes and more bends.
Anthony, I just downloaded your lessons. I have countless Truefire lessons. Yours is the best of all. Really nicely done. The camera angle and many options are excellent. I tend to play the same simple licks over and over. This will open up my style a bunch. Your hard work and free videos here are appreciated by us all.
I think its important that you tell players what gauge string you're using. 9s, 10s, 11s are going to play differently. Apologies if you've already addressed it. Thanks
Forreal I think that's why Stevie's licks were extra raw and tastey heavy guage strings amazing how he was able to hit those bends wit strings that heavy
ya i think he pretty clearly stated in the start of the video that these licks sound as close to albert as he can get IE yes it is something albert would do. check out some of his stuff and you'll see what he's talking about. its pretty spot on. this dude knows his shit and is a hell of a guitar player Kauan Musumeci
I've seen Eddie and Albert and BB King I saw Albert King live in Memphis and the seventies dude you do a real good job I'd like to buy that DVD I learned the first Lick in 10 minutes and I've been wanting to play Stevie Ray stuff for a long time I'm from Clarksdale Mississippi so you know I I pretty much like the Blues
TEXAS BLUES ALLEY, SRV used the univibe but on which stevie ray vaughan songs did he use the univibe on and for live concerts? He used the univibe to get those Albert King Phase bending effects
The only reason for not joining is because already enrolled in another course. I do however, buy individual courses when available. Wish it was possible here to buy the individual courses without monthly, annual fees etc.
Email me and I'll tell you how to get on the purchase list. I don't advertise it but I do make courses available to purchase a couple times per year for those who cannot join a subscription.
Anonymous be inspired but don't neglect your personal talents guitar is evolution always remember no matter how good it is always gets better stay picking be cool
I'm just dying laughing at folk complaining about the tuning. Please for God sake never try to learn songs by the Rolling Stones. It might not be in standard tuning. lmao !
One thing that should be emphasized is that when bending notes, it's CRITICAL to bend up to the correct pitch. I notice in all these videos, that the instructor almost always bends sharp, bending past the desired pitch. It takes a lot of practice to perfect bends, which is evident here. This guy is an awesome teacher with great videos, but even his bends are almost always sharp when he bends the high e string up a full step. Ear Training is a must! Thanks for posting....JM
King was left-handed, but usually played right-handed guitars flipped over upside-down. ... Steve Cropper told Guitar Player magazine that King tuned his guitar to C-B-E-F#-B-E (low to high) whereas Dan Erlewine checked it several years later and found it tuned to C F C F A D.
What you like. I really don't get people that hear something good and immediately ask the string gauge and action and everything. Figure out what you like the you have your answer right there.
Hey, I'm just asking but then isn't it better to learn Albert's licks and how he used them by transcribing his solos rather than buying a lesson? Not to say yours is bad but developing an ear is the only real way to get better at music right?
If you have the time to do it that way AND you're able to teach yourself AND you learn primarily by ear..... then yes. That's how I did it. But I was a college student with tons of free time. A lot of people don't have the time to learn that way, are not self-learners, and learn by observation rather than ear.
@@Texasbluesalley But still learning by ear is how all the greats before is did it. Are there any new players of repute who learn otherwise? Also working people can have enough time. Depends on your job of course but if you have 2 hours a day to practice that's more than enough, which if this is a priority in one's life, they can wake up early to put in that time. Maybe until you get to a particular level, these things might help. After that u can simply learn whatever by ear, jam with others and get better endlessly.
I'm just starting out. At the 4:11 , top E bend, how can I avoid the B and G strings flicking under my third finger and ringing out? It happens everytime I bend a up a full step on the top strings. I tried a low action and high action, nothing fixes it. Must I palm mute the other strings to do any bends? That doesn't seem right and it is difficult to palm mute specific strings. Help please. Thanks. Good lessons.
Bend with the pad of your finger trapping them not the tip which makes finger go under them mate You will cheese wire slice your fingers to start with though if they are not used to bending like that
