Toyota Sienna only offers a hybrid with a 4 cylinder. Too bad. The nice v-6 would have been my solid choice. Hopefully, they will bring that back. Making second row seats removable seems like a “must do” to me.
My 2006 Sienna works great after 3 timing belts changed. I love that I can remove the seats and fit 2 sets of sofa into it when I moved. Today, I like the Sienna Hybrid, but not enough available. Maybe I will wait for the 2024 one.
I wish minivans made more of an effort to look more stylish. The Kia Carnival is perfect except that it doesn’t have AWD. The other minivans on the list look like they kept the same design since the 50s
My wife and I decided to get a minivan a few years ago. We considered 3 of the 4 here. The Chrysler was out due to poor reliability and poor transmission problems. We test drove the rest. I love the Honda's ride best. It was comfortable over bumps. It had adequate power. It was roomy. But I ruled it out because it was severely dated. Dated looks, like the designer didn't even try. Dated infotainment center. It looked like it was designed in 2016. The backup camera was horrible. My 2014 Pathfinder had a better backup camera. The Sienna, which was my favorite before the test drive, simply because my mother in law had a 2005. It was very reliable and we were very comfortable on long trips with it. However, this one was passed over because of the lethargic engine. OK..you get 34-36MPGs. That's great. But at what costs? Everything comes with a cost. You pay for it with power. The 4 cylinder engine is not enough for a van this big. Sure you have a battery powering the wheels. But it's not powerful enough. Sure, some mommas driving their kids to soccer practice will say, "I have no problem". Well I did. Acceleration was LOUD. I mean very loud because of the CVT. You go off an exit ramp and you have to literally have to floor it. And between 60-70, it takes too long to bring it into another gear. I couldn't handle the lack of power. Unacceptable for a vehicle this size. Sorry...I will pay for the gas. I'm paying nearly $50K for a minivan. I can afford the gas. What I can't afford is the lack of power when I need it. The engine is just not acceptable for me and I'm not a fast driver. But I need the car to stay with traffic if everyone's moving quick. The infotainment is also dated like the Honda. The touchscreen was sluggish to respond. The screen wasn't that big. And the backup camera seems like it's 10 years old. That leaves the Carnival. We weren't sure about buying a Kia. But they did well with the Stinger. They did great with the Telluride. Let's give the Carnival a try. The looks are great. Everyone can agree this is the best looking of the bunch. The interior was great. You just get a ton of stuff for the money. Heated and cooling seats in the back? Do the others have that? No. Reclining seats in the back for those long road trips. Wow. You don't anything like that unless you're in a Maybach. The ride was decent, probably a little behind the Odyssey. But the ride was predictable over bumps and around corners. I also loved how comfortable the seats were. Then you get a bunch of things that are just nice to have in a family van: Rear camera view, blindspot cameras integrated into gauges, Nice Bose audio, all the safety features, adaptive cruise, and lane keep (among the best in the automotive industry). It even detects movement in the back if you forget your pets or kids in the back and honks the horn. In the end, we bought the Carnival SX Prestige. Kia simply gave us too much for the money to pass up. That's their value proposition. They have to in order to compete with the big boys. So what were junky cars only bought by people who couldn't afford Japanese made cars a few years ago, are no growing into the best in each class. And it gave us a 10/100K warranty. You don't get that with the others. It's been two years since we bought one. We've taken it on some very long trips. Oh...and packing 4 people and luggage would produce 28-29MPGs. Not bad. So in the end, the Carnival is the clear winner. And no, I'm not a Kia Employee.
Fun fact: In EU, where the only* way to get a minivan is to import a used one from the US (usually the after-collision ones sold at auctions) we mostly import Pacificas, cause they loose value faster than Toyota and Sienna and therefore are the best value for money. And if we get problems with engine or transmission, replacing for a used one is 1-3% of cars value (each) and replacing for a new one is probably still less than 10%. So basially the Chryslers unreliability does not matter, cause the oversupply of engines and transmissions is big enough here to make changing them on par with changing all the fluids in the car cost-wise. *actually, Lexus announced it will offer Lexus LM, which is a minivan, however this is a rather specific vehicle and extremely pricey.
@@TheBlobik "the only way" - cmn, man! In EU I had Rifter, which was bigger and cheaper than any of US minivans. I can't now find anything similar to Rifter in Canada and very sad about it :(
I've been a GM and Nissan guy for decades. Due to the fact that all the companies seem to be not making sport sedans anymore, we looked at Kia. My father has had four in a row and he told me he was going a couple weeks later to get his fifth. We went to the dealership and we're shown the forte GT. Long story short, price, technology and performance won us over. We love the forte GT and that's even more apparent every time I smoke a Civic SI!
The Toyota Sienna is my choice I had a 2012 and it was one of the best riding vehicles that I've owned. I plan on buying a 2024 but want cord and plug connected like my RAV 4 Prime. This battery-add was discussed for 2024 and would make the Sienna impossible to beat. With my RAV4 Prime, I rarely buy gas as it goes 44 miles on electric, I want this feature on the Sienna.
We got 2023 Odyssey Sports and we love the comfort and smooth drive plus odyssey is known for high resale value too, love the sport with black out trims
Oh wow so great 👍 and very beautiful 😻❤️ and very good design with the new 🆕 technology for the new 🆕 generation hument and very easy to drive and comfortable ❤
American and Australian Honda Odyssey is so different. I like the Australian one better because lighting is All LED and at night time it looks so cool.

I love mty2014 Sienna. Apparently there is a huge waiting list for new Siennas. yhere is probably a good reason you can get a Dodge or Kia right away. Pay as you go.
It would be nice if tesla made a minivan. The cyber truck was supposed to be 6 seat but now only 5. Its not about the van being electric... after driving a Tesla and getting used to its seamless controls/interface I couldn't go back to any of these older infotainment/User interfaces.
There are only 4 minivans made in America - Chrysler Pacifica & Voyager, Toyota Sienna, Kia Carnival (formerly Sedona) & Honda Odyssey. The Toyota Sienna is the most reliable of the 4
These new minivans have become way to expensive. The new Sienna is just too pricey. And while I acknowledge Toyota's quality (I drive Toyota), the new Chrysler Pacifica is a great car for so much less money. Yes, the new Sienna is a hybrid and for minivan standards it's frugal on gas, but the extra money you have to spend...you will never earn that back.
Unfortunately, non of them fit my need. When we need to do grocery trip ,and weekend out with family of 5+ people, plus we absolutely hated to clawing in and out to buckle up kids, non of the minivans in the market can provide the space we need with AWD ability. The Chevy Astro was the right size for us, but no longer available and used one goes obsolete. We have to settle with much expensive Ford Transit . I wished there still a “middle size van” or “larger mini van” available in the market.
Hello there! Thank you for leaving a comment and sharing your thoughts. It's great to hear that you're leaning towards Toyota. Hi cedie The Carnival boasts an excellent powertrain, providing sufficient off-the-line acceleration and enough pep to reach highway speeds promptly. The transmission is smooth, and shifts are quick and mostly imperceptible. also the Carnival handles nicely compared to some of its competitors, with well-weighted steering and good body control. While it isn't sporty, the Carnival feels stable and confident on the road.
Damn what is going on here. 50 plus Gs for a Kia or a Chrysler MiniVan. You outta pocket Kia Get back in your Lane Chrysler. They acting like McDonalds now. You go to your favorite used to be CHEAP lol fast food restaurant cause you got a few bucks in your pocket and want a decent meal. Wrong!! Wrong!! Best not bring the kids you’ll spend more money than you would at a 5 star sit down restaurant
3,5 l engine with fuel consumption about 12/15 l per 100km? 300hp+? for the cars what is nothing else,. just barn on a wheeels? In a times when most cars becaming el driven or hybrids? Its not the best minivens- its most idiotic things you can buy at 2023 lol.
Depends. I specifically reject new hybrid sienna and get 2020 sienna with V6 and 8 speed trans. Mpg average 22. Highway up to 26. City almost 21. I hate electric and hybrid - just personal preference. Very happy with my Sienna.
The same I brought a 2023 chrysler pacifica S and have to say I love it. It comfortable luxury ride good and to me the best looking minivan on the market. Being able to have stow n go is also great to have.
Absolutely love our Chrysler minivan. With that said they seriously need to get the price down. And offer a version that has no bells and whistles, just basics.
I’ve had the 2021 Sienna for two years now.. not a single complaint! For those saying it lacks power, it does not at all! I’m used to driving sporty cars and this has enough juice to do what needs to be done, no one’s hot rodding in a van lol. Over 6 months in Texas I’ve averaged 32.4 mpg. I use this as my daily driver and work vehicle so bc I do lots of short city drives daily my mpg suffers a tad. But it’s been an amazing vehicle. Had a few trips to Florida and it did fantastic. I’ve removed the middle seats for a couple road trips, not hard at all, just four bolts.
I've taken one over high passes in the Rockies. It does fine. Engine noise is a problem but the power is fine and is similar to what a typical V6 minivan had 15 years ago which means enough for family use even when fully loaded.
I own a 2022 KIA Carnival SX and love it. It is powerful, smooth and quiet with tons of room. The Honda is nice (my son bought a 2022 Touring edition when he couldn't find a Carnival at MSRP). It is a little cramped for larger people in the front seats and legroom seems less than the Carnival. It is not as premium looking as the Carnival inside, either. The Sienna is nice but can't get out of its own way...no power and is pricey. The Chrysler is, well, a Chrysler. Very overpriced and unreliable.
@@RU-viduser1aa CVT tranny pulling a heavy vehicle around? TWO electric motors? Regenerative braking? More battery packs (very bad for environment)... That's complicated. laugh all you want.
If you tow or haul the Sienna is a loser. Fixed 2nd row seats just kill the interior hauling capability. If you're carrying only people it can be tolerable, but you're losing a good bit of what a minivan can do. The stow and go 2nd row seats in the Pacifica are a real advantage.
@@kenjkbs I know that you won't be impressed by the fact that minivans are actually considered to be trucks. If it has a flat load floor and a full opening rear hatch the EPA considers it to be a truck for fuel economy purposes. Thus you have such weirdness as the PT Cruiser being considered a "truck" but PT convertible being considered as a "car". In fact the original Dodge Caravan was designed by the truck division. After the car side saw how well it sold they snatched later designs away from truck so they could claim credit for it. Not that any of that has much to do with reality.
My mother bought a Nissan Quest new in 1993 & it lasted about 20 years before finally falling apart one day. If Chrysler could make a Pacifica with THAT kind of reliability, this would be no contest for me anyways...
I have a 2013 Chrysler Town & Country with 409,000 miles and she still kicking along and is in good shape. So when ppl say chrysler dont last long that's a lie. My father always said if you take care of it it will take care of you. So i went and brought a 2022 chrysler pacifica limited S and have to say i love everything about it. From all the bells and whistles it rides great very comfortable seats and enough power to get around town with a really good sound system.
I must agree on this one. Maintenance is key to any vehicle. Recently we had a chance to drive the Pacifica and it was a pleasant experience. We have a 2022 Carnival which we picked because we fell in love with the looks and interior. We traded a 2017 Odyssey which had some electrical issues (9-speed version, stay away from that one!). The Carnival is very comfortable and spacious as described in the video. But recently we had to drive from Florida to OH on a rental Pacifica S trim (flights canceled, thanks Frontier...) and I must say I have no complaints. It drove through rain and a bit of ice and snow without trouble. Excellent power, felt secure in the highway, and seats were comfortable too. I still like my Carnival better due to slightly more cushion on the front seats and personal preferences around overall design and interior aesthetics. Performance wise they are both very good and I wouldn't mind having either as a daily driver. If I could add something to mine is the the hybrid engine option; sounds good depending on extra cost. Our daily commute is just 40 miles round trip so this would pretty much be driven on the battery which would save a lot of gas.
I think 2023 Sienna comes with Safety Sense 2.0, not 3.0. Toyota is not producing enough Sienna as there is a huge backlog. I think Sienna would be better if any one can get one.
I just got my 2023 toyota sienna xse at the beginning of may had to order in march of 2022. So quite the wait. However totally worth it. Me and my wife just had our second baby 2 weeks ago. I plan on having this van for at least 15 years. And cant believe how much easier it is to use than an suv.
We have our 2022 Sienna XLE. We absolutely love it, the fuel efficiency is mind blowing with 40mpg. The only negative is personally i feel its soo light, I prefer something heavier while driving. But overall its worth every penny.
We had a Honda Odyssey 2018, mid trim 9 speed transmission, and unfortunately it gave us lots of electrical issues. Traded for a 2022 Carnival SX and we absolutely love it. I've gone from OH to FL and to PA on it several times and is is a very pleasant drive. Depending on your appetite for throttle it can be harsh like 26 mpgs; however, if you take it easy and use the eco setting while keeping it at 75 or below you can hit 30 mpg. Really depends on how much you push on that pedal. Kind of a challenge because it does has a nice engine note when pushing a little 😉. Overall we are quite pleased with it and hope for many years of service out of it.
Every van should be as good as Toyota in today’s times. We send people in space for Pete sake. My 2004 Sienna LE will be 20 years old in October. I love this van. Rides like new.
Although not on the list, I’m considering Hyundai Custo (only available in Asia so far), it’s really good value for money, it costs about ¥24k for a basic modification + excellent fuel economy (1.5 turbo engine).
I agree minivans provide several advantages over SUVs, so it is unfortunate that Ford, GM, Mazda and Nissan no longer make minivans. GM & Ford just want to make big SUVs because they make the most profit
All the compact cargo vans are dead in the USA and I can't afford a full-size van nor do I want one. I wish Toyota would bring their small vans over here, or at least offer a stripped-down cargo version of the Sienna for a reasonable price.
I have Honda Odyssey minivan. It often causes battery problems and therefore I have struggled with the engine start many times. I am not gonna buy Honda again.
2023 Kia Carnival EX will be our pick. Drove both the Honda and the Kia to compare and hands down the Kia in my opinion beat the Honda by a lot. The Honda felt like a typical Mini Van, but the Kia goes over the top!
2023 sienna best minivan. But also the most elusive and impossible to get. Pricing is very reasonable but can't get any inventory so dealers mark up $5k to $20k!!! Kid you not my local dealer flat out said $20k over msrp and said there's always someone desperate to pay for it.
I liked the idea of having the hybrid sienna. Found one in vero beach Florida if I wanted to pay dealers fee of 14,999. Nope not for me. I have a 2016 odyssey that I do love, just wish the back hatch was automatic cause closing hatch can be a little difficult at times.
@mianucrew here in Long Island NY a dealer is asking for a $20k over MSRP for a Sienna XLE. It's just sick what these dealers do. Auto mfg need to do away with dealers and sell direct to consumers.

I NEVER PAY OVER MSRP, I DEMAND AT LEAST A 1500 TO 2,000 DISCOUNT OR I Walk Way, hell with them.!....i do not ever kEEp a car once the mfg warranty expires cause aLL BRANDS FALL APART.after 4 yrs...if miles do not destroy them time and HEAT will...THE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS SIENNA IS NO 6 CYL, 4 DOES NOT CUT IT!
Not having AWD is not a downside. It's not needed as these are all FWD-biased having the majority of the weight over the front wheels. You also reduce the price by around $2000 + any maintenance over the time of ownership relating to the AWD components.
I live in the forest and have to have AWD for those snowy trips down the mountain. Ice too. It's too dangerous not to, but we need the van size, so AWD is a key factor.
My 2005 Chrysler Minivan has power lift gate I find it ridiculous that it isn't standard on all minivans. It also has power sliding side doors. Honda needs to get with it.
