It's no secret that upon standing the top platform is very easy to dislodge. Any leaning against the side will scare the crap out of you and if the top section falls against the bottom it'll ruin the best of hunting days. I bought third hand straps that pull the top section firmly to the bottom section and hold it in place very well. It makes your stand super stable. I tried them the first time today in my Summit viper and the top was rock solid. I highly recommend them to anyone who has a climber or is thinking about getting one.
Dropped my clip today, those d-loop cable pin clips, the ones that hold the cable that loops the tree and keeps your stand attached to said tree. Yep, that sucked, as my extra clips were in my bag on the ground 20' down and to awkward and heavy to hoist up. It was a wonderful ankle rubbing bear climb down.
Don`t know clip your talking about . I read one of you reply to another viewer mine doesn`t have clips and I use a small rope to tie my top to the bottom . My climber is a Summit Titan . But that was good info although .
The clips my climber uses look like these: ads.midwayusa.com/product/1015933293?pid=294347&Hunting+-+Treestands+%26+Accessories&gclid=Cj0KCQjww_f2BRC-ARIsAP3zarEJjPl2dZLDm6Pa-YhrIFrL9R5tQQjGe_IVoxz5M_uW4n-c9A7tHp8aAiPXEALw_wcB
This is pretty hard to answer. I haven't used a climbing tree stand in a few years, however I really liked API. Summit makes great stands too. There are a lot of variables and everyone is different. Just find one that's light, but sturdy, with a simple adjustment system. I know this answer probably doesn't help you that much lol
