interesting points ,if anyone else wants to discover easy ukulele songs to play try Panlarko Amazing Uke Planner (just google it ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate got amazing success with it.
@@CloudyROBLOXRMVgamesandmore Oof it got further twisted, i only meant for the minor to be on A. C is Major (C-E-G) and so is F (F-A-C) and G (G-B-D). The only minor is the A she plays. (A-C-E is correct) Correct Version: C Major (C-E-G) G Major (G-B-D) A Minor (A-C-E) F Major (F-A-C)
My 8yo daughter got a ukulele for Christmas and we were just browsing RU-vid for some tutorials when we stumbled onto this video and you blew us away! Thanks for inspiring my little girl!!
Lindsey, I am a music teacher and I have my students play along to this video when they are finally introduced to a minor. It is wonderfully done and I thank you very much. I chose your video because your vocal model (singing voice) is outstanding. However, you use some music terminology incorrectly, I would love it if you would re-record it use the right terms. In this video you use the word "beats" when you mean "measures" or "bars." A measure is a group of accented and unaccented beats. These songs are all in 4, so there are four beats in each group or measure/bar. Think of the bar/measure as one complete strumming pattern (down, down up, up down up). Some of these songs change only every two bars, or two complete strumming patterns. Note that bar is different than barre (fretting multiple strings at once). Beat means the steady pulse in music. These songs are typically about 136-144 beats per minute. Most of these songs change chords every four beats, or every one bar.
Kris VerSteegt Thank you for the feedback. I am glad to hear that you use this video for your students! I have put a notice in the description of this video for the mix up of technical language. Hope this helps future viewers.
That tells a lot about you as a teacher. The girl is stupidly strumming the same chord progression over and over again even though the songs she is singing do not use the progression or the chords she is playing. And you are using the video as the example for kids? Let's see some examples: Jar of hearts. Where is that half-a-bar of Fm after F? Forever young - complete BullSh... C, G, Am, F, Dm, Am, F, G Hey soul sister. What was the Am for in the 2nd part? Let it be... Again, there is a place where it goes straight to F, she still plays the Am. Time to say goodbye... If she sang one bar, it would be OK. When she started another, again she messed up by keeping her progression and not starting over from C. I listened Elise Ecklund v=Ljmm1wCssJg right after. That girl knows what she is doing and I think she would be a proper example for teaching kids. At least she does everything correctly.
Dogbrain Incorporated Dude, can you please calm down, Doesn't have to be completely correct for it to sound decent. Personally, I think It's good for beginner uke players, Yes, maybe Elise has more experience but this video was posted possibly one year ago, You shouldn't compare different ukulele players, It's good to give feedback but you shouldn't be so disrespectful and harsh about it.
@@sashaskoda2200 OK. I get it. This is RU-vid, this is the Internet in other words and it is a big garbage bin (no offence) where you have to sort everything on the particular topic out and select the info that suits you. It is a fact and everyone knows it. The girl did the video, she did it with all her mistakes, she has the right and it's on her. And it's OK. She just has to be ready to deal with such comments and she is supposed to know which ones are right and which ones are the cyberbullying type that she actually can just ignore. But when a teacher chooses a video like that to teach kids, I pitty them about the quality of education they get. And praising a person about a video with obvious deffects, I personally think it is not appropriate. Imagine you are looking for a Pithagor theorem (sorry for possible misspelling) video and you find a dude saying it is C equals square root of A+B. And you notice a math teacher in a comment praising that dude for the video and saying that he or she teaches kids according to that video. Please describe your reaction. I appreciate your sincerity. Seriously.
How the hell can u dislike this... its soo clear and easy for (what seems like it would be all) beginners. I't probably a lot easier 4 me bc I play guitar but I still cant imagine anything as good that is clear and easy to learn.
This was such a day brightener. My dads a classical guitar teacher at a local university, and ive always followed his very strict instruction. The light heartedness of this and your smile while playing reminds me of why i love playing music. Its just meant to fun.
I have a ukulele but yours sounds right.. like the sound is sweet. When I play the same, mine doesn't sound like that, it doesn't sounds right, the sound it makes is "harder"😭 I think I didn't tune it right but I have tried everything and nothing sounds good😔
Maybe you just dont have the same uke. I have a tenor, which sounds like you said "harder" than a concert or soprano If this is not helpful maybe your uke is not properly tuned. Download the app Guitartuna, I use it and it really helps...
Or maybe it's just the way your ukulele sounds, I first had one that sounded horrible and then exchanged it for a better one (which was even a bit cheaper)
Picked up my uke today and went looking for some help to play it and yours was the first video I tried. It was a great start! A four year old video, amd you are still helping people begin their journey.
Olivia Ferguson ok thanks. That means with the First chord down down up up and with the Second chord down up down down and so on? Sorry for my english!
THANK YOU!! it would be amazing if you could do more tutorials like this one! :) I loved it and even if I can't sing that well, I love to play all this songs together!:) :) :)
Great way to learn playing ukulele and to practice strumming... i believe that as u go along and practice at ur own pace u'l get there... patience is the key 😊 Thanks for this vid!
You can also play ‘I don’t know my name’ by Grace vanderwaal with those four chords and the same strumming pattern (you repeat the strumming pattern twice per chord) The chord progression is C, F, Am, G. Chorus C F I don’t know my name Am G I don’t play by the rules of the game C F So you say I’m just trying Am G Just try ing Also, this girl is incredible, being able to know all of these songs!! Real talented!
OH MY GOD, that's so hard to do it for one attempt!! I really admire you and your play (sorry for my English, I'm only learning). So beautiful voice. Don't stop doing what you like. Thanks for all you do for us, your subscribers. I love you, honey💞
Gurl on Girl-Gaming OMG I was scrolling and hoping someone would make this same correlation! At least she added some more updated songs and not the exact same songlist. ^_^
I agree. And like I said, I like this tutorial and I learned some good stuff, but I think she should’ve at least mentioned Axis of Awesome as the originators of a lot of this arrangement.
Thanks Lindsey!!! You’ve truly opened up a lot of doors with my beginning of ukulele playing. Definitely going to put all of these to good use. And you have a beautiful voice and are very talented. Keep Rockin 🎸🎸🎸 on!!!
I really like the way you teach. Could you please do a video on how to play "Hey Ho" by the lumineers in the simplest way possible? I am just learning and I am having a really hard time getting it down. Thanks!! 🤙
Correct me if I made a mistake! B1 means every 1 beat and B2 for every 2 beats B1 Just a small town girl living in a lonely world She took the midnight train going anywhere Just a city boy Born and raised in South-Detroy Took the midnight train going anywhere B2 I won't hesitate no more no more This is our fate I'm yours B2 Who do you think you are? Running 'round leaving scars Collecting your jar of hearts And tearing love apart You're gonna catch a cold From the ice inside your soul Don't come back to me Who do you think you are? B1 Forever young I want to be forever young Do you really want to live forever Forever and ever B1 Take on me Take me on I'll be gone B1 Is it too late now to say sorry? 'Cuz I'm missing more then just your body B1 You get off on your 9 to 5 Dream of big events and trophy wives But no, I'm never gonna be I don't wanna be I don't want to sit still look pretty B1 Look for the girl with the broken smile Ask her if she wants to stay a while And she will be loved, she will be loved B1 Hey soul sister Ain't that mister mister on the radio, stereo The way you move ain't fair you know? Hey soul sister I don't want to miss a single thing you do B1 And in my hour of darkness She is standing right in front of me Speaking words of wisdom Let it be Let it be x4 Whisper words of wisdom Let it be B1 Let it go x2 Can't hold it back anymore Let it go x2 Turn away and slam the door B1 Can you feel the love tonight? B1 'Cuz you're hot 'n you're cold You're yes then you're no You're in then you're out You're up then you're down You're wrong when it's right It's black and it's white We fight we make up We kiss we break up B1 I didn't know that I was starving 'till I tasted you Don't need no butterflies when you give me the whole damn zoo By the way x2 You do things to my body I didn't know that I was starving 'Till i tasted you B Time to say goodbye Horizons are never far But I have to find them alone Without you I'm on my own
This is the very first video tutorial, of many thousands, that I have watched where the "instructor" mentions how many beats per chord the strumming change. This is exactly what I needed to hear to understand strumming patterns better. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Lindsey! Thank you for this tutorial. I just started playing ukulele this 31st of March and as of today, April 5th, I'm doing a slow progress but I think I'm getting better. I learned a lot from this video especially during the deciding time if I'll buy a uke or not. Looking forward for more of your tutorials! Stay safe! Sending hugs from the Philippines! 😊 🇵🇭
This is wonderful- just know it’s not beats, it’s measures. 4 beats to a measure in this case. So you either change your chord every measure or every other measure.
I received an ukulele for Christmas and have watched sooo many videos with little to no progress. This video has helped me to progress in just a couple of hours!! Thanks so much!! I now believe that I can learn!! You're a great teacher!!
I've finally learnt the chord and the pattern!! I CANNOT sing and play at the same time...Is there something wrong with me or do I just have to practice?
Wow... it was magic!! I can play the ukulele for my first try.... despite I still struggle at changing the chord, especially to G, but it was really amazing!! i was never able to play guitar before. Now at least, I have a chance to play the ukulele before treating to learn guitar again.thanks for the video!
It's like I'm listening to a remix of 15 songs. 2020 anyone? This video has been showing up many times in my recommendation, well, I didn't regret watching it. I have a ukulele so after watching this video, I searched the lyrics and played it how you played. Your voice is beautiful!💖
Thank you, Lindsey!! I just got a ukulele for Christmas this year and I’m learning some songs through this video (more specifically, “Let It Be”). Bless you and everything you do! ❤️
Wow you are so beautiful and your voice is smoother than butter. The song selection was amazing and a wide range of songs. You are amazing so keep up the good work!! 💟💟

How to match the singing with playing the uke? Everytime I start singing, everything is just messed up. I also notice your strumming speed is different too.
12F-PSIS 10th generation I messed up a lot on riptide, but depending on the song you can just kind of strum however you want and get a feel for it, once you do that even if it doesn’t sound great try playing the song through playing it however needed. I hope this helps
Gracie Nadeau same over here. I guess I just gave up on that for now. I’m playing Can’t Help Falling in Love right now. It goes at a much slower pace and I can sing now. With one song at least. I’m happy with it.
You will never be able to play and sing together when u learn a new song, always need to Set in stone the rhythym and u need to feel comfortable with it to the point it becomes muscle memory. Thats when u will be able to sing.
There's another site I love and your videos is one. I'll be taking your skill to the residents I have in need. Love you so much. Thank you. Hope you're well. ❤❤❤
dude this is so good! I just got my ukulele for Christmas (SOMEHOW we ended up with that money) and it's literally 3:21am while I'm watching this, so I get to surprise everyone I live with when they wake up with my new uke skills! thank you so much lindsey, your voice is amazing and you're brilliant at what you're doing
Just practice, try just doing the chords without strumming so you get the hang of switching then add the strumming. Start out slow and then work your way up to normal speed. It might seem hard but it was really hard for me too and i did these and now its quite easy
