Pretty helpful. I don't play baseball on a team, I used to, but I like to play catch with my dad and friends. I'm actually ambidextrous, but seeing other lefties make me feel delighted.

Ad a freshman I’m not that tall and will probably never be over 5 7 but I throw just as everyone else on my JV team and even a little harder than a few. So, my question is, does height affect your maximum pitch speed? Because my goal is D3 at least and I can see myself playing but I am concerned about being able to keep pace due to my size.

Not necessarily because there where short pitchers that have thrown faster than tall ones but height kinda does play into the role sometimes. But all the more reason to strive to be better.

Definitely not anything that drops or has a lot of movement going down that your Catcher might have to block

I am a high school catcher and when you are in high school it is completely on the catcher if it gets by you. So I usually call the same I usually would, but change my stance to where it is easier to block. I would talk to your catcher and see what he is comfortable with. If he is not confident in his blocking abilities, I would probably throw a pitch with east-to-west action. If your catcher is confident in his blocking, I would just stick to your usual arsenal. Pitches with good east-to-west movement: Slider - has a little depth, but mostly has east-to-west movement. Easily one of the best pitches in baseball. Two-seam fastball - A fastball with movement going towards the batter for a righty and away for a lefty. Cutter - I actually throw this as my main pitch when I pitch. It is the opposite of a two-seam. It is a lot like a slider, but it is 2 or 3 mph slower than a fastball normally. Sinker - Basically a two-seam, but with a little depth. This pitch is extremely effective at generating ground balls. All these pitches are pretty common and you can find a lot of different videos showing you how to throw these pitches.
