Long fast serves are essential to have. So make sure you’re dedicating some time to training them.
They can make your short serves even more effective and you’ll also compete against some players that really don’t like long serves. If you don’t have the skills to trouble them, then the game will be much harder.
There are many variations to master and here I show you 4 variations. So, get to work, put the time and effort in and develop some nasty long fast serves 💪

I like the Waldner version in the other corner of the table. It's possible to get an non touch ace serve with it, feels great when it works.

I just found you a week ago. What would be really beneficial for me is to go slow motion more than actual speed and show different angles with the camera..I'm old with Parkinson's . This is supposed to help us (parkies). Thanks you're amazing!

Wow, that was an excellent video! You explained everything really well. I especially appreciate your point about the importance of deception and not giving away that I'm going for the long serve. The way you used the return board to demonstrate the effects of spin, along with clips from actual games, really sets your videos apart. The slow-motion shots and different angles were super helpful too. Thank you for all your hard work-you're a table tennis angel! 😊

I have a tip for you, Craig. Your thumb noticeably points up on your first two fast, long serves, possibly tipping off an opponent. Your thumb stays firmly against your bat for your "skidding" serve. You might want to check where your thumb is on your short serves. When I saw this I was reminded of how Boris Becker's tongue position would tip off Andre Agassi and helped Andre's service return. I appreciate your videos.

I’ll rewatch it, great spot if you’ve seen something like that. Exactly the type of tells we can be picking up on. I wouldn’t be too concerned with my thumb position, so longs my short and long variations were the same. My objective wouldn’t necessarily be to disguise between these 4 different long serves. The Agassi reference is a great one. I’ve seen his interview on this, he restraint to take advantage of it a crucial times was completely elite level tactics.

Nice angles and returnboard showing u got a lot of spin. As for the serves i do all 4 of them even from the same starting point with my bat in a neutral position and only in the last half second swinging left/right for pendulum/reverse or going forward/downward for the the direct one and even thou i cannot get as high spin into it since i miss the pre-movement my opponents have great difficulty not knowing whats coming. As for the straight one i think the empty one is a bit too easy to return by just blocking/countering, i prefer to always add at least a bit of downwards movement for some backspin to make them hit the net and i like to vary the amount of backspin on it too, so they have a hard time next time as well.

I agree, if they see the straight one coming, then it can be easier. However, I try to keep the delay on this as late as I can and hopefully bait them into thinking I’m going to serve short.

Thanks! I did not realized, that ball should be as close to a table as possible on the contact. Not sure how I did blocked it from my mind. I've been struggling with fast serves because of that: sometimes it came out great, but more offten it was flying into a net, or to far. Btw, one of the best skidding serves I saw in Robert Gardos game.

Great video! I’ve been seeing more professional players mixing in long serves because if short serves become too predictable they get attacked with a flick. What are your thoughts about good serves with similar motions to pair with these serves? Here’s my take: 1. Long fast slight topspin paired with short dead no-spin serve. 2. Long pendulum to crossover paired with extra wide short pendulum. 3. Long skidding paired with short extra heavy straight backspin. 4. Long reverse paired with backspin reverse to the short forehand.

Can you make tutorial for long fast backhand serve? For a beginner, I found that pendulum serve family difficult to be applied in a match. Particularly when tension rise. The tension makes the wrist become stiff. That’s why backhand serve more handy in a match.

Hi Mr Bryant. You often make vids about the things I'm not so well at. Can you maybe help me out on this? I can do these as shown but when I'm getting faster I miss the table on the opponents side. So I Go back 20 to 40cm from the table and can do even faster but there I always fail on the normal Topspin version. How can I get consistency in there bc I can do the other variants. Thanks in advance If you can maybe let me know what I'm missing out or should correct.

The skidding serve is similar to your fast underspin-disguised-as-top-spin serve that you showed us a while ago. I've done that skidding version w/ reverse side spin, similar to your last serve shown, but w/ a technique closer to Mima Ito. What I've always wanted to learn is a short top-side spin close to the net. I've noticed only very advanced players use that one as it's quite difficult to get right. It's so spinny that flipping it is risky and pushing it pops it up. Can you show us that one?

@@TheTableTennisServiceGuy It's like a regular pendulum serve but instead of going long or half-long, you go super short so it lands a few inches from the net and almost bounces straight up and down, while staying lower than the net.

So y'all think he's unbeatable? His serves are unreturnable? I don't think he would even claim that. Players miss read simplest serves all the time...I can put a montage of my serves beating my opponents or a return-board. That doesn't mean I'm doing something magical.
