Two .44 cap & ball revolvers, two .44-40 '73 Colt clones and a .44-40 '73 Winchester, a 12ga. top break double barrel coach gun, all black powder. Good to go!
I have a Charter Arms Bulldog in 44 special. I love that thing. I was actually thinking of getting a flintlock rifle as a prepper rifle. I know it sounds dumb but I think it makes sense.
If people had seen your original channel they'd know how fluent you are with Semi Autos... I watched your original channel so I can vouch for his having semiautomatic firearms and training with them...
Thank you I started training and shooting revolvers more towards the end of covid. I did 1 I really enjoy shooting them 2 it's a lot cheaper but I do still train and shoot with my semi autos. Plus there are 100's or more channels doing the AR, AK, GLOCK, SIG and so on. There isn't a lot of channels doing elephant guns , cape guns and the cowboy tricks. I like a challenge and learning and doing the cowboy tricks has been hard but very full filling to do. Again thank you
@@A.R.American1 You are welcome yes I remember your videos I remember you doing the one on black powder in 45 LC and reloading primers with a child's toy parts... But you probably did more videos on shooting and things that our commie leadership want to outlaw...
People who say that revolvers are antiquated …have no grip on reality when it comes to self defense for the average citizen. They are usually tactitards who live in a fantasy in their heads. Unless you are law enforcement or military… you probably won’t need 15 rounds or more. You’re not going to be shooting it out with someone. A self defense shooting is going to be close up and fast. If you are having to do mag dumps or shoot someone far away, it’s probably not self-defense and will put you behind bars. I carry both auto and revolvers.. just depends on where I’m going and what I’m doing.
So I don't suppose a Trapdoor Springfield would count as a Military style rifle. 😇I do have a Mosin-Nagant carbine. Needs a little bit of attention from a smith but comes with the folding bayonet. 3" 45 Colt... Well Pietta has their Sheriff model. 😁
Never owned a revolver. Never fired one either. Always thought of them as fun to watch in old movies but impractical for edc. Been using my 9MM for edc for years. Rethinking that now. Need to upgrade my little collection anyway, and now is a good time. When I was a kid I used to watch every Dirty Harry movie with my jaw on the floor. Somehow. the movies made the Model 29 look bigger and more powerful than it actually is. I still want one. But I'm also thinking that a 45 would be better for SHTF.
Best SHTF revolver is a .357mag, because it will also shoot .38spec, which two calibers are the most readily-available center-fire revolver calibers out there.
Cant go wrong with that list.. but there are those who will say that there are arguments to be made.. based on specifics.. like What caliber AR..? (AR's can range from .22lr to .50 Beowulf 450 bushmaster and .458 Socom and from .300Blk and 6.5 Grendel to .308 and even .300wm - is 5.56x45 in an AR platform really still the BEST option in 2024?) Same with the handgun.. but is 9mm really the best choice among a sea of other caliber options..? No Argument from me on the AK and the 12Gga.. but there are those who would argue semi or pump? or say that you need a dedicated .308 battle rifle in your list.. and you need a .22lr.. and you need a long range precision bolt gun.. and the arguments go on and on.. and then there are those who reload like myself.. which greatly effects my personal choice on what specific 4 firearms would go on my list.
@dreadnaughttactical my thought is ak or ar your choice caliber is what ever flavor you prefer. Same with semi auto pistols. Shotgun what ever you can afford that holds as many rounds as possible and still be practical and reliable. Revolver for me is gonna be a double action large caliber but I'm partial to revolvers so not sure that counts lol
@@FallacyAsPraxis Personally I just think .22lr is a caliber that EVERYONE should own.. whether it be for practical/recreational purposes.. or for prepper/survivalist purposes.. it is a very capable round.. even capable of dropping a deer or a Hog with a well placed head shot.. it is quiet.. low recoil.. cheap t shoot.. and you can carry 1000 rounds in your pockets without feeling the weight. Also.. everyone in your group can comfortably shoot it accurately.. from women and children to the elderly and disabled. Whether rifle or pistol.. I dont think you can ever go wrong with having a .22lr on the list.
Yep I like having a couple of revolvers in the house for all the reasons you stated. I carry semi autos 99% of the time, but I will carry my J frame 638 occasionally. It’s a great little gun and I trust it. I have all my bases covered. Been there for a long time. Good talk. I sub’d
Good common sense video. I would add to that list a .22 rifle and also some sort of relatively powerful pellet gun. People forget about pellet rifles but a decent one in .22 caliber can easily take small game, and can be a very important survival tool that is very cheap to operate and requires very little maintenance.
My favorites: Dakota old model EMF 4 3/4" .45 Colt Taurus model 82 4" .38 specia Rossi M 92 SRC 20" .38/.357 magnum 1893 Reproduction Winchester 12 gauge pump riot gun. Not a semi auto in there but none of them throw my brass away. I've got Semis but those are what I shoot.
A handloader can do all kinds of things with a revolver that can't be done with a pistol. Including shotshells. Also, no mags to loose. I also prefer a big bullet over a small one. My presses are all single stage and easier to handle bigger bullets as opposed to smaller ones. I made my own .44 shotshell brass from 30/40 Krag brass. Uses .410 wads, trimmed down. I think a household should have more than 4 arms though. Including the 4 you mentioned, I'd add a quality .22 LR, rifle and handgun, a good rifle for long shots. I don't own a .223/5.56. I prefer the .300 BO for our household needs. Takes the same powder as the magnum revolver rounds (H110) , .30 caliber bullets are plentiful and anything from 110 grain -220 grain will work.
I would say it's safe to say to say say that you are a big deal if not a legend in these times. I don't care to use what you're doing, although I can appreciate the talent of doing such things. You are leaps and bounds above me in knowledge and I know enough to appreciate that. And you on top of those things know that I respect you just because you're a patriot.
@@washburnbilly only tricks ive done on my channel is split a card with 38 siper and hit target with a mirror. Marty in the county . Othe than that i like to show cooking in my dutch oven
@@martyinthecounty Good for you! I'm just trying to encourage my brother here. As we all should be doing in these times! I'm not a cowboy but I don't mind seeing AR play with some old stuff. It's pretty cool. But I don't know you?
I would disagree with one thing .357 magnum out of anything less than a 4” barrel I’d go with.38 +P just my 0.02 worth. Pains just not worth the gain. Good to see ya brother hope you had a great weekend and even better Independence Day 👍👍
Not really a black powder guy. But I totally agree have a semiautomatic 9mm pistol but have a good revolver hell have a good 1911 in 45 have a little pocket gun in 380 or whatever size. I also learned from the last couple ammo shortages. Have a bunch of different calibers don’t put all your eggs in one basket cause we have learned 9mm is one of the first to disappear. I love to collect guns so it’s easy to have a bunch of calibers .380 38special/357mag. 9mm 45acp if you got all the guns if you come across a few boxes of 38 or .380 but there is no 9mm you’re still shooting.
For sure I fell the same way. I'm not a die hard black powder guy but when all the smokless powder dries up i can still find black powder everywhere. All my revolver cartridges can be loaded with black powder. None of my semi auto's run reliably with black powder.
I picked up one of those models several years ago, but it was a 41 magnum. 2 inch ported barrel. I fired it at night in my backyard. It turned the night into day ! Lol. I traded it off the next day for a Glock model 30-45 auto.
@@martyinthecounty I've always wanted a Ruger Blackhawk in 41 magnum. I do like the caliber. But not in a 2 inch ported barrel lol. I did have an older Taurus snub nose in 44 special. It was stainless with rosewood grips. It was really nice. But I ended up trading it away on a truck I was wanting. I wish I would have kept it. I also had an original Charter Arms 44 special Bulldog revolver. 5 shot with a 3 inch barrel. I actually picked it up for my wife. She didn't like the recoil at all so traded it for a Taurus 38 snub nose revolver. I wish I had that one back too.
When l was a kid we carried Saturday night specials . 25 ACP and l had one with Ivory grips, my girlfriend took it and l dumped her and that’s the last time l saw that gun. I put Houge grips on my revolvers, l am clueless whe it comes to black powder.
Haha I like it becouse it is hotter I can get closer to smokless velocities with it. Plus it really gets some of the black powder guys really upset lol
Key words being , "As long as it gets the job done ." Guess I need to go pick up a revolver . You're no idiot , A . I heard about one the other night , on tv . Lol , so did most Americans . I can't watch that crap . I knew back in 2020 , We'd been had . So , to quote another American , "Best keep your head down , granny . Looks like Hell , is coming to breakfast ."
