The reaping is characterized by crossing the foot AND applying pressure on the outside of the knee, inwards. Because Tye's hips are in front of the opponent's knee (rather then on its back - almost like an "inverted" 50/50), he's applying pressure directly to the front of the knee, in a knee bar, so I'd say it's not reaping.

@@Leitefsj Hm, I agree that this position is somewhat less "dangerous" by IBJJF logic. But you would 100% get disqualified if you go for a knee bar from the classic ashi garami position (I realize that is not really feasible, but let's say you could for the argument). I feel like the way knee reaping is refereed right now is not about actual pressure being applied to the knee laterally, but about trapping the opponents leg that only allows them to turn inward. Here there is no way to externally rotate, only internally, so IMO it should be considered reaping with consistent judging.

@@bjarneschmalbach1524 can you show some dq's examples of what your talking about? because you cannot reap the knee from behind, like the ''matrix hook , matrix position 50/50 roll'' are legal at all belts done all the time. tarik could turn anyway here with little fear of twisting kneelock or lateral kneebar via leg entanglement.., if the knee is turned around your good you can throw ethier leg across..you cannot create the acl torque so ibjjf didn't make it illegal (just to be clear im discussing why knee reap is illegal ),,, the reap creates this diagonal pressure that when the foot comes across the front (it must be from the front nothing else is really is same and won't get you a dq or there'd be loads from 50/50 rolls and matrix) of the knee pushing back and inside, ,, your right about knee reaping its is not about pressure its about possible pressure,, if you go to ashi/single leg x and bring the foot across you get a dq because the possible pressure that you could apply if you slapped it on fast @100% creating a twisting kneelock or lateral kneebar,,
