I used the wooden structure in this video last season! Worked great and successfully transplanted a number of items out to my patio garden. Cucumbers, tomatoes, basil, and a bunch of others I can quite remember. Can’t wait for gardening season to start!!

Great way to introduce growlights, Thanks for showing several setups, very useful. How about another vid on the actual growing of seedlings under lights( i.e. which seeds to put in which containers)? How about a talk on pollypro pots (yes, slightly expensive but we've got to get away from plastics and why not start here? Pollypro muffin trays anyone?) How about mentioning moving plants about is the place individual plants are lost (pinched between pots, thumbed out, missing the light)? How about watering and temperature (both tricky subjects)? How about culling the weak (a very unpopular idea)? How about the philosophy of holding on tightly and letting go lightly?

Thanks Barbara! Absolutely - we are about to have a whole bunch of seed starting content coming up!

Put the end pieces on the INSIDE of your wood frame ,attach a thin 1/4" plywood piece onto the end pieces ,and then put your grow tray or pots on the plywood .Keeps everything together if you have to move your stand and pots. For ease of lifting your unit attach a small handle on the outside of each vertical wood piece at the top of. those verticals. I'm sure there are other ways of improving your simple but smart grow light stand.Thanls for your video!

Fabulous, Jordan. I have been struggling the last couple of years with seedlings and where to put them. Your tips and ideas made me realize I have the perfect spot. Now all I have to do is go clear out some accumulated junk and do some building. Not my forte so may rope in my brother's building expertise! Thank you!

Awesome. I was looking for inspiration on building a grow light stand from wood rather than plastic/metal. Not much out there but you got my wheels spinning. This did. Thanks!

Your basic 2x4 stand has only 1 light strip. is that enough light to cover a standard 10x20 tray of seedlings or do the ones on the edges reach in and get leggy?

Woohoo! I just got your other comment and you can find them in our seed starting kit or as a standalone product here: www.mindandsoil.com/collections/tools/products/2ft-grow-light Once you start growing with it, could you take a picture and either send it to me or tag us on Instagram? @mindandsoil Would love to reshare it!

Very helpful video. Wondering about the seed starter kit - how long do the lights last? And what is the cost for replacements?
@MindandSoil
@MindandSoil 2 года назад
Hey Debbie! Thanks so much for the kind words! The lights are LEDs so they should last multiple years lf for any reason they were to stop working in the first 2 years I would want you to get in touch with me as I should be able to replace them with the supplier warranty! I have mine on for about 12hrs per day and haven't had to replace a single one nor have we had any customers that have had issue :D Do you need any help placing your order? Please email me at jordan@mindandsoil.com and I can lend a hand!

Where do you get the tube light grow light from
@yvrclimber
@yvrclimber 2 года назад
Hi Jordan - how critical is warmth relative to the lighting. I have mine plant babies growing in my laundry room, but it's a very limited space. Plus I'm getting a few fruit flies, which is kind of annoying in the living space. I'm thinking of my garage. I have a while wall I could leverage. The garage is insulated, but not heated. So likely only a few degrees warmer than outside. Maybe I sick to wintering peppers indoors. And germinating beans which need warmth. But what about the rest of the seeds. Think I'll have success out in the garage? I could do some heading pads maybe?
@MindandSoil
@MindandSoil 2 года назад
Very good question! Keep your eyes peeled for our next video coming out on Sunday of this week. Temperature is *very* important for germination and then not as important once growing. For germination, the success rate really drops off if it's below 70F/21C. So you want to make sure it's at least that warm. If you get tight on space, keep the warmest space for seed starting and then move the other babies to another area. You'll also see how I heat my seed starting area which will give you some ideas! Also- you're officially a gardener now that you have those little gnats floating around! Certainly a nuisance more than anything!

How does it connect to electricity, is there a plug attached to the grow light? In the first option, is there an outlet in your closet? Where so you recommend buying grow lights?
@MindandSoil
@MindandSoil 2 года назад
Dorothy! Amazing question! Yes - there is a cord that simply pugs into any electrical outlet so it is super super simple to use. To make things even easier, I also bought a timer from Home Depot so that the light automatically turns on at 7:30am and turns off at 7:30pm. In terms of where to buy the grow lights, last year I experimented with 6 or 7 different ones and now we have my absolute favorite for sale on our website (and offer free shipping on all orders over $100): www.mindandsoil.com/collections/tools/products/2ft-grow-light

what grow light is that and how well does it do with larger plants that produce fruit or vegetables? currently i am using a 1000 w BESTVA LED grow light hanging from the top shelf of a metal wire wrack and the plants on the floor with a tarp under them and boot trays under the pots. been wanting to set up more grow space but the cost of lights and materials to hang them over plants has been a barrier.

We use Monios 2ft LEDs and loveeeee them. Not the most powerful out there but ive harvested tomatoes and peppers from underneath them!

@@MindandSoil i currently grow kale, broccoli, carrots, and soon micro greens. my worry is that they would stop being enough once the plants get beyond the microgreen stage as i lost everything when i tried shop lights with 6000k bulbs, as well as cheap grow light strips. after the plants got bigger then a softball they shriveled up and died. however under this BESTVA 1000W LED light with both bloom/veg lights stuff is going strong even a sunflower that has gotten too tall lol. will have to look at the return options if i decide to test them or maybe just use them for micro greens only.

@@firearmssanctuary2448 Hahaha a sunflower under grow lights!! Amazing. Yeah the ones in our shop are definitely more in line with what you're looking for, while also affordable. If you want to pick one up to give it a try let me know and i'll get you a discount code! :)

The step-by-step link provided leads to a 404 page. Can you please update it? Also, which grow-lights are ones shown in the video? Many on Amazon and other online retailers appear to be sketchy or are possibly fire hazards, but many in hardware stores are either sold out or extremely expensive.
