Decorating a tree outside like this should be just as big of a tradition as decorating one inside! It would be a way to get the kids outside and thinking about giving.
I live near the Pacific Ocean. People want to feed the sea lions, seals, all so strangely cute. There are signs at every rest stop saying not to feed them. I understand the urge but it's dangerous to anthropomorphize wild animals.
That's so sweet! Thank you for feeding the animals. I love that you didn't try to prevent squirrels from getting the good stuff too! ❤️ I carry cat food, dog food and bird food/squirrel food with me in my car so that I can feed a hungry animal if I come upon one.
Hypocrisy to my opinion... Those who are feeding birds are the same who are chopping trees to have a neat lawn, a bigger house, a pool, or supporting highway constructions, etc... Typical cognitive dissonance.... Wake up people this mental disease is spreading @ warp speed... Adapting nature to human consumerism lifestyle is making anthropomorphism. Nature & wildlife don't need us or shouldn't be dependant on us to exist. But this doesn't mean we shouldn't protect Nature. Just be able to avoid this kind of misunderstanding/manipulation trick. This propaganda means : If wildlife doesn't buy on the supermaket, let's incite people to buy us food for it by making nature dependant on the market... This is just an indirect consumerism trap folks... spread by demons... This is disguized domestication + unconscious human manipulation & manipulated ideology to justify further ecosystems degradation ; and feel reassured because we can still feed wild animals . It's an occult financial/satanic cult ! This is just lying to ourselves by not understanding this.
My MIL has become unwell and isn't able to go outside any longer, she does have a Sun porch and a larger deck, these would be AMAZING to make for her from my kiddos, where she could sit in her home and watch the birds and nature she has always loved and worked so hard in .. and what a special gift from my kids to their Nana. THANK YOU for sharing this. How amazing 3 yrs later and your video is STILL giving a gift to the animals AND those who need companionship... That is beautiful!!! thank you so much. (We are going to make a few of these to take to the elderly in our neighborhood that aren't able to get out because of health and temps to bring a little joy to their days. THANK YOU again! Blessings from your friend in NC
Very nice! Remember, grow trees and bushes that give shelter and food that the native birds enjoy. A gift that keeps on giving:)💞 and in spring plant plants and flowers that will provide nectar and seeds.
Very good point plant trees and shrubs as habitat for the birds if you want them in your yard, also make sure to choose trees and shrubs that grow berries for the birds to eat .
That was so lovely to watch. Now I know one of the many reasons I find your videos so soothing and calming. You have the innate ability to convey the feeling of Home. Thank you!
Love these ideas!!! They say to leave the garden be before winter so the birds have something to eat, but I totally understand wanting the peace of knowing that under the snow things are nice and tidy!!! But this way the birds get more fat and calories, and they certainly have an easier time getting to these nutrients!!! They sing for their supper and reward you with birdsong!!! So sweet, Laura.
The muffin tin one would be cute in heart & star shape pans. In fact I have even seen little trains & gingerbread man muffin tins at Christmas - how cute would that be?!?! Great job as always Laura!!!
I've made them using mini-bundt pans before. You end up with little wreaths. If you want to get creative, stick some cranberries in the bottom of the pan before adding the seed mixture.
Oh my God...how creative you are. I'm stunned. I'm going to write these down and make these ideas. You are a genius. My only problem is I have lots and lots and more squirrels than leaves on a tree and I'm worried they will destroy my efforts. But I'm going to do it anyways. I'm so excited. Thank you so very much for sharing, I can't thank you enough. How creative you are.
Love every one of these! Infact when we get my niece & nephews over Christmas break (parents work) I might have to make some of these w/ them - they would love to decorate the trees outside for Christmas!!!
Keeping our family involved in feeding birds and making bird feeders and houses is so much fun . Our 5 younger grandkids are finally at the age to help . Them older 8 are always too busy
Omg I can’t believe I found this. I’m looking for a way to feed my little friends outside and God sent me here ..yes God did that cause I prayed silently and this was the first video that came up after that. Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ this is perfect!
Everything I put outside for the birds has to be squirrel proof. They even chew at the metal on the squirrel proof feeder which really does a good job. I feed the birds year round. Love the cardinals best. You had some good ideas though.
Moiseechen there is a brand of bird food on the market that has some type of hot sauce. The birds can tolerate it but apparently squirrels don’t like it. I’m sure you can find some recipes on the internet.
A good way to keep them off feeders is to have an area lower and els where that you put feed out for the squirrels. If you feed them they wont be as likely to destroy your feeders
Iam beyond speachless!!!!! This is so Amazing!!! 😃😃 Never seen something so nice and cool..... Very cute!!!! ❤️❤️ I promise I will do it for my bird friends outside 😊 Thank you so much !!! 🙏
I love the apple and orange garland! Omg the decorated tree!! I want to make one this week! It’s so cold right now so we put towels and blankets outside for them. U
Thanks for this video! I love feeding the birds especially in the winter/colder months. Birds are so fun to watch. When you feed them on a regular basis, you’ll notice returning birds. And then they bring their significant other and offspring. It’s really quite fun! Tfs such good ideas! God bless. ❤️💜💚
Thank you so much for posting this video! My daughter and I feed the birds and we are definitely going to make some of these treats for them! We appreciate your great ideas. Thank you!
I remember seeing a bird feeder years ago that was simply a "higher-than-me" metal pole stuck deep enough into the ground to keep it steady...had a large flat dish sitting on the top of it...and about 2/3rds of the way up that pole was a much larger flat dish that the pole had gone through: and this dish's underside was smeared with vaseline so the squirrels couldn't get to any food in the top dish. I think anyone with some imagination could figure out how to make this, and it just might work in keeping pesky squirrels away. 😄 Anyway, it's just an idea. 💖
The squirrels are frustrating little critters. Unfortunately the Vaseline isn’t a great idea. Often the birds will hold onto the pole with Vaseline and it could make it difficult for them to fly. A baffle can be made by looking on RU-vid or bought at several feed stores. 😊
A bird's best friend...I was just saying to myself yesterday as I was sitting in my car warming it up to go to work I seen some birds and thought about how they looked hungry and probably wished they had food to eat...I thought what could I feed them...this gave me a few ideals thanks for sharing....
I know that feeling . But the squirrels are so entertaining . And most clever how they find a way to get to the feeders . Amazing little critters 😂 l have put feeders out just for them . Dryed feed corn cob's hanging a distance away from the other feeders . Helps some
You are so creative Laura! thank you so much for the wonderful ideas! I'll be sure to make these with my grandbabes!! Blessings to you and your family!
I love when RU-vid sends me a gem 🤗… this is amazing and totally do able for me……I have my first birds in the bird box I made 2 years ago to my surprise I can watch them come and go on the security camera we put up last year . We do feed the birds but it’s dull in comparison it’s time to jolly out up again . Stay safe stay well x
I like squirrels better than birds even, so no problem! Really, I put out feed to attract the critters for my indoor-only kitty's viewing pleasure. Everyone is happy!
These look so pretty and so cute, but currently I live along a green belt/nature trail and so I already get furry visitors daily and nightly (squirrels, raccoons, and oppossums) that would raid these and tear them to shreds within minutes. Otherwise I would do it.
Where i live, putting so much food outside would be like asking for a fly infestation, but i guess her backyard is like a natural refrigerator on winter, not a very good place to be a fly. 😅
~So inspiring!! I’d love to know if you have a preference on bird seed? I’ve actually never bought it before! Also would love to know if there’s a way to deter the squirrels or do we just let the love go round?! 😂💖✨💫
You can use old corn cobs to feed squirrels but if you let them get the bird seed won't be any left for the birds. My neighbor has that problem so she just started feeding the squirrel walnuts 😂 but those go fast. So I suggest old corn cobs. You can nail it to the tree
@@tiffanyholmes8155 yes did that too! First got sacks n sacks of peanuts ,then walnuts the rascals gorged on the seed first then carried the nuts away happily 😂
Rubbing hotsauce on pumpkins can keep squirrels from eating jackolanterns, and birds dont have the tastebuds for spicy things, maybe toss the seeds with hotsauce?
My squirrels would love your house.....I am in a battle royale with them over my bird feeders. I gave up and let them have what the want and keep refilling for the birds.
The only way I found to protect from squirrels is drive a pole into ground with nothing within 9 feet of it that the squirrels can jump from and then put a baffle on pole so they can’t shimmy up the pole. I’m going to make the flour/birdseed cake, my birds will love it.
It is an extremely BAD idea to feed birds in winter. Doing so messes up their migratory habits of going to warmer areas where food is more plentiful and makes them completely reliant on the feedings. Meaning, if you stop feeding them every day, every winter (because they WILL teach their offspring the same habits), the birds will die and you will be responsible. Feed birds in spring and summer when they have returned and are able to obtain food from multiple sources.
