I respect Dr. Berg. I was a glutton & overweight with a 39" waist. After watching Dr. Berg, I am doing 20/4 IF for the last 12 months. I take 2 meals in my 4 hour feeding window. My diet is nuts, wholegrains, fruits, veggies & yogurt. Lost 14 kg & shrunk to 33" waistline in 12 months. Am happy , full of energy. All my stress is gone, I AM LIVING MY BEST LIFE. FOOD WAS MY CURSE, FOOD WAS IMPRISONING ME. I AM NOW FULLY LIBERATED, I AM NO MORE A SLAVE.
Me too, but nothing wrong with that. You just have to get in enough Omega3 to counter the additional Omega 6 from the Pistachios, then you can eat as much as your Carbs allow you to
Big a huge bag. then go home and seperate them into smaller bags (reusable ones of course) and then only eat that one bag at one time. This tells your brain...hey, I just ate a bag of pistaccios and I'm satified.
Sotospapp Greece is beautiful! The people are so friendly! Greece 🇬🇷 also has olives, lemons 🍋, and the biggest artichokes I have ever seen!! I didn’t know about pistachios from there. I’ll have to try some! 👍🏻👍🏻
Neesie Davis 😍Everything taste amazing!! Raw, organic foods and amazing soils rich in minerals and vitamins. Unfortunately I’ve start appreciate everything when i left my country and moved to Uk. You see when we have something we don’t appreciate it until we lose it.😅
I love Pistachios! They have an incredibly hard shell, in fact if you have a problem with a slightly opened pistachio, just use the edge of another shell to pry it open, it works a treat :)
Hammer Slammer : According to the nutrition label on the back of my 8 oz. package. There are four (2 ounce) servings in the bag. Two ounces of pistachios contain the following: Calcium 30 mg. Iron 1.1 mg. Potassium 280 mg. Thiamin .2mg. Vitamin B6 .3 mg. Phosphorus 130 mg. Magnesium 30 mg. Copper .4 mg Manganese .3 mg
These lectures connect deep scientific knowledge with daily life. Thank you so much doctor for acknowledging us the much needed facts for a healthier lifestyle.
I was literally contemplating buying pistachios this morning while shopping. I actually ended up with almonds, hazelnut, brazil seed, cashews and walnuts. Next time I'll get some pistachios I really like them with a little salt on anyway. Thanks for the video, now got a good excuse to eat some pistachios! Love your video's, always informative.
Glory to the Creator for having created pistachios! This video is quite delightful to me for pistachios are quite delightful to me. Thanks for the elaboration on the nutritional content of pistachios, Dr. Berg. I had heard before that it has the lowest oxalates of all the nuts & much less than my other favorite, namely cashews, although I've laid off cashews now (unless I've soaked the cashews in water for a few days & then roasted them a bit in the oven) since hearing cashews are nearly as high in oxalates as almonds are. But to hear of all the other nutritional content was grand. 👍 Intending to buy a couple or so more packages of pistachios later today. 👍
I noticed most of the comments are from people that can't stop once they start. One trick I've learned that works really well for me, ( on nuts, not candy) as soon as I get a bag of nuts of any kind I put them in snack bags so when I want some I grab a bag and go to another room.
Hahaha.. I like your thinking..go to another room! I try that and end up back in the kitchen, for just one more handful 😂 Good tip non the less, bless ur heart 💛
I am in IT pro but since I started watching these video, it seems I am also a medical student as I remember more medical terms than IT terminologies. Thanks, Dr Berg.
Dear Mr Berg: I have 2 questions on pistacios: 1. should we eat them roasted or raw ? 2. Could I Use them for low carb baking recipes instead of other nuts like almonds or half and half with almonds?
Many many Thanks Dr Eric! Just started my IF and now @ 72hrs and feeling great! will push to a 5 day as it's my first time, just to allow some resetting on my hormones / pathways, need to shed about 75 pounds. Your RU-vid channel is so Awesome! Thanks for your deep dive and amazing explanation on the importance of various types of IF / Foods / Oils and Lifestyles, with their applicable reactions to our bodies via hormonal / nervous system triggers.
Wow, I never knew they were low in oxalates! This is super important for me as I am very sensitive to oxalates and encouraging because I love pistachios and am always happy to find things that add diversity to my diet!
This is good news. I was thinking "oh dear, too many carbs in pistachios." Since I can't chew well I put them in a dish in the morning and cover with some filtered water. In the afternoon I remove the water and eat with a spoon. Incredible snack.
Dr Berg thanks for all these videos; I have the following nuts/seeds and want to know how much of each should we take per day? I have: Sunflower seeds - Pine Nuts - Chai seeds - Hulled Sesame seeds - Brazil nuts - Pistachio kernels. Is it a good idea to take a little of each and have with breakfast? Or is a different part of the day better? Can I take all of them together? I know taking ONE brazil nut every other day is recommended and eat after soaking and drying for 8 hours to release phytic acid; I cut each one in three to help release the acid faster. Is this a good thing to do? In short how much or how little should I take for each of nut/seed in each day? Thanks.
Once in a while I buy a bad brand/batch and they taste more bitter than the better brands/batches and are usually a little smaller and have more of that papery inside skin.
Hello Dr. Berg, I am watching your videos from last two months. I was really benefited from your product wheatgrass juice Powder. I am a guy who eats three meals a day and gained lot of weight due to it. I was not sure whether I could do IF and keto diet. But your videos are inspiring and I started doing IF with wheatgrass juice Powder and keto foods. In one month I lost some 7kgs and I am still continuing. Thank you so much for your contribution in educating people with health facts and keep up the good work :)
Someone commented on the melatonin content of pistachios. Here's what is says online: Pistachios are not just the most melatonin-rich nut, they are simply off-the-charts as the most melatonin-rich food ever recorded. To get a physiological dose of melatonin, all you have to eat is two. ... So, taking a whole handful of pistachio nuts is like taking one of those high-dose melatonin supplements.
@DEVARMONT7 peer reviewed climate change is proof that peer review doesn't always mean it's the truth. Almost anybody in a science field can be bought off. Why would anyone falsify information on melatonin levels in pistachios? Do you think it would increase sales? Even if they don't have the highest melatonin content, people will buy them because they are so tasty.
Things that were omitted but to be aware of: Quantity: About a handful (1.5 ounces) is a good amount to shoot for each day. If you’re concerned about limiting your pistachio intake as the buttery flavor can be addicting, go for the kind that have shells on them instead of the pre-shelled ones. Since pistachios contain fructans, eating too many of them can cause bloating, nausea, or abdominal pain. So it’s always a good idea NOT to overdo it.
That happened to me recently. I had pain and bloating on my left side after eating pistachios. Couldnt seem to get rid of it. I did some situps and it went away very fast afterwards.
I love pistachios! Quickly becoming my favorite nut! Although when I eat it I have keto polices telling me it’s not “keto” 😑because although it’s low carb it’s higher than other nuts. I pay no mind to it and still eat it and I’m in the best shape of my life. Thanks for the video Dr. Berg!
My favorite nut is pistachios. Never saw them until I was older. All of my kids loved them too. I’ve even given them to them for gifts when they were older so they remembered how good they are. I never studied them, per se, but have researched them years ago , I’m sure. I’ve been interested in nutrition ever since my first pregnancy.
YOUR SUCCINCT BUT PRECISE AND CLEAR EXPLANATION ON THE HEALTH BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TYPE OF NUT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED .YOU DO AN AMAZING JOB IN ANALYSING HEALTH ISSUES.
That was because some time ago pistachios were imported. During that process the shells would get roughed up and bruised. To cover that up and not make them seem as low quality, they would dye them red. As of lately, the us has been producing their own pistachios, hence the absence of dyes.
Hi Dr Berg; Thanks for all you do,Its great.I wish more people who are in your position would mention about Acrylamides in roasted nuts and phytic acid & lectins,Also for men a new study between the risk of prostate problems and folic acid. Most of the data on pistachios is that they have a moderate amount of oxalic acid in regards to the body having a hard time dealing with oxylates and most people do not know how to precipitate them out of the body.
Dr Berg. Thank you. I’m now Subscribe to you thank you for your content very informative and gives a better understanding of how food and the body works together
Question - is there a best form to eat pistachios? Dry roasted vs. raw? Do I need to source organic pistachios? Salted or unsalted? Thanks! Love your videos, Dr. Berg! Always informative. So grateful to have food you on RU-vid!
I love them and like others can’t stop eating them once I start, but like all nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables those “nutrients” were never meant for us. I’m just curious the level of anti nutrients in them which would affect the percentage of those alleged nutrients that are actually bioavailable to humans. Like anything else it’s really the nutrients we are actually able to absorb and assimilate that actually matters in the end
Well done to this program which is provided good and healthy information about food. Pistachios are major food in Iranian habit which it will growth in North East of Iran with different variety.
I do 💜 love 🌰 nuts & it's a part of my daily nutrition. My question is asking for a future video on this. Can a variety of nuts replace the leafy 🥗 greens you like so much? Nuts are easier to store & they take up less space too. I find most leafy greens very bitter while I enjoy all nuts. I hope this might be video worthy. Thanks & I enjoy all the content you put out.
dcrispin1 years ago I worked in a grocery store and if I remember correctly we would get red ones in before Christmas. That could be a regional preference too though. 🤷🏽♂️
As usual, best Dr. on ytube. Concise, efficient and fast videos. His knowledge has Forced me to adjust to a superior lifestyle per food intake. Just wish could get European bread here in USA.
Wonderful! It's my main companion with a Black Label drink. Dr Berg, I appreciate very much these shorter version of video where you zoom into the details of one nutritional food. It helps me more to retain what I consider beneficial for my health and retention of the knowledge.
Pistachios have 15 grams of carbs per 100 grams of nuts. Cashews have 22 grams of carbs per 100 grams of nuts. I would consider neither to be "low carb". As all poisons though, everything depends on the dosage. There is nothing wrong with eating a mere handful as long as you are tracking your daily carbs. But who can eat just a handful?
@@panpiper My Mom used to eat peanuts(which I know, aren't technically nuts) til she got sick; she loved em! .....she just kept eating & eating.....her digestion just couldn't take it.....but she didn't know when to stop...So, like you said, just a handful is enough for a person, at one sitting...maybe enough for one day.....Whaddaya think??.
Your Brain processing starts going bizzar friend; You need to have nutrtious diet then it will not happen viz have proper dinner with veges and rice plus some meat every evening
According to the nutrition label on the back of my 8 oz. package. There are four (2 ounce) servings in the bag. Two ounces of pistachios contain the following: Calcium 30 mg. Iron 1.1 mg. Potassium 280 mg. Thiamin .2mg. Vitamin B6 .3 mg. Phophorus 130 mg. Magnesium 30 mg. Copper .4 mg Manganese .3 mg
Am I the only one who has been watching Dr Berg since February 2018 and still re-watches his tutorial vlogs in 2022 ? Light and love from South Africa.
You mentioned that we definitely want to eat organic peanuts b/c they do crop rotations with cotton fields that use Roundup. Ideally organic is best for pistachios - just wondering if non-organic would be okay too - as sometimes the organic pistachios are harder to find. Thx! : )
Organic is a merely a word that generally means nothing as nefarious corporations find loopholes to still claim it. Like sugar having 60+ ways to be labeled in a hidden way.
