If you want something like this on a budget, there's loads of diy hydroponics for apartment microgreens all over the place. Personally, I used to use a shelf on wheels with LED overhead lighting and sprouting trays. Works great for starter plants in spring too.

my boss at work has an aerogarden and it grew so much so fast that she forced me to take more than half of the herbs home because of the rapid growth! I definitely need one of these

It's been a while, but I'm glad I watched this video. I've been wanting to grow my own veggies, but I'm not good with any of that lol. When I have the funds, I will definitely invest in this. My grandfather used to help plants to polynate with a feather. And as a added bonus he made bee sound effects😂

@@er1cf He pretty much did like Kelli did with a cotton swab. He gently stroked the flowers with a feather and progressed like a bee moving from one flower to another. He did this for all kinds of plants, even for some really young plum and apple trees that needed cross polinating and that werent that attractive for genuine bees yet. And, of course, mimicked the voice of the bee while doing so. He was both a joker and a great gardener. 😍

This is a great review! Thanks :) I wasn't too interested in the Gardyn because I know it is too much for my household since it's only my husband and I and he isn't big on veggies or herbs. However, I was still fascinated by it. I was recently gifted a small AeroGarden system and I have grown enough for two salads so far, which is pretty awesome. Like you said, it's nice if you want a salad and all you have to do is walk over and take some leaves off. Plus, it is a good way for me to grow greens inside while it is getting too cold in my area to garden outside.

I feel like there should be smaller gardens for people who can’t spend as much money they would sell to a larger number of peoples price ranges! But this thing is a fabulous ideal!!

Check out Click and Grow or Rise Garden. They have smaller units that can even be expanded later.

This is so neat! My dog would def. help herself to everything she could reach hahah. You've inspired me to re-think getting a little countertop aerogarden though! Would love to get one one day if they come to Canada and I had a bigger place.

Great video! I’m in south Florida and can grow just about anything, but we now have iguanas that love to eat leafy greens. I’m not one to kill anything but rather find a balance as Mother Nature tends to do her thing every winter and minimize the number of iguanas. This is a perfect solution! I was looking for a down to earth, realistic review and this was just what I needed. I will be purchasing this product now after listening to you informative and quite entertaining review. If you cap the empty holes, the tank will stay cleaner for longer. The idea is to block the light out to prevent algae.

Best review I've seen. Please keep updating ... tips, what you learned. .. do you germinate in the dark? Do you stick to GARDYN schedule to get happy faces? Do you put your phone on airplane mode before you connect a new system since they support multiple systems now? Have you reviewed the 2.0 version?

You're welcome! It has honestly saved us a ton of money. herbs and lettuce (that usually dies in my fridge) are more than I thought when you start adding up the costs every month.

It was really good to see you place it in different rooms and levels of your home. Do your tomatoes get very red and juicy? Also, I believe you said it has a trickle watering method from the top down. How would that work if you left empty places to give other plants more room to grow. I am wondering how messy the watering would get with open spots. I WANT this, but the size of it may be an issue in my home. I do not have room.

I love my Gardyn! It took my husband a while to convince me to get it but I'm so glad he did. I'm way healthier than I used to be because of this thing. I reccomend and coming from a cheapskate like me that's saying something 🤣😭. That said the 6 month deep clean is a BEAST! So be prepared for that

I just bought a Gardyb last month and I'm having a hard time connecting it to the Wifi. When I press the silver button, nothing happens they sent me a replacement lid and it’s still not working. I was wondering if you knew of any tricks to get it to work

@annamusumeci8376 I'm sorry I'm not sure mine didn't have any issues connecting. I would say it didn't work immediately because the Gardyn is on A default timer that threw me off in the beginning as I thought it was a connection issue lol.

The tomato plants look leggy, probably due to inadequate light. Greens typically don't need as much light as fruiting plants like tomatoes and peppers. I would consider getting some small net cups, (1-1/2"?) rock wool cubes, and hydroton clay pebbles and sprouting and growing Thai peppers and dwarf cherry tomato plants, both of which would fit better in the confined space.

My husband gifted me an AeroGarden (with 9 pods) for Christmas. It's with lettuce and I love it. I'm going to get some pods with herbs this month and will take some of the lettuce out and put it in soil (they have extra kits for that too) to make space for the herbs. Even my grandma finds it really interesting and she's got a huge garden at home. Thanks for that review, I enjoyed it and thinking about extending my hydroponic garden family ^^'

I got my Aerogarden for free. I love it but if it or anything like it had to be bought I would have passed by it without looking at it. My Basil and chives started growing on the third day though and now I have more pods on the way. 😁

The gardyn looks so cool I wish they made a mini one that is similar to the aero garden bounty because the tower is expensive, hard to clean, and I prefer it on the counter which is why I chose the aerogarden bounty and I’m loving it I just wish it had something like kelby.

Can you use the app and get reminders. without the subscription service? Can you reuse the grow pods with own seed if you bought the green filler stuff? I can live with the initial cost of the gardyn because we are super remote and are 30 minutes from the nearest grocery store but the monthly membership at $$$ seems excessive and might not be possible for all people.

You can! Kelby comes with the gardyn, the subscription service just allows you to get 10 new plants (or plant food) every month with free shipping. If not you can order empty ycubes to put your own seeds in or buy the plant food and plants as you need them. like I mentioned, I don't really need 10 new plants a month because my lettuce has been producing for two months now!

Reading the FAQs on their site and looks like u technically don't need the membership if u want to do it all urself. The app will work so u can water and work the lights but u won't have "kelby" giving u updates on when stuff needs to be done. And they also sell the pods without seeds so u can plant whatever seeds u have

I haven't noticed a huge increase in mine. It's LED so it's not as bad as people think.

Put caps/covers over all unused slots to limit algae and bug nesting. I got 3 of these 1.0 version. Know all the pros and cons. Including columns cracking, unit being flimsy at the top and over all. If oyu get PH balance down and sprout repalcement cubes is great. As other's mentioned the deep clean every 6 months is a bitch. Also when cracks tend to take place.

I think it's a great idea! Honestly, even during the summer I will grow lettuce only inside. our summers here have been so hot that my lettuce gets burnt or bolts too soon and becomes bitter.

the ycubes are specifically made to fit the garden. I'm not sure if you can use anything else but I know they sell empty ones where you can plant your own seeds if you want.

That was my thoughts exactly....and there sure weren't to many tomatoes or other veggies that go into a salad. I would like to see a garden maybe 6 months into use where the greens and veggies are truly growing to where it would pay to have a big system like this.

I didn’t hear you say anything about this so I’m asking… you can’t really grow any big veggies like eggplant, zucchini… and obviously no root veggies (potatoes, carrots)or tree fruits (apples, oranges, cherries) So it doesn’t really keep you from buying those things at the grocery store. And that’s a huge portion of produce. It seems like it would keep you in salad and greens and herbs, mostly, which is GREAT.
