In today’s video, I’ll take you inside the Seattle Aquarium, one of the top things to do in Seattle.
Along the way, I’ll share four top tips for your visit, including potential ways to get free or discounted tickets, because the main thing that isn’t fabulous about the Seattle Aquarium is that admission is very expensive.

The Seattle Aquarium is on the downtown Seattle waterfront, a little south of the Space Needle.
If you decide to drive instead of taking transit, my first tip is to book parking in advance, because the aquarium doesn’t have dedicated parking. I’d recommend booking a spot in a parking garage through SpotHero. The Seattle Aquarium has its own page here: spothero.com/s...
Regardless of where you park, you’ll likely have a short walk along the waterfront to the aquarium.
Once inside, you’ll soon come across a huge fish window.
If you’re hungry, take the stairs up to the cafe on the second floor. If it’s a nice day, I’d recommend eating outside so you can see the fabulous view of the Seattle Great Wheel and the Olympic Mountains. Even if you don’t eat at the cafe, make sure to step outside sometime during your aquarium visit to appreciate the views.
Back inside, you’ll come upon a cool display of crashing waves, and then the space opens up into a big room with lots of exhibits to explore.
Central to this space is the tide pools, where visitors are invited to touch the sea life, but gently with one finger.
My favorite part of the space is the mesmerizing jellyfish arch.
There’s also a fabulous octopus!
While the sea creatures are quite a draw for many kids anyway, the Seattle Aquarium has a special baby & toddler space to ensure the youngest visitors get a hands-on experience. This was a huge hit for our Little Explorer, who can get restless if cooped up in a carrier for too long.
My third tip is to give your little one time in the play area so they’re on board with quiet time looking at the animals later. There’s also a nursing pod near the play area, making a trip to the aquarium very baby-friendly.
Near the underwater dome, you’ll find sea birds and mammals, including seals and otters!
Tip 4 is to look for free or discounted tickets, because full-price admission is over $40 on peak days. Here is the link to the aquarium discounts page: www.seattleaqu.... In a nutshell, if you’re a Seattle metro area resident, the best deal is to use a library museum pass to get up to four free tickets. You’ll need a Seattle Public Library or King County Library card, and you’ll also need to book ahead of time because these passes are limited and popular. Passes can be reserved up to two weeks in advance.
Thanks for joining us at the Seattle Aquarium!
