My fifth "4 chords" video in which I give an example of some of the many songs that can be played using the same four chords.
All 4 Chords Videos - • RipTard's Guitar Video...
*A few notes about the four chords:
1) Although all these songs use the four chords at one point or another, they may not be the four chords throughout the whole song (as in they may be used only during the verse or only the chorus)
2) Many of the songs are actually in different keys - I transposed them all to the same key (G, D, Em, C) for the purpose of this video.
3) The songs in this video do not all use the four chords in the same order:
-"Mario Kart Love Song" through "Caramelldansen" are G, D, Em, C
-"You Found Me" through "You're Gonna Go Far Kid" are Em, C, G, D
-"I Will Always Love You" through "Duke of Earl" are G, Em, C, D
-"Heart of Gold" is Em, C, D, G
-"Don't Impress Me Much" through "Umbrella" are C, G, D, Em
-"Viva La Vida" is C, D, G, Em
-"Whatcha Say" is C, G, Em, D
-"Taken" is G, C, Em, D
-"Dynamite" is Em, D, G, C
-"California Gurls" and "Hey Ya!" are G, C, D, Em

The songs are really similar, but Puff Daddy actually simplified the chords to "THE" 4 chords. The original actually changes it up, believe it or not.

the one with the rapping came out later as far as i know. Guess that's I'll be missing you, since the original song had lyrics which came close to stalking (every breath you take /I'll be watching you) ~

They sampled The Police song. That was Puff Daddy's/Diddy's/whatever he's going by now calling card. He used to LOVE to sample songs for his own work.

Every breath you take by the police was written in the 1980s this is obvious song/rhythm and lyrics stealing!!!!!!!! Also the lyrics are the same they just change the word "you" to "I"for example "every step you take" (The police) and "every step I take" (puff Daddy)

Dude you can play guitar and have a decently good voice. If you took like a couple months of voice training you could do X factor man. All you need is to sharpen your notes and pump up the volume a little bit and you got it. Hell they got youtube tutorials on how to sharpen your notes it wont cost you anything! You got what it takes to be great just train a bit more. Thumbs if you agree?? C'mon support this guy!

As someone who's a few weeks into learning the guitar, I take this as an exercise in chord changing and strumming variation where there's a near infinite number of options so I don't get bored, in varying tempos so I can do it slower and speed up as I improve. Don't take it so seriously ^.^

Ingenious, entertaining, yes with only 4 chords, you show us how easy it is to learn the guitar and play soo many great songs. So what, you got creative and put on some silly side shows, it's all about having fun and entertaining yourself and others, and you taught me how to do this. (My wife still makes fun of me when I "Riptard" to my 3 young daughters). Keep up the show.

even if he is wrong... what he says is somehow correct...the truth is... im one of those who he hates... i learned few things that are "good" and make sound like a "great guitar player" but are so simple that you can learn most of them in just 2 weeks... and use them alot...(i know some classical and som "hard stuff" to, but is not that impresive... so i just use 3 to 4 chords and tapping for almost every song...) so he can hate me if he wants to, im not playing guitar for him anyway...

That's funny. Since you're insulting him as a guitarist, I was expecting you to be pretty great, so I looked for your uploads. I was rather disappointed to find there was nothing there. Did you leave them on another channel? Did you have some recording problems? No, neither of the above. No matter how "hip and with it" you are, RipTard is infinitely better than you by virtue of actually having uploaded something. I disagree...... I believe he is demonstrating simple techniques for beginners to start playing songs....... As a beginning guitar player, it can sometimes be overwhelming when you don't see progress. I think what he's doing here is fantastic...... As for the voice, I do not remember him claiming to be a vocalist.... Let's not judge.......

It depends on what song but most likely no... some songs use this 4 chord progression on the chorus... so you have to do some research and find out what and if there's a turn around or bridge, and also an intro or outro... not to mention the verse will prob be different from the chorus... hope this helps

use his "how to" vid first, i just learned those 4 things in 20 minutes of full concentration. Just be sure to feel comfertable with the switching of the chords, thats pretty much the hardest part! After that i jammed for like 2 hours with those 4 chords trying the songs hes been showing in this vid. Thank you RipTard, you made my start with the guitar so much more fun :)

These videos both highlight how most musicians nowadays are not talented by the fact that their songs use just 4 chords, yet it shows how they don't need to use complicated guitar riffs to be good.

The four chords can be in any key. The chords are the first, the fifth, the sixth and the fourth in your major scale. A bit of help for the people who know the major scale i guess.

I resent the fact that you had "I'll be missing you," rather than "every breath you take" (though I guess it's technically not in the right key)...made up for it with duke of earl though.
