They really did stake their claim, state their musical identity, right off the bat. They have explored a lot of styles but they always sound like Red Velvet. As Joy said in their recent promotions, when their 5 voices come together something truly amazing occurs. Happy 10 years everybody!
Automatic is STILL that girl so many years later! I'm new to your rankings btw, is it all title tracks, all songs promoted with any kind of official video or all songs including b-sides (surely not)?
With their first 6 songs, Red Velvet shows the concept their name implies so well From bright and quirky to smooth, powerful elegance, no one does it like they do. 🩷💛💙💚💜
Someone already mentioned that Yeri was just 16 when this dropped. What most do not know/mention is that this video was the first time she was in heels. Yet, she still managed to dance like this. Our little maknae was talened from the beginning. Something funny, when you said your favorite instrument starting with 'S', my first thought was: Seulgi?
As it is written, lol. It still amazes me that this song was released as early as it was. For me, everything else gets compared to "Automatic". There are a few I like as well as or better - but there are not many. This Ranking Series has made Friday on of my favorite RU-vid days of the week - thank you!
I was and still am very hit and miss with Red Velvet's title tracks, but Automatic when I first heard it, that was it, I was done, instant stan. For me they shine in the b-sides (They are the Queens of B-sides you know), and this is still to this day one of my favorite songs from them.
