Here's my Best 3D resin printers 2022 - 3D printing for beginners - what should you buy - guide.
Carrying on with my 3D Printing for Beginners series, I ask the question, Which 3D Printer should you buy?
I answer initially with my own personal choices, before going on to offer advice on how you can evaluate your own needs and make an informed decision.
There's so many 3D printers to choose from, so many choices of brand, size, specification and more. It can be daunting when all you want is a 3D printer that will do what you want to do. That's why here I take away the guesswork, offer you my picks, but then go on to evaluate the reasoning behind making decisions - making you better abled to make your own choices.

It took me some time, but I've finally settled on the printer I want to buy! I hope to be pulling the trigger on that purchase this holiday. Here's how I did it, I hope this helps someone, somewhere: After I researched printers, I got my list down to a few of the best standard, mid, and large printers based on print quality, features, and reviews. Then, I shopped around for STL models that I actually knew I would want to print. I identified the biggest STL in my whole shopping list, which was a huge fantasy airship that came in cut-up parts to be assembled afterwards. I bought it, downloaded it, and put the cut up pieces into a slicer to see how well it fit in each printer's build volume. I filtered out any printers too small for the largest pieces. I also using my very limited experience to make sure the orientation and supports were (I hope) adjusted to give me the best chance of a successful print, and filtered out more printers that way. Then, finally, after narrowing down my choices, I made my final choice based on price.

Lately I was gifted Anycubic Mono 4k. I also got the cheapest resin I could find, just to test things out. I'm a casual mini painter, but I'd never buy this printer, as I'd aim for higher quality. But to my surprise, the quality is AWESOME! As said in the video, you can't see it with naked eye. Since 2 weeks I didn't have one bad print (once I forgot to refill resin and print came undone, but it's on me). The only issue I have right now, I'm printing huge Tyranid proxy and it's taking 2 days to print one figure. Still, best gift ever.

Personally I am a huge fan of the anycubic mega x pro fdm printer leveled the bed once in 2021 and it’s still level. The print quality and bed adhesion is spot on. It is also very user friendly. My only problem is that it hasn’t broke and I don’t have a excuse to stop printing random things.

Great info as always. Very true how the 22 micron resolution is a great benefit for Jewelers. It just reduces the finishing time while keeping a more accurate casting. Very helpful while trying to set 0.8mm diamonds with even smaller prongs. My Phrozen Sonic Mini 8k has served me well for this. My Elegoo Mars 3 was a huge upgrade over the Mars 2Pro for my jewelry needs. But the Mini 8k is by far my favorite over the Mars 3. Like VOG says, it doesn't hurt to have a couple printers. Keeping one set up for castable resins and another for different projects if you have the space. I'm excited for your DLP review!

I like my sonic mini 8k, I have 2 now and they provide very sharp prints which does help with painting them, I upgraded from the sonic mini 4k which was a nice printer too, but my favourite feature of the 8k over the 4k is the additional build volume. That said, I also purchased an anycubic mono x 6k that has the same 35 micron xy as the mini 4k, and it was about the same price delivered as my first mini 8k that was a super early bird (I won't get into the arguments of price of delivery from phrozen direct, I was happy to pay twice). I was and still am a phrozen fan, but like my mono x 6k, prints the bigger things and has nice print quality, and wasn't too expensive (and is cheaper now, sub 500 usd, perhaps a second one, maybe the saturn 2 if I wanted to wait).

I have Octoprint with my Ender 3 v2. Its a must have I reckon. Using an SD card with a FDM printer is a royal PITA! Would an ethernet port or wireless be as important with a resin printer? I am guessing you wouldn't have to re start print or change setting as much with a resin printer? I have ehernet ports in my garage so its the one thing over print quality I am looking for with my first resin printer. Cheers for the great info VOG.

i'm still wating for a midsized DLP printer because i've seen enough posts on /resinprinting to know that even the monoscreen printers don't last as long as advertised by the companies, don't want to spent €500+ on a new printer only to have to pay another €200+ a year later on screen replacement

As much as I hate to say it , in 40k universe who doesn't want a warhound titan or 3 The Phrozen mega 8k plus resin and STL file costs would be paid off making just 1 forge world warhound . $3,000 jump with no experience is a big leap of faith .
