The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. This is one of the reasons for it as the government can not protect you they have no legal obligation to protect you and no legal liability for failing to protect you. Buy a firearm get trained with your pistol carry your gun everywhere be the person to save yourself and maybe others.

Unfortunately, not everyone can be responsible all of the time with those. What's best is limiting high-capacity guns, stricter background checks, and actually policing STATE boarders for smuggling and straw purchases.
