I think elbow-length sleeves are elegant. I don’t like 3/4-length because they’re too hot in summer, but not warm enough for winter, so I love elbow-length for mild to hot weather. Be sure to wet and dry new items a few times before having them altered, they can shrink a lot in length especially. My beloved square neck tees have elbow-length sleeves, another reason that I bought several colors.
Thank you Lucy! I'm so glad you like them! And I love your handle... The Wizard of Oz was my favorite movie as a kid... I watched it at least 1000 times and made my parents dress me as Dorothy for every birthday (I had a thing for shoes even back then 😂)
I'm a middle school teacher, in my school I'm 100% elegant when I wear a dress and a blazer... The blazer is like magic! The last point you made is my favorite one and my secret to command silence! I've studied the non verbal communication of the best teachers and tried to emulate them until it became my second nature, and my secret to peaceful and effective lessons 😎 ciao from lake Garda
I had a History teacher in high school that was a genius at this! She was ultra elegant and her presence and body language was so in control that all it took was one look from her for the class to be dead silent… Huge inspiration!
I'm a big fan of v-necks, and wear them all the time. I have a full bust, and find that in crewnecks and high necklines, I look "overstuffed" and heavier all over. V-necks elongate the neck and the torso as well.
I purchased a fitted white coat from Mango for spring but once it arrived, even though the body fit nicely, the shoulders were too big and the sleeves were too long. I took it to my tailor and she completely transformed it, which took a fast fashion jacket to something that looks designer. Yes, it was more to tailor it than what it cost but it was a needed adjustment. Tailor your clothing ladies!
Very useful tips. Thak you. I also liker boat neck shirts. I fact I think that combination of boat neck an three-quarter sleeves is the epytome of classic elegance.
I love your videos! I grew up in the 60's and love your style. I also love scoop necks and high necks, but I've been brainwashed that V-necks are better for big busted ladies!
Hi Janie! The V-neck argument is just a personal opinion about how it looks like on my body type. You should wear what makes your proportions the most flattering, and if that's a V-neck, so be it 💁🏻♀️ If I had more bust, I would probably go for wrap styles, that give you that V shape but add a touch of elegance. Kimberly is also super right! square necks are a great alternative ;)
You are 110% right about alternation. You need to make you clothes fit you perfectly. It is the only way to look elegant. I alternate my clothes all the time (having hourglass body shape, the only way to have a proper fit is to make them custom/alternate them). I love your videos, keep up with a excellent work. I look forward to all your postings.
Totally agree Gordana! I’m also an hourglass and usually have to alter high-waisted pants, blazers… it’s worth the extra step, because it looks so much better
Love, love your videos! Any recommendation for woman wearing glasses? How to be elegant when we have already something going on in our face? Do you recommend statement glases or something more discreet? Greetings, xx
I would love to hear about this topic, too. I’m always afraid to do too much, like jewelry, because I have to take my glasses into consideration. Many of us are obligated to wear glasses, contacts are banned for medical reasons, or because of work requirements.
I really appreciate how you told us not to give up on a piece just because it doesn't fit perfectly and go alter it. I find it extremely difficult to find pants that fit me : if they fit in my hips they will be too big on my waist. I remember going to look for pants a few months ago and I have stayed at one single shop for more than 1 hour trying and trying and none fit me . And then I totally gave up searching. But now that i heard your advice, I will totally be more confident with the clothes i buy and will send them to be tailored to fit my body. Thank you a lot ! 💕
Yes, but one should select the neckline that is most flattering for the individual figure. If I wear a high neckline, I look like just a pair of 38Es. My most flattering is a square neck, not too low, it makes my bust look more proportionate. Plus, it looks great under blazers. I really like knitted silk t-shirts, they look a lot less casual, but feel wonderful.
These are good tips, I’m always trying to use as little makeup as possible but still look like I care. One of my things is using Lumify- it whitens my eyes giving me a brighter eye. I don’t look like I need a nap😊
Love that high neckline and I buy it every time I find it. I have y share of V necks when I read that it was appropriate for my body shape. So general!!!! I wear those t-shirts to Pilates lol
I actually really like you in a V-neck! Maybe it's just because you are like the elegance goddess for me, but I think it gives a bit more of a playful/elegant vibe on you
I like the look of high neck but I have a short neck so it can make me look like I have no neck at all… I do have several boat neck tees. Love the striped ones especially (marinière). You are right about body language. It is essential. Have you read Joe Navarro’s books on body language? Some of his talks are on You Tube as well. They are very insightful. 🙂
Hi Isa! I haven't read his books but have seen a few of his interviews and talks... super interesting! ps.: in regards to the neckline argument, wear what makes YOU feel good. I have received a lot of comments from people saying that V-necks are what makes their proportions look the best, so in my list of fashion priorities I'd say having a balanced overall look is way more important than wearing a high neck ;)
A lit of YTers look into their camera feed and touch their hair every few seconds, it looks so self-conscious and is super-annoying. I want to say “your hair is fine, leave it alone!”. You have so much more poise than they do, poor self-obsessed kids.
I really do prefer the look of higher necks, but unfortunately they don't look good on me; if you have a larger chest they simply look ridiculous: it accentuates the bust, making you look top heavy. Such a shame, as I really do prefer something with a higher neckline. Holding the shoulders back and head high is immediately going to give you a look of authority and confidence.
Hey JayJay! Yes, you should absolutely wear what makes YOU feel and look your best. A wrap top for instance would probably look stunning on you, as it has a V shape at the bust but isn’t just a plain t-shirt shape ☺️
Hi Salome! It's a glossy lipstick from Kiko Milano called Light Cinnabar. I wear it ALL OF THE TIME 💄 If you're interested, here's the link: rstyle.me/+SOkqrHb5z4qiC0gAvHJAlw
Hand gestures are not elegant. Especially some of the ones I see very young women using. However the hand gestures that naturally belong with different languages are ok as long as you are really speaking that language.
